Therefore, to assist in establishing the diagnosis, supporting examinations are needed, one of which is MRI which is non-invasive and harmless to the patient. This case report aims to describe 3 suspected cases of OSCC and the differential diagnosis of chronic traumatic ulcers using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to support the diagnosis and staging of OSCC . Case Report: The first case a 73-years-old woman, complained of canker sores, pain, difficulty chewing since 3 months. Intraoral examination revealed ulcers, irregular, positive induration, 0.5x1cm in size, on the right lateral tongue, tooth region 46. Histopathological examination was performed and the results showed invasion of malignant cells. An MRI was performed with a suspected malignant neoplasm at stage T1N0. The second case, a 45-years-old woman, complained of canker sores on the right tongue, pain and stiffness, since 2 months. Intraoral examination revealed ulcers, irregular, positive induration, size 2x5cm, on the right lateral tongue, tooth region 46-48. On MRI examination, an inhomogeneous solid mass was seen in the right corpus glossus area, accompanied by enlarged lymph nodes. The third case, a 83-years-old woman, complained of canker sores, pain when swallowing, since 3 weeks. Intraoral examination revealed an ulcer, irregular, positive induration, 2mm in size, on the right side of the tongue, in the region of 16 roots. MRI examination showed nodules measuring 9x17mm, suspected inflammatory/infectious lesions accompanied by acute tonsillitis right, less supportive of malignant neoplasms. Case of recurrent mandibular ameloblastoma in soft tissue, bleeding is one of the risks that often occurs. One way to reduce intraoperative bleeding is by embolization. Purpose this studi to report the benefits of embolization to reduce intraoperative bleeding in the action of recurrent ameloblastoma in soft tissue. Method: Female patient 32 years old came to RSUP Dr. Sardjito with complaint of lump on her left cheek, with history of post-hemimandibulectomy ameloblastoma 14 years ago. Objective examination of the asymmetrical patient's face with swelling extends to the cheek and pain when pressed, and the size is around 10x10 cm. Embolization using PVA and gelfoam material done before the excision of the tumor to reduce the risk of bleeding. The excision in this case is using lip split method, with bleeding during surgery around 250 ml. Biopsy results after excision are multicystic ameloblastoma, some are follicular types and some are plexiform types Conclusion: The use of embolization in the case of recurrent mandibular ameloblastoma in soft tissue can reduce tumor size and reduce bleeding during surgery. PENDAHULUAN Ameloblastoma merupakan tumor odontogenik yang paling umum ditemui dan mewakili kira-kira 10% dari seluruh tumor yang ditemukan di area mandibula dan maksila. Insidensinya sangat bervariasi pada kelompok ras yang berbeda. Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ameloblastoma lebih sering terjadi pada kelompok ras keturunan Afrika daripada kulit putih.1 Insidensi secara global diperkirakan sekitar 0,5 kasus per satu juta penduduk per tahun, dan sebagian besar kasus terdiagnosis pada pasien kelompok umur 30 hingga 60 tahun.2 Disebabkan sifat agresifnya secara lokal dan tingkat rekurensi yang tinggi setelah tindakan, perawatan ameloblastoma masih menjadi perdebatan hingga saat ini. Tindakan kuretase menurut laporan mempunyai angka rekurensi sebesar 50%, tindakan reseksi marginal 15%, sedang reseksi yang lebih radikal hasilnya lebih memuaskan. Tindakan reseksi memiliki tingkat rekurensi yang paling rendah, maka tindakan reseksi dapat dikatakan sebagai tindakan definitif untuk kasus ameloblastoma. Jenis reseksi mandibula yang digunakan pada ameloblastoma adalah reseksi marginal, reseksi segmental, reseksi parsial (hemimandibulektomi) dan reseksi total (total mandibulektomi) tergantung dari ukuran dan perluasan tumor.3 Rekurensi pada jaringan lunak pasca tindakan reseksi yang dilaporkan oleh Olaitan * Residen Bedah Mulut dan Maksilofasial Universitas Gadjah Mada ** Departemen Bedah Mulut dan Maksilofasial Universitas Gadjah Mada Correspondence: widodoagus06051981@gmail.com","PeriodicalId":32568,"journal":{"name":"ODONTO Dental Journal","volume":"28 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78651205","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
