In tracking servo system, the influence of the track eccentricity becomes periodic disturbance. The influence of force disturbance caused by shaking is treated as sudden disturbance. The several control methods suppressing the periodic disturbance have been proposed. On the other hand, it is difficult to detect the sudden disturbance without force sensor. In the conventional tracking servo system, the influence of sudden disturbance has been suppressed by the feedback controller. This paper proposes a new force sensorless robust tracking servo system, which detects and suppresses the both periodic disturbance and the sudden disturbance without force sensor. The proposed system estimates the both periodic disturbance and sudden disturbance based on a new sudden disturbance observer and memory of tracking error. Moreover, in order to suppress the periodic disturbance quickly, this paper designs the ZPET feedforward servo system with prediction of tracking error. The experimental results point out that the proposed tracking servo system has a precise tracking response against both periodic disturbance and sudden disturbance.","PeriodicalId":338222,"journal":{"name":"31st Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2005. The bandwidth of force sensing and friction compensation are very important problems for reproduction of vivid force sensation. In this paper, an environment quarrier is proposed for bilateral teleoperation instead of force sensors. The environment quarrier is a novel force sensing method which consists of a twin robot system. Two same types of robots are required and they are controlled in the same position, velocity and acceleration by bilateral acceleration control based on a disturbance observer. One robot is in contact motion and the other is unconstrained. The purity of external force is obtained by subtracting the disturbance torque in the unconstrained robot from the constrained one. The environment quarrier can observe the external force with high bandwidth and friction compensation. In order to implement the environment quarrier to a bilateral control system, four robots are required. In this paper, the idea of multilateral control is introduced for attainment of simultaneity. Furthermore, this paper shows that the controller design of the multilateral control in the modal space. The experimental results showed the viability of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":338222,"journal":{"name":"31st Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2005. Compared with the conventional transformer, a contactless transformer has large airgap, long primary wire and multi-secondary wire. So contactless transformer has large leakage inductance, small magnetizing inductance and poor coupling coefficient. Therefore, large magnetizing current flows through entire primary system due to small magnetizing inductance and the overall system efficiency will be low. In high power applications, contactless transformer is so bulky and heavy that it should be split by some light and small transformers. So contactless transformer needs several small transformer modules which are connected series or parallel to transfer the primary power to the secondary one. This paper shows analysis and measurement results of the each contactless transformer module and comparison results between series-connection and parallel-connection of the contactless transformer. The results are verified on the simulation based on the theoretical analysis and the 30 kW experimental prototype","PeriodicalId":338222,"journal":{"name":"31st Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2005. The method calculates the Fourier coefficients of corresponding positive and negative pulse pairs of the output PWM waveform and adds them together using the principle of superposition to calculate the Fourier coefficients of the entire PWM output signal. This method allows direct calculation of harmonic magnitudes and angles without having to use numerical techniques, look-up tables, or Bessel functions. The method presented is a general method that can easily be extended to other types of multilevel inverters and PWM schemes such as space vector modulation. The method has also been tested and proven to be valid in the overmodulation region.","PeriodicalId":338222,"journal":{"name":"31st Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2005. Moreover, there are differences between batches and also the production process may change in time. The same material grade may have improved or reduced performance depending on the year of production. In loss critical applications it is good to be able to test the losses on real cores. The usual voltage waveforms in power applications are closer to square wave than to sine wave. The DC bias can have a significant influence on the ferrite losses, so it is good to check this sensitivity. Power assisted wheelchair which assists the driving force by electric motors is expected to be widely used as a mobility support system for elderly people and disabled people, however, the performance of the straight and circular road driving must be further improved because the two wheels are driven independently. This paper proposes a straight and circular road driving control scheme based on the balanced assisted torque between the two wheels. The balanced assisted torque is determined from the proportion of the human input torque to the right and left wheels. Some experiments and subjective evaluation show the effectiveness of the proposed control system.","PeriodicalId":338222,"journal":{"name":"31st Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2005. They are disconnected from the grid whenever these conditions arise and reconnected once the grid is healthy. Maintaining the wind turbine connected to grid is real challenge. Future grid codes will require wind turbines connected to grid even during the fault condition and have low voltage ride through (LVRT) feature installed. LVRT feature is not available in most of the present wind turbine and few do with addition circuitry and control increasing the cost of the system. In this paper, a novel control strategy and LVRT for wind turbines with doubly fed induction generators is presented to maintain the turbine connected to grid during fault and post fault condition without addition circuitry. The controller is designed using H/sub /spl infin// technique and /spl mu/-analysis based robust control technique to take into account various adverse conditions. The controller is tested on low power hardware prototype and the results are presented.","PeriodicalId":338222,"journal":{"name":"31st Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2005. However, like most power converter families, these inverters are nonlinear systems with dead times, voltage drops across the power semiconductors, load and supply dependent DC-links, that all together can generate considerable low frequency voltage and current distortion affecting negatively the quality of important variables of the global process powered by the inverter. In high power applications this can be very critical due to the amount of energy involved in non desirable harmonics. This paper presents a solution to these problems by including the disturbances in the modulation strategy. Results are presented for a nine level cascaded asymmetric inverter, showing how the algorithm rejects DC-link voltage ripple and compensates voltage drops and dead times of the converter. We propose ZMP modification and cycle time modification. ZMP modification is the value which compensates the influence of virtual force to ZMP. Cycle time modification is that the period in double support phase is modified to avoid a robot tipping over. These modifications are calculated from information of reaction force on arms. In these methods, a robot walks while pushing an unknown object. Even if parameters of a object and friction coefficient on the floor vary, the robot keeps on walking while pushing. The effectiveness of the proposed method is confirmed by a simulation and an experiment.","PeriodicalId":338222,"journal":{"name":"31st Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2005.
