Sementes em estudo foram submetidas a testes de germinação, índice de velocidade de germinação bem como condutividade elétrica, teor de potássio e açucares realizados no líquido de sementes deixadas em imersão. Realizou-se avaliação da atividade específica da peroxidase e peroxidação de lipídeos nas sementes após 12 meses de armazenamento. Menores índices porcentuais de germinação foram observados para o tratamento da Erva de Santa Maria na concentração 4ul/g. O teste de condutividade elétrica realizado aos 6 meses demonstrou menores valores para os tratamentos com 1ul/g e 3ul/g para este óleo, sendo que aos 12 meses de armazenamento não foi possível constatar diferenças estatísticas entre os tratamentos. Concentração de 1 µl/g da aroeira pimenta resultou em maior atividade da enzima peroxidase aos 12 meses de armazenamento, diferindo da testemunha e evidenciando um possível efeito do óleo no sequestro de espécies reativas ao oxigênio. Todos os tratamentos realizados com óleo de Erva de Santa Maria tiveram sua atividade enzimática diminuída, e um aumento, ainda que não significativo, da peroxidação, e diminuição da capacidade germinativa, evidenciando morte das sementes.","PeriodicalId":328843,"journal":{"name":"Fronteiras: Journal of Social, Technological and Environmental Science","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136234292","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, its detrimental effects on lakes and reservoirs, such as a decrease in water quality, abundance and richness of macrophytes, and macroinvertebrate abundance, are also known. In this study, we investigated the effect of common carp introduction on the macroinvertebrate community in a shallow lake in the Brazilian semiarid region. The study in Panati lake took place between 2002 and 2008 with the introduction of common carp in 2004. Shallow lakes from Our results showed that after common carp introduction, there was a significant reduction in the richness and diversity of the macroinvertebrate community, as well as an increase in the dominance of certain groups, such as chironomids. The decrease in richness and diversity is likely a result of the decline in abundance of key dominant benthic groups and species, such as the gastropods Pomacea lineata (Spix, 1827), Biomphalaria straminea (Dunker, 1848), Aplexa marmorata (Guilding, 1828) and Plesiophysa ornata (Haas 1938), oligochaetes, and ostracods, as well as several insect families. Thus, this research aimed to identify the biomonitoring indices based on macroinvertebrates in the evaluation of the quality of the water used and to identify its application trends. The study was developed through a scientometric review over a 20-year period (2000–2020). The search consisted of articles indexed in the Scielo, ScienceDirect, and Scopus databases, based on the keywords “biotic index” * OR “aquatic macroinvertebrates” * OR “benthic macroinvertebrates” * OR “Biomonitoring” * AND “water quality.” Selection, such as inclusion and exclusion, was applied in the Start program (State of the Art through Systematic Review-Start). The results showed that the EPT index (Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera, and Trichoptera) was the most used among all researched databases (20%), and among the Ecological Indicators journals from which the largest number of publications were obtained (11%). Regarding the indices used in biomonitoring research, the ASPT index (average score per taxon) was the only one with a tendency to increase in use over the years (R² = 0.29; p < 0.05). Although the biomonitoring indices are commonly used worldwide denoting that it is still an alternative tool, this literature review showed that among the indices only one has a trend of use, which must be considered for further research.","PeriodicalId":328843,"journal":{"name":"Fronteiras: Journal of Social, Technological and Environmental Science","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136318173","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The body image dissatisfaction (BID) is considered a public health problem, it is an important risk factor for disorders related to mental health, which is highly prevalent in adolescents and has an impact on social behavior. We aimed to evaluate the possible association between BID and the mental health aspects of depression and risk of eating disorders and identify the prevalence in adolescent boys and girls. The sample consisted of 308 adolescent students: 167 girls (54.2%) and 141 boys (45.8%). BID was identified by the silhouette scale. The Childhood Depression Scale (CDS) and Eating Attitudes Test (EAT-26) were used to assess MH. The chi-squared contingency test showed an association between body image and mental health variables in both sexes. Results: 70.1% of the girls and 76.6% of the boys exhibited BID. The girls demonstrated a significant association between body image and depressive symptoms (X(1) = 8.523; p = 0.004) and the risk of ED (X(1) = 14.281; p = 0.000). Beyond this level, further development may result in socio-cultural deterioration or a decrease in the quality of the visitor experience. This study aims to assess the tourist carrying capacity of the Silvânia National Forest, situated approximately 7 km from the urban center of Silvânia in the Goias State. To achieve this, we used the highly adaptable Cifuentes method to establish field variables based on ecosystem criteria. Our findings indicate that the study area has the capacity to accommodate more visitors than it currently does, and the social correction factor received the most attention due to the diversity of distances between groups and visiting times. It is important to increase the tourist offerings in a way that is appropriate to the characteristics of the territory and fulfills the management objectives without damaging the natural space in order to reach the expected limit of visits. Nevertheless, it is crucial to continuously monitor the local biodiversity because the predicted increase in tourist visits shouldn't have an impact on its preservation.","PeriodicalId":328843,"journal":{"name":"Fronteiras: Journal of Social, Technological and Environmental Science","volume":"49 2.3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136234129","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These environments play a pivotal role in global biodiversity, carbon cycling, and ecosystem services. Due to the worldwide loss and degradation of these habitats, grassland birds are experiencing an unprecedented population decline. This work aims to supply an in-depth exploration of the conservation status of Cerrado grassland birds, including their population trends, protective measures, and primary threats within this bird group. Through an exhaustive literature review, conference of endangered species databases, and field data of grassland birds gathered by us, we compiled a comprehensive dataset detailing the trends, threats, and distribution of Cerrado grassland birds. The Cerrado, the world's largest savanna and Brazil's second-largest biome, accommodates 116 bird species specialized in grassland formations, including 13 endemics. Significantly, a notable proportion (26%) of endangered bird species in the Cerrado are strongly associated with grasslands. The primary threats faced by this group encompass habitat loss and degradation, the proliferation of exotic grass species, and the recurrent incidence of wildfires. Upon analyzing population trends, a concerning 37% of Cerrado grassland birds show declining numbers, with inadequate representation in existing protected areas. While grasslands hold global significance, conservation endeavors often give precedence to tropical forests. The preservation of central Brazil's grassland formations assumes utmost importance in safeguarding the abundant biodiversity of the Cerrado. These formations function as pivotal habitats for endangered and declining bird species, underscoring the pressing need to develop conservation strategies attuned to the unique challenges posed by grassland environments.","PeriodicalId":328843,"journal":{"name":"Fronteiras: Journal of Social, Technological and Environmental Science","volume":"3 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136316999","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
