Different researchers incorporated various antibacterial substances, including silver nitrate (AgNO3), quarternary ammonium chloride (QAC), and titanium dioxide (TiO2) in sol-gel. However, there is limited study on the influence of pH and acid hydrolysis time (ageing) to form sol-gel. Besides, few investigations have been made on the influence of fabric structure and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) incorporation into fabrics by the sol-gel method. This study also compared the light and heavy fabrics in terms of sol-gel application and the advantages of sol-gel over other AgNPs incorporation methods. The sol-gel-AgNPs incorporated fabric samples were characterized by Ultra Violet Spectroscopy (UV-VIS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), and Energy Dispersion spectroscopy (EDS). For AgNPs synthesis in a green way, we used Calendula arvensis, a Mediterranean weed. This study found, that for sol-gel formation the minimum acid hydrolysis time was 5.30 hours, 6.30 hours, and 8.00 hours at 60 ºC, 25 ºC, and 3 ºC, respectively. After ageing, a minuscule amount of alkaline was needed for gelation. Seven different methods for incorporating AgNPs through sol-gel have been illustrated. The lower molarity of AgNO3, having a more significant portion in the sol-gel solution, had excellent antibacterial activity and wash fastness. Besides, the ex-situ method was better than the in-situ method. This study currently aims to assess the rub-fastness properties of silk and lyocell fabrics that have been dyed using Tinospora cordifolia stem extracts. This dyeing process involves the utilization of both Citrus limon and potassium aluminium sulfate as mordants. To achieve this objective, we have employed the Box-Behnken experimental research design for sample preparation. Our investigation delves into the influence of various processing factors, encompassing dye concentration, time duration, and temperature, on the rubbing fastness attributes of lyocell and silk fabrics treated with Citrus limon extract and alum mordant. The dye, sourced through an aqueous extraction method from Tinospora cordifolia stems, is subsequently employed in dyeing silk and lyocell fabrics, followed by mordanting using the meta-mordanting technique. The assessment of rubbing fastness quality is conducted using the standard test method AATCC 8 for both fabric types. Our experimental findings unveil a notable similarity in rubbing properties between lyocell and silk fabrics dyed with Citrus limon and those treated with potassium aluminium sulfate mordant. Intriguingly, fabric samples treated with Citrus limon mordants exhibit marginally enhanced rubbing (2 to 3 G to 5 G) results when juxtaposed with their counterparts treated with potassium aluminium sulfate mordant. Throughout the experimental course, it becomes evident that both temperature (35 °C, 50 °C, 65 °C) and time (40, 55 and 70 min) exert a significant influence on the wet and dry rubbing fastness characteristics of both silk and lyocell fabrics. The goal was accomplished by solvent extraction of the coriander herb (Coriandrum sativum). Ten layers of extracted solution were combined with one cotton bandage to create it using the pad-dry-cure technique. Following the same process, a second sample was created with a single layer using a ten-fold more concentrated coriander extraction solution. The K/S value measurement, SEM analysis, ATR analysis, and antimicrobial test were performed on treated materials. Implementations of the samples were made on a rabbit's wound site to demonstrate their ability to recover. The second sample's K/S value was remarkably similar to that of the first sample's tenth layer which was 0.89. The second sample's SEM picture showed that a significant amount of coriander extract had been deposited on the fibre surface. The presence of coriander extract's phytochemicals in the treated sample was confirmed by ATR analysis. Samples that had been padded with coriander extract had zones of inhibition (ZOI) against Grampositive and Gram-negative bacteria that were 14 mm and 12 mm, respectively, in terms of antibacterial activity. Healing of the wound showed good results when the bandages were removed after seven days. The wound had fully recovered. Environmentally friendly products are in high demand in the medical industry. Leather behaves as a good insulator, so it was treated with electrically conducting polypyrrole using a chemical polymerization technique to give it conductive characteristics. The electro-conductive properties are obtained by using the double in–situ oxidative polymerization of pyrrole. The electrical properties of conductive samples are studied using the Van Der Pauw method as a measuring method. The conductive leather transformation process was carried out during the 2018-2020 period, and the conductive leather samples were preserved in room conditions until the year 2023. The effect of natural ageing on the electro-conductive properties of conductive leather is the focus of this research. The results show that environmental factors influence polymer breakdown and stability, by causing an increase in electrical resistance. The changes in electrical surface resistance, as the effect of the ageing factor, vary from 39.8% to 129.9%.
