It is worth noting that this activity has been passed, in most cases, from generation to generation. Thus, this work aimed to analyze the ethnobotanical knowledge of the residents of a rural community, mainly the local flora, emphasizing the purpose of use and the sources of obtaining knowledge. For this, a questionnaire was planned and developed about the use and knowledge acquired about medicinal plants, this questionnaire was applied to some residents of the Caracol community, which is located in the rural area of the municipality of Serrita, Pernambuco. Therefore, it was possible to observe and identify the knowledge and purposes about the various possibilities for the use of plants. It was noticed, from the results obtained, that the residents have a practical framework of knowledge about medicinal plants. Thirty-seven plant species used by individuals were identified, with lemon balm (Lippia alba (Mill.) N. E. Br. ex Britton & P. Wilson) being the most cited. Regarding the forms of use of medicinal plants, tea (66%) presented the most expressive result. With regard to the parts used, the most cited were leaves (46%) and bark (26%). In Brazil, cultivation occurs mainly in regions with a cold and humid climate such as the South, Southeast and Center-West, but it can also be cultivated in tropical climates. Thus, the objective of this work was to evaluate the growth of forage radish (Raphanus sativus L.) under different chemical, organic and microbiological fertilization conditions and to verify the level of adaptation of the culture submitted to the climatic conditions of the semi-arid region of Bahia. The experiment was conducted at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Bahia, Campus Bom Jesus da Lapa, where an area of 200m2 was used. The design was in randomized blocks (DBC), with four experimental plots containing each treatment in each one. Biometric responses (number of leaves, main stem length, transverse diameter and longitudinal diameter of the widest leaf) and the productive performance of the root system (mass, length and volume of the root system) were evaluated. The data obtained were submitted to analysis of variance and the means analyzed by the Tukey test, adopting a significance level of 5%. The results showed that the climatic conditions of the semiarid region of Bahia drastically reduced the duration of the crop's productive cycle, with the beginning of flowering reduced from seventy to twenty days after sowing, as well as accelerating the development of vargens, thus affecting the vegetative development and expansion of the root system.
