The model is based on a three-phase four-wire load of equivalent per-phase PFC converters, characterized using an extended PWM switch model in order to eliminate the passive diode rectifying stage, thus extending the validity region of the proposed model to half of the switching frequency. The paper presents the complete derivation of the model, as well as a thorough evaluation in the time and frequency domains using simulations and quasi-stationary small-signal analysis. The accuracy of the position estimation can be improved by the proposed system, in which the motor parameters used for the position estimation are identified according to the operating conditions. First, the influence of the parameter error on the estimation position error is examined from the simulation and experimental results. Next, the characteristics of the sensorless drive system and the performance of parameter identification are shown. A simple two-stage RC ladder model of the capacitor is introduced and each parameter is extracted in a time domain measurement by employing a large dc discharge current with high current slew rate during switching. Based on the equivalent ladder model, the capacitance and equivalent series resistance of the capacitor are evaluated as a function of time. From the simulation results of the proposed circuit, the circuit can decrease the THD of the input current compared with the hard switching circuit without the resonant switch. In the soft switching circuit, the DC short circuit occurs more easily and frequently because of the resonant operation. The DC short circuit starts after the switch turns off, and the diode bridge input current in the switch off period is decreased. Then the diode bridge input current in the switch on period increases relatively when the DC short circuit occurs. Therefore the soft switching circuit improves the input current waveform and it becomes sinusoidal. The bandwidth of the current regulator is dependent on the switching frequency and digital delay. The limited switching frequency is inevitable to reduce the switching loss due to excessive switching frequency. Also, the digital delay is inherent problem where the Digital Signal Processor (microcontroller) and PWM are used. This paper proposes the novel current regulation strategy to enhance the performance of the current regulation by reducing the digital delay which is the sum of the execution time and PWM delay and modifying the voltage reference. The proposed strategy is robust to the parameter and reference variation. It has been pointed out that the conventional current control system with low performance design becomes unstable under high speed region. First, this paper shows that position estimation error cause unstable phenomenon, and this instability is especially emphasized under high speed region. To overcome this instability, simply modified controller with 2DOF structure is proposed in this paper. Feedback characteristic is enhanced by inter sampling technique. Simulations and experiments are carried out to compare the proposed method with a single-rate deadbeat controller for non-sinusoidal reference waveform. This phenomenon is an original demonstration in the domain of fuel cell research. Naturally, a fuel cell power source is always connected with a power electronic converter (power conditioning circuit) to boost a low dc voltage to a higher utility level. Therefore, to present fuel cell characteristics, a fuel cell power conditioning circuit (classical boost converter) is designed and implemented in the GREEN/INPL laboratory. The studied PEM fuel cell is 500 W, 40 A, around 13 V, designed and manufactured by the ZSW Company. Experimental results authenticate the fuel cell characteristics when the fuel cell power source is operated with a power electronic converter at a switching frequency of 25 kHz.
