Model-based formal timing analysis appears at first sight to be the adequate candidate for this purpose. However, its use in the industry is conditioned by a smooth and seamless integration in the development process. This is not an easy task due to the semantic mismatches between the design and timing analysis models but also due to the missing links to the testing phase after code implementation. In this paper, we present a model-based timing analysis framework we developed in the industrial context of satellite on-board software. The framework enables overcoming the above mentioned problems, thus allowing a fully integration and automation of model-based timing verification activities in the development process, as a mean to shorten the design time and reduce risks of timing failures.","PeriodicalId":336046,"journal":{"name":"2014 2nd International Conference on Model-Driven Engineering and Software Development (MODELSWARD)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-01-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127120020","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Model-driven engineering has been around for over a decade. Still, there has not been much work on how to type models or metamodels, which is important to realise true model-driven software development. In this paper, we discuss how a metamodel can be typed by means of an enclosing class whose state can be utilised by tools such as editors and interpreters. This allows using established object-oriented mechanisms on the metamodel level and supports specialisation of metamodels.","PeriodicalId":336046,"journal":{"name":"2014 2nd International Conference on Model-Driven Engineering and Software Development (MODELSWARD)","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-01-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124980171","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As an effective solution we present a generic toolkit enabling domain experts to develop data models and automatically generate a self-contained data access service. We defined a custom metamodel based on Ecore which can be readily used to create domain-specific data models. Using the generated data access service, instances of the modeled data residing on heterogeneous and distributed resources, such as databases and cloud data stores, are accessible from the individual application components via a language-independent Web service interface. We discuss the framework architecture, the toolkit implementation, the deployment process, as well as the performance of the data access service. Workflow designers as target users would benefit from the toolkit by using it for rapid and cost-efficient application integration.","PeriodicalId":336046,"journal":{"name":"2014 2nd International Conference on Model-Driven Engineering and Software Development (MODELSWARD)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-01-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123292543","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the obstacles is the existing methodology gap between informally described test purposes and formally defined test descriptions used as the starting point for test automation. The provision of an explicit test description becomes increasingly essential when integrating complex, distributed systems and providing support for conformance and interoperability tests of such systems. The upcoming ETSI standard on the Test Definition Language (TDL) covers this gap. It allows describing scenarios on a higher abstraction level than programming or scripting languages. Furthermore, TDL can be used as an intermediate representation of tests generated from other sources, e.g. simulators, test case generators, or logs from previous test runs. TDL is based on a meta-modelling approach that expresses its abstract syntax. Deploying this design approach, individual concrete syntaxes of TDL can be designed for different application domains. The paper provides an overview of TDL and discusses its application on a use case from the rail domain.","PeriodicalId":336046,"journal":{"name":"2014 2nd International Conference on Model-Driven Engineering and Software Development (MODELSWARD)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-01-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115252035","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Natural-language scenarios are a means to capture requirements in a way that can be understood by technical as well as non-technical stakeholders. In this paper, we use scenarios for the testing of structural properties of DSML core language models. In our approach, domain experts and DSML engineers specify requirements via structured natural-language scenarios. These scenario descriptions are then automatically transformed into executable test scenarios providing forward and backward traceability of domain requirements. To demonstrate the feasibility of our approach, we used Eclipse Xtext to implement a requirements language for the definition of semi-structured scenarios. Transformation specifications generate executable test scenarios that run in our test platform which is built on the Eclipse Modeling Framework and the Epsilon language family.","PeriodicalId":336046,"journal":{"name":"2014 2nd International Conference on Model-Driven Engineering and Software Development (MODELSWARD)","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-01-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130363403","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the results of a systematic survey we carried out evidenced the lack of a standard notation for designing non-functional test cases. For some time, the greatest attention of Model-Based Testing (MBT) research has focused on functional aspects. The only exception is represented by the UML Testing Profile (UML-TP) that is a lightweight extension of UML to support the design of testing artifacts, but it only provides limited support for non-functional testing. In this paper we provide a first attempt to extend UML-TP for improving the design of non-functional tests. The proposed extension deals with some important concepts of non-functional testing such as the workload and the global verdicts. As a proof of concept we show how the extended UML-TP can be used for modeling non-functional test cases of an application example.","PeriodicalId":336046,"journal":{"name":"2014 2nd International Conference on Model-Driven Engineering and Software Development (MODELSWARD)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-01-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129341395","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Current cloud systems have been developed without concerns of seamless cloud interconnection, and actually they do not support intercloud interoperability. The paper proposes a conceptual model for Intercloud Interoperability, to enable schedule dynamic operation for Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) between different clouds. The paper is providing a better understanding of elaborates on the cloud computing architecture, appropriate metrics for Service Level Agreements (SLA) and Quality of Service (QoS) models that are required for seamless integration and interoperability between cloud environments. Then, a conceptual model for the Intercloud Interoperability Framework for Workload Migration is proposed. The novel component of the framework that provides interoperability is the Transformation Engine that maps workload between heterogeneous cloud providers, whilst Model Driven Architecture (MDA) is adopted as an applicable method for developing the Transformation Engine module.","PeriodicalId":336046,"journal":{"name":"2014 2nd International Conference on Model-Driven Engineering and Software Development (MODELSWARD)","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-01-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132162384","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One challenge of designing these systems is to deal with the application of methodologies based on Model Driven Architecture (MDA). MDA is a development framework that enables the description of systems by means of different models with transformations. This is an important area of research and consists on developing methodologies to reduce cost and time spent during their development. In our case, SysML, targets system descriptions in a high level of abstraction and provide diagrams for requirements. SystemC language is chosen as an alternative to the traditional languages and its simulation kernel is an important aspect which allows the designer to evaluate the system behaviours through simulations. This paper proposes a combined approach based on MDA concepts and rules to transform SysML semi-formal model to SystemC. The transformations are ensured by ATL language. A traffic light system is taken as a reference case study and used to illustrate our practical application. It is implemented on TopCased platform.","PeriodicalId":336046,"journal":{"name":"2014 2nd International Conference on Model-Driven Engineering and Software Development (MODELSWARD)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-01-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114974592","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

ModelCC allows the specification of the abstract syntax model of a language as a set of language elements and their relationships. ModelCC provides the necessary mechanisms to specify the mapping from the abstract syntax model (ASM) to a concrete syntax model (CSM). This mapping can be specified as a set of metadata annotations on top of the abstract syntax model itself or by means of a domain-specific language (DSL). Using a domain-specific language to specify the mapping from abstract to concrete syntax models allows the definition of different concrete syntax models for the same abstract syntax model. In this paper, we describe the ModelCC domain-specific language for ASM-CSM mappings and we showcase its capabilities by using the ModelCC ASM-CSM DSL to define itself.","PeriodicalId":336046,"journal":{"name":"2014 2nd International Conference on Model-Driven Engineering and Software Development (MODELSWARD)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-01-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128573770","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
