In the offshore environment, however, such properties are probably different from those in a compartment of onshore facilities because the fire source location changes with time due to the influence of complex ship motion. Thus, in this study large eddy simulation of a turbulent buoyant plume originating at an oscillating fire source was carried out to clarify the fire plume property in the offshore environment. As a preliminary study, unsteady fire source movement associated with ship rolling motion was simplified to a simple harmonic motion in a horizontal direction.
