If the sensor node’s energy is depleted, it could affect the connectivity of the network as a whole. The available energy of sensor nodes is therefore the most valuable resource, and optimization can enhance the lifetime of the network. The optimization significantly depends of the energy model of the MAC layer. This paper proposes a whale optimization algorithm for optimizing the transmitted power model, with a goal to minimize the energy consumption per bit. The results of the conducted experiments indicate that the proposed model obtains better performances than the simple model before application of the algorithm, therefore affecting and prolonging the overall network lifetime.","PeriodicalId":330449,"journal":{"name":"2021 29th Telecommunications Forum (TELFOR)","volume":"41 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120902959","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents a use-case of a multi-tenant software solution, where each tenant generates a stream of data that is subsequently processed. The processing output contains metrics to be presented on an analytical dashboard. The tenants are web applications developed using Ruby on Rails, the data streams ingestion and processing platform are developed using a Kafka cluster and KSQL, the analytical dashboard is developed using NodeJS. The use-case is evaluated by measuring the scalability through the response time from data stream creation to metrics display. The experiments are specified by changing the number of tenants and the workload for each tenant. The results show that the system can scale with regard to the number of tenants. The response time increases by 10% to 20%, when the number of tenants increases by 100% to 150%. With regard to the number of data items within the data stream, the response time is stable.","PeriodicalId":330449,"journal":{"name":"2021 29th Telecommunications Forum (TELFOR)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122472845","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, in an OMB system, a power optimization procedure needs to be performed in order to avoid a severe performance degradation mainly due to the impact of inter-band effects. For this purpose, in this work, we exploit a recently introduced power optimization strategy which allows for a balanced Optical Signal to Noise plus Interference Ratio (OSNIR) between all bands of a five-band system, in order to quantify the impact of the main physical layer impairments in each band. We demonstrate that with the proposed power allocation methodology, the impact of all physical layer impairments can be balanced concurrently in all bands, increasing the number of available channels with sufficient attainable performance, leading in this way to an improved network connectivity.","PeriodicalId":330449,"journal":{"name":"2021 29th Telecommunications Forum (TELFOR)","volume":"121 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132477684","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the recent active interest in the unsupervised learning paradigm in the RL research community, the option framework was adapted to utilize the concept of empowerment, which corresponds to the amount of influence the agent has on the environment and it’s ability to perceive this influence, and which can be optimized without any supervision provided by the environment’s reward structure. Many recent papers modify this concept in various ways achieving commendable results. Through these various modifications, however, the initial context of empowerment is often lost. In this work we offer a comparative study of such papers through the lens of the original empowerment principle.","PeriodicalId":330449,"journal":{"name":"2021 29th Telecommunications Forum (TELFOR)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131456121","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hence, the International Commission for Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) announced the updated guidelines – ICNIRP 2020, that should ensure protection against all recognized health hazards when population is exposed to the EMFs, in the range of 100 kHz up to 300 GHz. The newest updates to the limits are based on the improved scientific accuracy, providing in addition the limits for exposure situations that were not considered in earlier guidelines – ICNIRP 1998. One of the key outcomes of ICNIRP 2020 is also strong recommendation for countries to perform updates of their national EMF legislation in order to be aligned with the up-to-date recommendations. In that sense, this paper is intended to make a short overview of certain ICNIRP 2020 features and their reflections on Serbian EMF legislation, highlighting parts of national legislation that should be altered.","PeriodicalId":330449,"journal":{"name":"2021 29th Telecommunications Forum (TELFOR)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115002970","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, the main sources of error are determined by the errors in measuring the reflection and transmission coefficients using a vector network analyzer. The Nicholson-Ross-Weir method is used to calculate the complex permittivity. The calculation of the error in determining the real and imaginary parts of the dielectric constant in a wide frequency range is shown. The proposed method allows to determine with high accuracy the boundaries of uncertainty when conducting an experimental study of a material sample.","PeriodicalId":330449,"journal":{"name":"2021 29th Telecommunications Forum (TELFOR)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-11-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124803677","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
