The batch microwave coal drying was obtained at 300 and 500W of power and was compared with the muffle thermal drying at 80°C. The results show that batch microwave drying is able to remove the 50% of the contain moisture within the coal delaying 10% of the required time by muffle technique. Was found that microwave process do not affect Hard Grove Index, the Calorific Value, and the Ash content coal properties.","PeriodicalId":330140,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Symposium on Alternative Energies and Energy Quality (SIFAE)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121987518","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the main goals of this kind of systems is to extract the maximum power from the panel. In this paper it is proposed to use the P&O algorithm working together with a PID controller; the latter is used to find the Maximum Power Point (MPP) and the former's aim is, besides a good tracking of the reference signal generated by P&O algorithm, the rejection of disturbances coming from changes in the environment. As a tool for system analysis and controller design, it is proposed state space modeling for this problem. By means of simulation, the performance of the solution is illustrated the control system enables the operation, at every moment, at the maximum power point, showing robustness to changes in irradiance and variations of battery voltage.","PeriodicalId":330140,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Symposium on Alternative Energies and Energy Quality (SIFAE)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116361966","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When a PQ disturbance is detected and measured it has to be characterized to obtain the parametric data related with it; this way, it can be classified according to international standards. To make the characterization process it has been relevant the use of digital signal processing techniques like digital filtering and shifting functions. In this paper digital filters, cancelation filters and delay functions are proposed to characterize PQ disturbances. The results suggest that the developed algorithms can be easily implemented in field instruments due to their simplicity and low computational effort required for his operation.
