The aim is to investigate the immediate or ‘first round’ impacts of COVID-19 on the South African tourism space economy with specific focus directed at its ramifications for small town and rural tourism. The study utilises a local tourism data base which tracks information concerning the tourism performance of all local municipal authorities in the country. The results reveal that during 2020 a noticeable change emerged in the spatial patterns of tourism. The trend for the concentration of tourism development upon the country’s leading cities was halted and seemingly put in reverse by the impacts of COVID-19. Evidence exists of a weakening of the previously dominant position of (in particular) the major metropolitan areas in South Africa’s tourism economy. This unprecedented change has triggered a number of previously unknown problems and has forced students to find ways of coping with them. This study investigates the dark sides of online education and coping strategies developed by students by drawing on insights from coping theories to explain students’ adaptive responses. The study is based on qualitative data collected in an online survey of 27 students of tourism from a public university in Poland. The most frequent problem reported by the respondents were technical issues occurring during classes, followed by the lack of motivation and commitment, difficulties with sustained attention and the lack of contact with peers. The majority of students coped with stress caused by the negative aspects of technology in online education by engaging in physical activity. The aim of the study was to investigate the attitudes and priorities of Turkish domestic tourists regarding post-COVID-19 travel. The priorities of female respondents with respect to service quality/prices were found to be significantly more affected by the pandemic than those of males while male respondents had significantly higher expectations regarding the response of tourism businesses than females. With increasing age and decreasing income levels, respondents were significantly more likely to be concerned about the risk associated with travelling and their priorities concerning service quality/prices were more likely to be affected by the pandemic situation. Respondents with low levels of education were significantly more likely to declare a shift in priorities and had higher expectations regarding the response of tourism businesses compared with the rest of the sample. To halt this downward trend, it is critical to create good prospects for the rural environment and population; one option is to focus on rural tourism and agritourism. However, the absence of an intervention strategy in the agricultural sector creates uncertainty and even existential problems for many farmers. The article focuses on the Nitra (NR) and Košice (KE) regions of Slovakia (SR), which are characterised by highly fertile land enabling the development of agriculture, especially the production of organic food, regional tourism, and agritourism. The author proposes connecting agricultural production with rural tourism. Both regions are well-known for their winemaking and grape cultivation. Unfortunately, their fertile land is being destroyed to build industrial parks. As a result, their natural resources are not being utilised for the intended purpose. The study described in the article is based on a comparison of economic indicators, such as GDP and the unemployment rate in agriculture. The two regions supply a significant percentage of products manufactured in Slovakia. Celem artykułu jest analiza wykorzystania sposobów interpretacji dziedzictwa w zakresie ekspozycyjnym i edukacyjnym tego projektu. W badaniach wykorzystano metodę desk research oraz obserwację uczestniczącą. Zaprezentowane informacje dotyczące historii projektu, jego założeń, scenariusza, realizacji, działań mu towarzyszących oraz informacje z zakresu historii schronów przeciwlotniczych w Polsce i na terenie Nowej Huty były gromadzone przez autorkę tekstu podczas jej czynnego udziału w projekcie. 28 lutego 2019 r. udostępniono do zwiedzania pierwszy schron (pierwszy etap projektu), w którym przygotowano wystawę „Stan zagrożenia”. Towarzyszą jej wydarzenia edukacyjne: oprowadzania, lekcje muzealne, spacery, warsztaty. W planach są kolejne wystawy, a także nowe wyzwania edukacyjne. Wśród tych podmiotów znajdują się morscy przewoźnicy promowi, którzy przy okazji promocji swoich usług mogą również promować nadmorskie destynacje turystyczne. Głównym celem artykułu jest odpowiedź na pytanie, w jaki sposób morscy przewoźnicy promowi przyczyniają się do promocji nadmorskich obszarów recepcji turystycznej. Celem dodatkowym jest identyfikacja atrybutów i determinant turystyki promowej oraz wskazanie perspektyw jej rozwoju w Polsce. W artykule wykorzystano metodę analizy źródeł wtórnych, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem materiałów informacyjno-promocyjnych przewoźników. Badania wykazały, że jedynym obszarem emisji turystycznej jest Szwecja. Na polskim rynku turystycznym funkcjonuje czterech przewoźników, których promy łączą 3 porty w Polsce (Świnoujście, Gdynia, Gdańsk) z 4 portami w Szwecji (Karlskrona, Ystad, Trelleborg, Nynäshamn). Przewoźnicy oferują zróżnicowane produkty turystyczne, w tym pakiety obejmujące usługi świadczone na lądzie w Polsce. Promowane przez przewoźników miejscowości znajdują się przede wszystkim w województwach nadmorskich. Szczególnie bogatą ofertę turystyczną ma szwedzki przewoźnik Stena Line, którego promy łączą Gdynię z Karlskroną w Szwecji. Ma on charakter niezwykle złożony, gdyż dotyczy zarówno turystów, jak i rynku turystycznego. Należy go wiązać zarówno z możliwościami, jak i ograniczeniami odnoszącymi się często do samej organizacji ruchu turystycznego i jego właściwego zarządzania. Wspomniane procesy odzwierciedlają nakładające się na siebie zależności, w tym szczególnie prawno- administracyjne na poziomie lokalnym, regionalnym czy nawet międzynarodowym. Rozwój turystyki, szczególnie w okresie pandemii, jest przedmiotem dużego zainteresowania, m.in. ze względu na mnogość problemów i dynamikę pojawiających się zmian. Wydaje się, że przyszłością branży będzie tzw. nowa turystyka, oparta głównie na ekonomii doświadczenia, która powinna być elastyczna, ekologiczna, wielostronnie zintegrowana, różnorodna i społecznie zaangażowana. Realizacja tego modelu nie jest łatwa i wymaga ciągłego monitorowania potrzeb docelowych konsumentów, co w okresie pandemii stanowi duże wyzwanie. Artykuł stanowi podsumowanie projektu badawczego dotyczącego wpływu pandemii na rozwój turystyki na podstawie ocen przedsiębiorców należących do sektora MSP branży turystycznej. This is particularly important in the most popular national parks, such as the National Park in the Karkonosze Mountains (KNP). KNP is visited by two millions tourists annually, which makes it the second most popular national park in Poland. The aim of study was to classify visitors of the national park in terms of their motivation to visit. Three main categories of visitors were identified: leisure seekers, nature lovers and active tourists. The category of leisure seekers was the largest and most diverse with respect to their preferences. Nature lovers knew a lot about the park, especially as regards its geodiversity and its fauna and flora. The number of active visitors keeps growing every year. Active tourism, especially in the KPN, requires advanced equipment and good physical fitness. The findings of the study tourism trends in mountain national parks and can provide insights for its management. The author proposes expanding the meaning of recreation to include creative recreation by drawing on insights from psycho-pedagogical theories of creativity. Nowadays creative recreation is also being explored more broadly in the context of urban space, as exemplified by workshops during which participants try to create urban space. The phenomenon of creative recreation in urban space is therefore an interesting subject for research, especially with a view to identifying factors that determine where creative activity is organised. The main research question addressed in this article is who and why organises outdoor creative recreation in urban recreational space? The study focuses on Łódź, a UNESCO Creative City of Film, which is analysed as an example of a city promoting itself as a creative urban centre. The author analyses results of interviews with experts and organisers of outdoor creative recreation, which show the latter ones as open-minded, engaged, and passionate. Other important characteristics revealed by the interviewees include cooperation with others, attempts to look for new ways of organising leisure time and new forms of mutual promotion.
