It is considered as one of the most productive terrestrial ecosystems on the planet, due to its structural and landscape complexity. It harbors a great diversity of bats, being Carollia perspicillata (Phyllostomidae) one of the most commonly recorded, it is mainly frugivorous, foraging in the lowest stratum of the forest, there are few studies about its ecology and even less in the Amazon region; therefore, this study aims to evaluate the influence of abiotic factors (temperature, seasonality, illuminated phase of the Moon) on a population of the aforementioned species in the Brazilian Amazon. For the capture of bats, 8 mist nets were used in terra firme forest in the Brazilian central Amazon. The temperature data were provided by the National Institute of Meteorology (INMET-Brazil), while the percentage of illuminated phase of the Moon for each day of collection was obtained by Moontool version 2.0 Software. In total, 888 individuals were captured: 358 males and 530 females. A higher frequency of young individuals (for both sexes) was recorded in the rainy season, as well as lactating females and the total of individuals recorded. The weight of the bats does not seem to respond to the climate season. The temperature did not significantly influence the abundance of individuals, however the percentage of illuminated phase of the Moon does, as has already been demonstrated by other authors, responding to a phenomenon known as «moon phobia». Results suggest that abiotic factors may influence on populations of this bat species in the forests of the Brazilian Amazon.","PeriodicalId":33841,"journal":{"name":"Acta Zoologica Lilloana","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44394516","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In Buenos Aires province it is mainly distributed in the departments of Bahia Blanca, Puan, Villarino and Patagones. The knowledge about its current distribution, population status and habitat use is currently scarce. This work makes an approximation to the knowledge of the current status of the populations of the species in the south of Buenos Aires, contributing new data on its distribution, abundance and on forest use. We performed 303 independent extensive, unlimited, radio sampling points with the use of playback over 13 transects, totaling 1,183 km between 2015 and 2017, during 11 sampling campaigns. The percentage of forest cover was estimated at each point within 100 m radius. We obtained 19 records of a total of 48 individuals: 24 males, 17 females, and 7 undeterminated individuals. The 78,9 % of records and the 83,3 % of individuals were observed in the southern area. Forest cover was similar between sites with and without Yellow Cardinal records. The low records at the North and Centre areas could be due to the illegal capture of individuals, as long as the species has been abundant in the past, but not sought, otherwise the species may have always been scarce in these areas.","PeriodicalId":33841,"journal":{"name":"Acta Zoologica Lilloana","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43534519","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The theoretical and epistemological basis of it is starting to show weakness as a result of the progress made by other fields and the accumulation of empiric evidence that cannot be explained under its assumptions. The Developmental Systems Theory (DST) is a theoretical inclusive proposal for heredity, evolution and developmental biology. Fields such as epigenetics, behavioural sciences and other theories such as Niche Construction Theory (NCT) contribute to DST by the integration of diverse factors so to understand biological processes. In the present research we analyze evidence from epigenetics, behavioural sciences and theoretical proposals from diverse authors that allow understanding of concepts as evolution, inheritance and adaptation in a broader manner. These topics, although are seen within the biology field as mere philosophy by most authors, constitute theoretical frames that restrict and guide problems and questions in research and that is why addressing them results in an attempt to think about current paradigms. It is concluded the necessity to question and rede- fine the fundamental theoretical concepts and its articulation with the theories that contain them in order to get a bigger explanatory power about evolutionary processes.","PeriodicalId":33841,"journal":{"name":"Acta Zoologica Lilloana","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41862506","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the year 2016 a specimen was observed for the first time in the Botanical Garden of the Miguel Lillo Foundation (JBFML, for its abbreviation in Spanish) so it was followed up for a month that was the period in which it remained on the site. The study consisted of analyzing the diet of Blackish Lechuzon during its stay in the JBFML. For that, the resting place and its perches were observed, and 20 pellets were collected and analyzed. Birds, particularly raptors, are good bioindicators of environmental quality, since be- ing at the top of the trophic chain are sensitive to environmental changes and human activity, hence the importance of the presence of A. stygius in the JBFML.","PeriodicalId":33841,"journal":{"name":"Acta Zoologica Lilloana","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46909383","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
