These skills and competencies can be broadly categorized into business, personal, interpersonal and management competencies. This paper reports the results of a survey conducted to highlight strengths and weaknesses of personal and interpersonal competencies of software project managers. Four attributes of personal and seven attributes of interpersonal skills have been analyzed. Top and bottom seven skills have been reported. The competencies related to people and communications management have emerged as weak areas and recommendations have been made to improve upon the weaknesses. Other important aspects discussed are overcoming shortcomings in soft skills by further training and incorporation of formal courses in project management education.","PeriodicalId":325890,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Emerging Technologies (ICET)","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129722340","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The deviation in the chemical composition of genes can be exploited to automatically diagnose colon cancer. The major challenge in the analysis of human gene based datasets is their large dimensionality. Therefore, efficient techniques are needed to select discerning genes. In this research article, we propose a novel classification technique that exploits the variations in gene expressions for classifying colon gene samples into normal and malignant classes, and quite intelligently tackles the larger dimensionality of gene based datasets. Previously individual feature selection techniques have been used for selection of discerning gene expressions, however, their performance is limited. In this research study, we propose a feed forward gene selection technique, wherein, two feature selection techniques are used one after the other. The genes selected by the first technique are fed as input to the second feature selection technique that selects genes from the given gene subset. The selected genes are then classified by using linear kernel of support vector machines (SVM). The feed forward approach of gene selection has shown improved performance. The proposed technique has been tested on three standard colon cancer datasets, and improved performance has been observed. It is observed that feed forward method of gene selection substantially reduces the size of gene based datasets, thereby reducing the computational time to a great extent. Performance of the proposed technique has also been compared with existing techniques of colon cancer diagnosis, and improved performance has been observed. Therefore, we hope that the proposed technique can be effectively used for diagnosis of colon cancer.","PeriodicalId":325890,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Emerging Technologies (ICET)","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127137634","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to the fact that RE knowledge is highly dependent on human which may result in inconsistencies, terminology conflicts and lack of understanding of requirement knowledge faced in the implementation of information based applications. To address these issues we have proposed the knowledge management model for the support of RE activities. This knowledge model assists the requirement engineers and other stakeholders to share and understand the domain and instance level knowledge which results in strengthening the RE activities through continuous requirement refinement by better knowledge management model.","PeriodicalId":325890,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Emerging Technologies (ICET)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127349002","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, this comes at significantly higher development and adaptation costs. In this paper we introduce an approach that allows automatic configuration and deployment of heterogeneous biometric systems for different business processes and related environments. The need for development and integration of scenario-specific compatible systems is replaced by repetitive scenario-specific configuration and deployment of multimodal biometric systems. We also present tools for configuration and deployment, which respectively configure and deploy multimodal biometric systems comprising of heterogeneous open source and/or commercial biometric systems required for fulfillment of domain specific authentication needs. In comparison to the prevalent practices, our approach reduces the effort required for developing and deploying reliable biometric authentication systems.","PeriodicalId":325890,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Emerging Technologies (ICET)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133091071","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents the range and doppler estimation of moving targets using pulsed doppler radars. Various techniques have been implemented to correctly estimate the range and radial velocity of the moving target. Moving Target Indicator (MTI) is widely accepted as computationally efficient method to estimate the range and Doppler of the moving targets. But the Doppler estimation using MTI in case of multiple and very fast moving targets is not an accurate method. Adaptive CFAR thresholding is another technique that improves the performance of the system at very low SNR. We employ an FFT based signal processor with CFAR detector to produce unbiased estimates of the ranges and radial velocities of the multiple moving targets. Results show significant Improvements over other implemented techniques even at very low SNRs.","PeriodicalId":325890,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Emerging Technologies (ICET)","volume":"73 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130782991","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The System on Chip (SoC) is designed to be capable of autonomous power management and operation derived from harvested power. A MEMS based piezoelectric energy harvesting cantilever is employed for this purpose. It consists of a silicon beam integrated with piezoelectric thin film (PZT) elements fabricated on parallel top. A silicon proof mass is attached to the silicon beam. The arrangement of silicon beam and proof mass enables the structure to extract energy from low frequency vibrations. The energy harvester when integrated with the proposed system can perform ECG heart rate extraction and atrial fibrillation detection while only consuming a few μWs of harvested power. This novel design of energy harvesters provides an additional benefit of Ballistocardiogram (BCG) that can help in early stages of a heart disease diagnostics.","PeriodicalId":325890,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Emerging Technologies (ICET)","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130793566","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These GRNs integrate many upstream signals to up-regulate p53 and in turn p53 either up-regulates or down-regulates many downstream signals. In this paper, we model a GRN comprising of the entities p53, Mdm2c, Mdm2n, and Akt using the qualitative and hybrid modeling frameworks. The qualitative model predicts a stable state and cycles representing the over expression and homeostasis of the entities, respectively. The model also predicts the bifurcation states, which cause divergence from the normal cyclic behaviours towards the stable state. We also compute the conditions in the form of delay constraints for the existence of cycles using hybrid model checking.","PeriodicalId":325890,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Emerging Technologies (ICET)","volume":"6 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125337883","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In value-base software (VBS), financial impacts on business are measured, and this phenomenon makes VBS different than other traditional software applications. In VBS systems, determination of valuable requirements is a crucial task and depends on multiple aspects or factors. Requirement prioritization is a part of RE and is considered as a crucial decision-making activity. Requirements prioritization is a process where requirements are arranged in an order to create a stakeholder priority list. Different requirements prioritization techniques are used by the experts in the industry to partially support the prioritization process for VBS development. Business and technical aspects play a vital role to make prioritization process effective. In existing requirements prioritization techniques, technical aspects are not applied well, and their consideration is partial only. Moreover, the business aspects are ignored which are highly vital for VBS development. There is a need to introduce multi-aspects requirements prioritization technique to support the selection of candidate requirements for VBS development. Hence, this paper focuses on a new requirements prioritization technique for VBS.","PeriodicalId":325890,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Emerging Technologies (ICET)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-01-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125893998","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
