Specifically, we focus on a bit interleaved coded modulation (BICM) packet transmission implemented with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) and in the presence of automatic repeat request (ARQ) protocol. Based on a simple lower-bound of the rate of information bits received without any error, the so called goodput, we develop a power allocation strategy among the different subcarriers so that the system goodput performance metric is maximized. We also demonstrate the optimality of the solution for the proposed objective function under the given power constraint. Each user equipped with two transmit antennas is assigned two orthogonal data spreading codes and a third pilot spreading code to facilitate channel estimation. We propose a joint channel estimation and multiuser detection receiver. We show that the proposed scheme is multiuser interference (MUI) free and that increasing the number of users in the system does not affect the bit error-rate performance. Our study shows that by appropriately choosing the system parameters, we can achieve a fourth-order diversity gain without bandwidth expansion with one receive antenna at the base station. The proposed doping mechanism selects doping symbols randomly from the set of input symbols contributing to degree-two output symbols. Here an output symbol is the encoded symbol whose code-graph links to input symbols decoded thus far have been severed. This doping approach always ensures releasing of at least one output symbol, thus increasing the number of degree-one output symbols (the ripple). Using a random walk analysis, we study the belief propagation decoding with degree-two random doping for a fountain code with symbols drawn from an Ideal Soliton distribution. We show that the decoding process is a renewal process whereas the process starts all over afresh after each doping. The approximate interdoping process analysis revolves around a random walk model for the ripple size. We model the sequence of the ripple size increments (due to doping and/or decoding) as an iid sequence of shifted and truncated Poisson random variables. This model furnishes a prediction on the number of required doping symbols and, furthermore, the ARQ throughput cost analysis. Two scenarios are of interest. First, we consider networks where the sensor nodes communicate directly to the network coordinator. Then, we consider scenarios where sensor nodes communicate to the coordinator through an intermediate relay node, which forwards the packets received from the sources (i.e., the sensors). In both scenarios, no acknowledgment messages are used to confirm successful data packet deliveries, and communications are beaconed (i.e., they rely on synchronization packets denoted as \"beacons\"). In all considered scenarios, our focus is on networks where the relay and the source nodes have finite queues (denoted as buffers) to store data packets. Network performace is characterized in terms of aggregate network throughput and packet delivery delay. Our results show a very good agreement between the proposed analytical model and realistic ns-2 simulation results. This method uses two stages for symbol synchronization. In the first stage, we use guard interval based correlation for symbol synchronization. In the second stage, we use pilot subcarriers and linear interpolation method for channel estimation to improve the estimation accuracy of the transmitted data. A main challenge is to implement wireless access schemes in software on SDR platforms. 'Efficiency' is there the key target! Indeed, the SW efficiency largely impacts the energy SDRs will drain from the wireless terminal's battery. Moreover, SW design efficiency has been shown to become more and more the bottleneck in the total design effort and time for flexible radios. Therefore, a strategic plan is proposed, and results of its implementation on wireless access schemes are presented. A ray tracing (RT) model including diffuse scattering has been adopted, therefore allowing the tuning of the RT model and the analysis of the role of diffuse scattering in cross-polarization propagation. New spreading sequences, data/pilot structures and tiered codes obtained by cascading secondary and primary codes are just a few examples of the innovations introduced to improve measurement accuracy, tracking robustness and tracking sensitivity. However, to fulfill the aforementioned expectations and effectively provide superior navigation solution, new receiver architectures are required. To this end, this paper presents and compares different algorithms, namely non-coherent, semi- coherent, differentially coherent and coherent combining, for the joint acquisition of the data and pilot components of the new composite GNSS signals. Each strategy is detailed from a statistical point of view and a new methodology for the characterization of the false alarm probability for coherent combing is proposed. In this paper we will introduce a prototype design of SDR GNSS in stand-alone DSP platform. The GNSS receiver with has more than 12 GPS channels, which is implemented in a TI TMS320C6416 DSP chip. The chip will fulfill acquisition, tracking and positioning function in realtime.
