These parameters may deviate from their manufactured value(name plate parameters) with the passage of time. Therefore the need is to measure these parameters periodically and modify the system accordingly. In this research a novel and eco-nomical motor test bench has been developed to measure performance parameters of (single phase and three phase) new as well as used AC motors more conveniently. Test parameters are displayed on user friendly Human Machine Interface (HMI) screen. Tests are performed according to IEC 60034-2-1.","PeriodicalId":330104,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Energy Conservation and Efficiency (ICECE)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130210042","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) based MWFs are considered for documented study in this paper. The main attention and focus were drawn towards Rotor Side Converter(RSC) Control. A case study of 27MW grid tied MWFs under symmetrical and asymmetrical faults is carried out in MATLAB/Simulink. In order to validate the effectiveness of the proposed cascaded control strategy, simulation results were compared with PI controller. We effectively reduce rotor side over currents with proposed control approach. The simulation results for electromagnetic torque, further demonstrated enhanced overall performance of the MWFs with proposed control scheme.","PeriodicalId":330104,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Energy Conservation and Efficiency (ICECE)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125653463","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The electrical demand is typically supplied by conventional fossil fuel generation that induces high cost and increased carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. Therefore, to overcome abovementioned issues, there is a pressing need to supply the consumer demand using hybrid energy system with low cost and reduced CO2 emissions. The analytical assessment of optimal hybrid power generation system at University campus is performed during load shedding hours or unavailability of power supply from the conventional power system. Further, this paper analyzes four various configurations of the power system that includes: (a) Diesel based, (b) Photo Voltaic (PV) based, (c) Wind based, and (d) Wind and PV based power generation system. Cost of Energy (COE) and Net Present Cost (NPC) plays a vital role in opting for power generation system. Therefore, this research will analyze COE and NPC for the abovementioned configurations using Hybrid Optimization Model for Electric Renewables (HOMER) software. A configuration with reduced COE and NPC will be proposed for University campus.","PeriodicalId":330104,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Energy Conservation and Efficiency (ICECE)","volume":"83 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133046020","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In contrast, existing evaporative cooling methods can only cool an air to around its wet-bulb temperature. However, the modification in an indirect evaporative cooler has enabled to obtain a temperature below its wet bulb temperature, and towards its dew point temperature. Two types of heat and mass exchangers (HMXes) are under extensive research for air conditioning applications specifically based on M-Cycle applications, namely, counter and cross-flow HMXes. In this research paper, a comparative performance study of both heat exchangers is presented based on their cooling effectiveness, Coefficient of Performance (COP), and cooling capacity. For both types of HMX, balances of mass, momentum and energy are computed. The resulting coupled ordinary differential equations with coupled boundary conditions are discretized using first order accurate finite difference numerical formulation. The governing equations are simulated using purposely developed code. Validation is obtained by comparing the predicted results with experimental studies of HMX in both flow configurations. Results are presented by varying ambient temperature, humidity, and flow rate. It is concluded that a cross flow HMX is more viable for commercial use because of its ease of construction and higher COP values, whereas, a counter flow HMX offers more cooling effectiveness.","PeriodicalId":330104,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Energy Conservation and Efficiency (ICECE)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125558444","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study also provides comparison of (Maisotsenko-cycle) M-Cycle based system with other evaporative cooling systems. An experimental system of M-Cycle has been setup and experiments are conducted for various ambient air conditions. The data has been analyzed, and based on the analyses the performance of the proposed M-cycle system has been investigated for summer (April to September) climatic conditions of Multan region (Pakistan). It has been found that the proposed system can provide the useful air-conditioning effect for Multan climate conditions provided that the ambient air relative humidity does not exceed 60%. The system's applicability is found limited in humid conditions, which is due to nature of M-cycle operation.","PeriodicalId":330104,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Energy Conservation and Efficiency (ICECE)","volume":"148 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121766428","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper, based on the adoption of sustainable techniques in the development of Green building, Major barrier towards sustainable construction is the waste generated at the different stages of construction. Waste production causes several problems, such as their deposition make soil infertile and causes environment contamination through, air and water pollution. Material of old buildings can be recycled and use in the construction of new buildings. The construction which consumes less cost, utilize less natural resources with less environmental degradation is known as sustainable construction. Architect and Contractor are the responsible for the sustainable construction. In sustainable construction, Architect designs, building as per client perception but by following sustainability techniques. The contractor is responsible for the implementation of sustainable design. Material selection is the critical step in sustainable construction. Steel is a most appropriate sustainable material produces low waste, efficient and more durable. It has high compressive strength and causes less environmental degradation. Latest technology in sustainable construction is the development of Green Roof which make interior of building pleasant with low cost. The Purpose of this review paper is to present techniques and material selection towards the construction of green building. After the detail analysis on the construction material, suitable adjustment suggested towards the project construction. Sustainable building consumes low cost, causes less environmental degradation and meet today as well as next generation demands.","PeriodicalId":330104,"journal":{"name":"2017 International Conference on Energy Conservation and Efficiency (ICECE)","volume":"52 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121928380","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
