Therefor, this study was designed to evaluate persistence of Lambda-cyhalothrin in / on fresh orange fruits and investigate its effect on fruit quality. The insecticide residues were determined using GCECD system. Also, the biochemical parameters were determined using spectrophotometric techniques. The results showed that a waiting period of 7days after application on orange is enough to reduce the Lambda-cyhalothrin residues to below the maximum residue limits (MRL). Lambda-cyhalothrin rapidly disappeared with half-life (t 1⁄2) of 1.6 days on orange fruits. Furthermore, the ascorbic acid content and dry matter percentage were significantly reduced however, total protein content, acidity (%), moisture(%) and total soluble solids (T.S.S,%) were significantly increased in Lambda-cyhalothrin treated compared to untreated orange fruits.","PeriodicalId":332125,"journal":{"name":"Menoufia Journal of Plant Protection","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125709531","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hence, the predation efficiency and preference of both larvae and adult of seven-spot ladybird, Coccinella septempunctata Linnaeus and the eleven-spot ladybird, Coccinella undecimpunctata Linnaeus on four prey species i.e., the green peach aphid, Myzus persicae (Sulzer), the cotton aphid, Aphis gossypii Glover, the bird cherry-oat aphid, Rhopalosiphum padi (Linnaeus) and onion thrips, Thrips tabaci Lindeman were evaluated under laboratory conditions at varying prey densities using a clear glass jars. There were significant differences between the consumed numbers of the four different species by the two different lady beetle species. The most consumed prey by C. septempunctata was the A. gossypii followed by M. persicae then R. padi and finally T. tabaci and these results were repeated in case of C. undecimpunctata with less feeding voracious. As the grubs of C. septempunctata and C. undecimpunctata developed from 1 to 4 larval instars, the consumption rates from aphid species and thrips increased. The consumption rates of M. persicae, A. gossypii, R. padi and T. tabaci significantly increased with the advancement in the larval stage of the two predators. The forth larval instar of C. septempunctata and C. undecimpunctata exhibited the highest predatory potential comparing to the first, second and third larval instars. The numbers of prey eaten by adult stage or different instars of larvae of the two predators increased significantly with prey density and reaching the maximum value when 150 preys were provided compared with 50 and 100 preys.","PeriodicalId":332125,"journal":{"name":"Menoufia Journal of Plant Protection","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115035062","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Menoufia Univ. The study was conducted to evaluate the effect of light color and exposure time, on some technology and physiology characters of silkworm, Bombyx mori L. Reeled silk filament characters, length (m), weight (g) and size (denier) were measured in the cocoons resulted from silkworm larvae exposed todifferent colors and lighting periods. The highest mean treatment length of reeled silk filament of cocoon spun by B. mori larvae exposed during the 4th instar was (1119.2 m) at green light 24 hr, followed by blue light 12 hr recording (1077.76 m) while green light 12hrrecorded (954.4m, compared to control cocoon (1109.76 m). In addition, statistical analysis of the obtained results revealed that there were significant differences in the prolongation in silk filament length as compared to the control. The highest mean of reeled silk filament weight (0.228 g) was recorded at the cocoons spun by B. mori larvae exposed to green light 24 hr, followed by that exposed to red light 12 hr recording (0.216 g) and blue light 12 hr (0.214 g) compared with (0.232 g) for control. Statistical analysis of the data indicated that there were high significant differences between lights and times in all treatments. The highest mean size of reeled silk filament (2.08 dn) was recorded for the larvae exposed to red light 24 hr, followed by red light 12 hr treatment giving (2.01dn), followed by (1.99 dn) at natural light treatment, and (1.96 dn) which was recorded at blue light 24 hr treatment, compared with control which attained (1.91dn). Data regarding the biochemical analysis of total soluble protein, and protein enzymes (ALT and AST) and total fats in silk gland of silkworm larvae exposed to light and several times. The obtained results are as follow: The total soluble protein content in silk worm larvae silk gland ranged between 1.92 mg/ml for blue light 24 hr, 1.88 mg/ml for red light 12 hr and 1.87 mg/ml for green light 12 hr compared to 1.94 mg/ml for the control larvae for silk gland samples. The total soluble protein content in silk worm larvae blood ranged between 2.68 mg/ml for green light 24 hr, 2.61 mg/ml for blue light 24 hr and 2.67 mg/ml for natural light compared to 2.45 mg/ml for the control larvae for blood samples. The total fats content of silk worm larval silk gland ranged between 139 mg/ml for natural light, 137 mg/ml for red light 24 hr and 131 mg/ml for red light 12 hr compared to 127 mg/ml for the control larvae for silk gland samples. The total soluble fats content in silk worm larvae blood ranged between 114 mg/ml for blue light 24 hr, 107 mg/ml for dark and 90 mg/ml for natural light compared to 98 mg/ml for the control larvae for blood samples. Silk gland activities of glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (ALT) and Glutamic pyruvic transaminase (AST) enzymes in silk worm were measured.","PeriodicalId":332125,"journal":{"name":"Menoufia Journal of Plant Protection","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123638944","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The seasonal abundance and activity periods of different stages of P. ziziphi and its associated parasitoid on navel orange trees and the effects of some weather factors on both insect and parasitoid were considered. The obtained results revealed that the total numbers of alive stages had two peaks of activity during the first year (2015-2016) they took place at September and January. While, during the second year (2016-2017) the total number of alive stages showed one peak of activity there was in September. Aphytis sp. (Hymenoptera: Aphelinidae) was recorded as a parasitoid of P. ziziphi which appeared two peaks of parasitism during the first year (2015-2016) in November and May. While, during the second year one peak was occurred in November. The total effects of some weather factors (Temp.oC, RH% and solar radiation) in this study on the total numbers of alive stages of P. ziziphi during the two successive years were 89.47 and 85.30%, successively. The obtained results revealed that P. ziziphi had two to three annual generations on navel orange trees, the generation durations were varied from three to five months.","PeriodicalId":332125,"journal":{"name":"Menoufia Journal of Plant Protection","volume":"169 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133163119","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
