Chinese high-technology industries have to face the difficulties of relatively low capital accumulation, low R&D competence and imperfect institution infrastructure, etc. How to help them to enter into good evolutionary processes by technological and institutional innovation is really an important and challenging problem to the theory and practice of technology management in developing countries. In this paper, the authors analyze the problem from the point of systems evolutionary dynamics and try to present some policy suggestions.","PeriodicalId":328103,"journal":{"name":"Innovation in Technology Management. This paper reports on the evaluation of a new executive program in the management of technology (EMoT) after its third year. The paper reviews the background of the program, the pedagogical foundations, and the purpose and scope of the program. The evaluation was conducted using a self-administered mail survey to the former participants and to their corporate sponsors. The respondents' indicated high satisfaction with the program's content and focus. As an indicator of the program's impact, all of the graduates in the program had been assigned greater responsibilities since their participation in the program. Participants and corporate sponsors were almost unanimous (only one expressing some ambivalence) in believing that EMoT program participation was instrumental in the graduates' increased responsibilities and contribution to the organization.","PeriodicalId":328103,"journal":{"name":"Innovation in Technology Management. With deregulation and increased number of changes in the telecommunications business it has become necessary for established and hew organisations aiming at that business, to systematically monitor that market in search for opportunities. To be able to handle the immense flow of information available, a structure is necessary. This paper talks about gains to be made from handling early market requirements, in a structured way, and outlines a structure of a knowledge base. The suggested knowledge base should comprises four main areas of information so identified requirements and opportunities can be retrieved in context: (1) identification of the information provider and the provenience of noted requirement; (2) main concern of the requirement, for instance: product functions, market availability, process, etc.; (3) description of opportunity; and (4) hindrances. Emphasis is made on an easy user interface for information providers-so the resistance to use a formal way to deliver ideas and market opportunities will be as small as possible-and on feedback to information providers. With refined information on requirements and opportunities, according to a suggested process, it should be easier for product management to find relevant and solid arguments for exploring market opportunities, better foundation for estimation of market risk, more market drive in product development and shorter lead times.","PeriodicalId":328103,"journal":{"name":"Innovation in Technology Management. Partners are the Asian Institute of Technology, the European Commission, Fimeccanica, Hitachi, MITI, Siemens, Sumitomo and related Universities. The increasing integration of the global economy and the growing importance of Chinese businesses within it have created an imperative to transfer and manage native western technologies in the Chinese cultural context. The experience of Sino-foreign joint ventures and multifirm consortiums has demonstrated this to be problematic. This panel will consider this problem from a number of perspectives and discuss conceptual and empirical advances.","PeriodicalId":328103,"journal":{"name":"Innovation in Technology Management.
