A landscape map of the underwater coastal slope has been drawn up, three bottom natural complexes (BNC) have been identified. The BNC of psephite deposits dominated by C. crinita and Tr. barbata (up to 89.7–78.6% of the total biomass of macrophytes) is the main one. This complex is characterized by high floristic diversity and maximum values of the biomass of macrophytobenthos. The BNC of psephite deposits with C. crinita and Tr. barbata to predominate and with pebble-gravel deposits with broken shells alternate, where Ph. crispa is the dominant species, is characterized by high floristic diversity and a decreased proportion of C. crinite and Tr. barbata, the contribution of Ph. crispa to the total biomass of macrophytes is 14.4%. The BNC of psammitic deposits with Ph. crispa to predominate and with separately randomly located blocks, where Nereia filiformis and Zanardinia typus predominate, is characterized by low floristic diversity, the predominance of Phyllophora crispa (74.3% of the total biomass of macrophytes), and the preservation of perennial species. For more than 50 years, there was a reorganization and degradation of the plant component in all BNC (depth 0.5–10 m), which was probably due to the intensification of anthropogenic activity in the coastal zone. Eudesme virescens, Dictyota dichotoma, Feldmania irrgularis, Dasya baillouviana and Rhodochorton purpureum, which live in clean, open areas of the coast, have disappeared from the bottom vegetation, and macrophytes (Cladophora laetevirens, Ectocarpus siliculosus and C. virgatum), typical for eutrophic waters, have appeared in the duodenum. The biomass of epiphytes has increased (from 0.1 to 42.6% of the total biomass of macrophytes), and the role of dominant species has decreased: C. crinita, Tr. barbata (from 99.9 to 78.6%) and Ph. crispa (from 52.9 to 14.4% of the total biomass of macrophytes). The organization of the “Karan’sky” Reserve contributed to the preservation and partial restoration of the unique natural complex of marine flora and bottom vegetation, which is confirmed by the increased floristic diversity of algaeindicators of clean waters and the increased proportion of the Red Data Book species.","PeriodicalId":33231,"journal":{"name":"Povolzhskii ekologicheskii zhurnal","volume":"20 1","pages":"47-63"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70079363","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The species composition of forest stands, the productivity of tree species, the composition of underwood, brushwood and ground cover in plantations were analyzed. Data on the distribution of forest stands of various ages, composition, types of underwood and brushwood, as well as the main dominants of the ground cover are presented. Our studies have shown that forest communities are quite distinctly different in the nature of all storeys. A preliminary assessment of the economic impact on the territory of the site made it possible to identify significant changes in all the components of forest ecosystems, namely, ground cover, the composition and productivity of forest stands. The diversity of forest ecosystems in the study area is due to the ability of many plant species to inhabit a wide range of ecological conditions, as well as the composition, age and crowncontact, which, in turn, determines the nature of the storey of shrubs and ground cover. The volume of the forest type was taken quite large, it combined plantations of all age stages of forest stands development. Features of forest vegetation, typical for split forests of the Southern Trans-Urals, were revealed, namely: mosaic vegetation cover, low crown-contact and the presence of open spaces species in the lower storeys. The materials obtained showed that, despite the significant anthropogenic transformation, the forest ecosystems of the study area retained the main features characteristic of the peculiar vegetation of the forest-steppe of southern Siberia. The research results will make it possible to assess the diversity of forest ecosystems, to give a preliminary forecast of the dynamics of the site's vegetation and can be used in the development of a scientifically grounded strategy for forest management in the region under the conditions of the joint action of many natural and anthropogenic factors.","PeriodicalId":33231,"journal":{"name":"Povolzhskii ekologicheskii zhurnal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43654482","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

R. Br. within the Kabardino-Balkar Republic in 2015–2019. The variability and plasticity of plants features provide their adaptation to various growing conditions and improve the morphological heterogeneity of coenopopulations. The dynamics of abundance, density, age structure and vitality of coenopopulations in the changing conditions of the environment provides information about life strategies of the species. Age conditions, the variability and plasticity of plants were studied on the basis of morphological parameters of the aboveground organs without digging the plants. The studies were conducted in meadow plant communities under various conditions of anthropogenic load (recreation and grazing). The species is characterized by medium-high phytocenotic plasticity of morphological characters (Ip = 38–68%) and high variability of morphological characters (CVх¯ср = 17.10– 33.63%) under changeable growth conditions. Intensification of growth processes in the individuals with the maximum increase of the coenopopulation vitality (IVC = 0.98– 1.16) was observed in the composition of undisturbed highly wet meadows; the portion of generative individuals increased in their ontogenetic spectra (48.6–56.5%). Under the anthropogenic load intensification, the vitality of coenopopulations (IVC = 0.82– 0.95) and the density of individuals decreased; the portion of virginal individuals increased in their ontogenetic spectra (rubbly meadows) or coenopopulations were clearly aging. The rate of the seed reproduction of coenopopulations, where the density of individuals accounted for 16 ind./m2 , was high on rubbly substrata with low total projective cover (60%). Our studies have identified the mixed type of life strategy for Gymnadenia conopsea with stress-tolerant and ruderal components. The ruderal-stress-tolerant life strategy allows the species to grow for a long time in conditions of high interspecific competition and anthropogenic load, spreading quickly to unoccupied territories.","PeriodicalId":33231,"journal":{"name":"Povolzhskii ekologicheskii zhurnal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46332961","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The taxonomic structure, quantitative characteristics, dominant species, features of the distribution of the main groups of algae were studied. The algal flora includes 191 infrageneric algal taxa (168 species) from 6 divisions, 10 classes, 24 orders, 51 families and 86 genera. The taxonomic spectrum is based on diatoms (67.5% of the total numbers), green algae (21%), and cyanobacteria (9%). In the environmental and geographical aspects, the epilithon is mainly represented by widespread salinityindifferent benthic and plankton-benthic species, having an optimum in slightly alkaline or neutral waters. The epiliton of the Chusovaya river has reached a fairly high level of development. The values of the total biomass varied from 1.46 to 46.32 g/m2, and the abundance did from 1.5 to 31.7 billion cells/m2. The species diversity index (an average of 3.22±0.18) indicates species-rich and balanced algocenoses of the Chusovaya river, while in summer the indices are 1.9–2.2 times lower than in autumn. The dominant algae species differed in seasons, they were represented by diatoms or cyanobacteria in terms of their number, and by diatoms in terms of their biomass. In water samples with epilithon flushing, higher concentrations of chemical substances (NH4+, NO3-, PO43-, and Fetot) were noted than in river water, indicating the ability of the epilithon to accumulate substances. Significant changes in the biomass and/or abundance of epilithon as a function of the content of chemical substances in water and fouling washes were revealed. By the value of the saprobity index (from 1.34 to 2.27), the sanitary-biological state of the water in the Chusovaya river is assessed as satisfactorily pure (II–III water quality classes), the saprobity zone is ο-β-, β-mesosaprobic.","PeriodicalId":33231,"journal":{"name":"Povolzhskii ekologicheskii zhurnal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70079000","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To build the model, we analyzed a matrix containing 166 B. versicolor localities in the studied region; the analysis was carried out in the SDMtoolbox program using the climatic paramaters from the WorldClim open database. The model demonstrates that, given the available dataset on the modern climatic conditions, B. versicolor may occur in a wider geographical range comprising, at the very least, the Belgorod, Voronezh, Volgograd, Lipetsk, Penza, Rostov and Saratov provinces. Also, within European Russia, the most favorable conditions for B. versicolor are found in most of the Voronezh and Volgograd provinces as well as in some areas of the Right Bank and Left Bank of the Volga River adjacent to the Volga Upland (in the Saratov province). The maximum occurrence probability is 70–100% while the average occurrence probability is 40– 60%. The maximum contribution to the model is made by the precipitation of the warmest and most humid quarter (June–August); a smaller contribution is made by the average temperature of the coldest (December–February) and warmest (June – August) quarters as well as by the average annual precipitation. The least contribution is made by the precipitation of the most humid month (July) and the driest quarter (March–May). Finally, we conclude that bioclimatic model facilitates a better understanding of the geographical distribution of the species in question.","PeriodicalId":33231,"journal":{"name":"Povolzhskii ekologicheskii zhurnal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43017393","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The female spent the winter in a burrow prepared by herself inside a wintering cage from October 2018 till May 2019. A temperature logger was implanted to the animal intraperitoneally to record body temperature at 20-min intervals. Regular bouts of hypothermia started in mid-October. The longevity of each hypothermia bout increased whereas the minimum body temperature decreased and reached its lowest value in March. Later, the process proceeded backwards until the end of the heterothermia period. In the apical region of the incisor, daily increments were wide and well-distinguished which indicates that they had formed before the onset of the heterothermal period. In the basal region, closer to the growth zone, the increments were narrow and distinct, and their number corresponded in general to the number of normothermia episodes bouts. At the very base of the incisor as well as at its apical part, typical daily increments were revealed again. However, no correlation between the longevity of normothermia bouts and the width of increments was found. These data varied greatly from two other hamsters. In the Ciscaucasian hamster (Mesocricetus raddei) the number and character of increments comply with the number and duration of normothermia bouts, in the Common hamster (Cricetus cricetus), the “hibernation zone” was not recorded on the incisor surface. The Turkish hamster demonstrate an intermediate pattern, which we explain by quite different hibernation conditions of these species.","PeriodicalId":33231,"journal":{"name":"Povolzhskii ekologicheskii zhurnal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46049702","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During 1984– 2017, the average annual air temperature was 4.63±0.41°C, and the average annual rainfall was 2.14±0.12 mm/day. For eight of the 43 (19%) climatic parameters, reliable linear trends of variability were found: an increase of air temperature in July, August, September, and December; an increase of soil temperature in December; an increase of precipitation in November and December; and a decrease of precipitation in September. Three causes of their directed long-term changes were revealed, namely: a shift of the winter timing, violation of the annual dynamics of climatic parameters and a change in the precipitation type during a longer autumn – snow to be replaced by rain. Of the 11 species of vascular plants, the statistical significance of the long-term displacement of phenological dates was proven for Anemone nemorosa: the longer the autumn and softer the beginning of the winter, the earlier the onset of its flowering. Two classification types of vascular plants in identifying interspecific synchrony in the phenological events variation were considered. Variability components of phenological phenomena occurrence was estimated: the share of long-term trends of the shift in phenological dates timing due to changes in reserve climatic system is from 20 to 68% of the total sign dispersion; interannual climatic fluctuations explain 5–34% of its variability; and the proportion of variability under unaccounted factors influence is high (21–64%). Species with a high proportion of their long-term variability components (Anemone nemorosa: more than 60%) are recommended to use as indicators of climate change under the conditions of the study area.","PeriodicalId":33231,"journal":{"name":"Povolzhskii ekologicheskii zhurnal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46352971","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A simulation was carried out in the MapInfo program. The essence of our digital experiment was as follows: in several places of the model territory, which was a circle 5 km in diameter, daily tracks of animals were placed. Next, a grid of parallel routes oriented along 12 equally spaced directions relative to each other was applied to the model territory. The frequency of the route grid (the distance between parallel routes) for different tracks was chosen so that the total number of all intersections of a single track in all directions was not less than a thousand. In total, 19 electronic daily tracks of various animal species were used. 95 different actual values of the proportionality coefficient were obtained for various locations of the tracks in the model territory, no violations of the above mentioned consequence were found. The results of our experiment made it possible to formulate a corollary arising from the fundamental properties of Euclidean geometry on the directly proportional dependence between the number of intersections between the lines of daily animal tracks and route lines and the product of the total lengths of these lines. The mathematical justification of WRC has once again passed a simulation test, already using the means of geographical information systems and data from satellite navigators. At present, there are no grounds for abandoning the practical use of winter route counting for game animals. All possible discrepancies in the estimates of the numbers of game animals determined by the WRC method with their actual values should be attributed to shortcomings in the direct organization of this counting rather than to its mathematical justification.","PeriodicalId":33231,"journal":{"name":"Povolzhskii ekologicheskii zhurnal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70078919","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the 2000s the water quality in the Khoper river was considered as one of the best in Europe, but now the waters have become more polluted, and flow regulation (even with a low-pressure dam) may cause declension of their condition due to disruption of the water exchange process. The aim of the study was to evaluate the river flow regulation effect on the floristic diversity of vascular aquatic plants and the water quality in the vicinity of the Potlovskaya Dam near the source of the Khoper River (Penza region, Russia). The content of nutrients in water was estimated since their concentration and ratio determine the trophic status, water quality, and the state of aquatic vegetation, which is important in assessing the status of the environment of a particular region. Water chemistry and plants were sampled at two sites, one being upstream of the Dam, the other one being downstream. We have found that flow regulation by this small hydraulic installation causes some changes in the hydrochemical regime but does not affect the floristic diversity.","PeriodicalId":33231,"journal":{"name":"Povolzhskii ekologicheskii zhurnal","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42845570","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It was observed that in 1926–1932 all the main phenological stages of vital activities in the little gopher populations took place exclusively during the spring-summer period (March–August). It was substantiated that under the influence of the current climate warming conditions in 2000–2015, as compared to 1926–1932, the emergence from hibernation had started to occur in winter months (January–February). The start and end of the gestation period was registered between the first ten days of February and the third ten days of March. Respectively, the preparation to hibernation (battening) among the adult specimens happened earlier (March–April) and terminated, predominantly, in May. The first appearance of the young stock on the surface and its dissemination started to take place in April–May. Young animals’ going dormant in mass was noted in late June-early July. An upward trend, as compared to the period of 1926–1932, in the total duration of young stock hibernation (July–January or February) was noted. The lower intensity of feeding migrations among adult gopher individuals to topographically low areas was also revealed.","PeriodicalId":33231,"journal":{"name":"Povolzhskii ekologicheskii zhurnal","volume":"14 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70078883","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
