In other words, solutions to environmental problems are urgently needed if we wish for future generations to have the same quantity and quality of resources that the current generations possess. Countries around the world, and especially EU member states, place a strong focus on environmental issues, and as one of the basic instruments in resolving them, they use environmental taxes. These taxes are intended to make polluters lower their pollution levels in order to reduce their tax burden. Among other things, they encourage polluters to invest in ecological innovations, all with the aim of reducing the tax burden and increasing the quality of the environment in the future. The aim of this paper is to establish how strong the influence of environmental taxation is on the development of ecological innovations. For this reason, correlation and regression analysis were used on a sample of EU member states. The obtained results show that the influence of these phenomena, i.e., variables, is positive and strong and that with the growth of income from environmental taxes per capita by 1%, the index of ecological innovations increases by 0.663 with a significance level of p=0.000.","PeriodicalId":32530,"journal":{"name":"Ekonomija teorija i praksa","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71219470","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

From the perspective of quantitative optimization methods, mathematical models of processes are of the utmost importance, whereby these can be generally represented in the form of linear algebraic equations or equivalent representations. Within the procedure of defining assumptions and adopting a process model, the problem formulation is conducted, whereby this refers to determining the level of problem decomposition and the level of detail in which the problem will be solved. The procedure of mathematical model determination, based on a process model, involves constructing a specific model that shows the relationships between the variables which describe the process, as well as the criterion of the solution effectiveness. The field of operations research that deals with this type of models is mathematical programming. Mathematical programming models represent a class of optimization models due to the fact that their goal is finding optimal solutions to problems. Analogously, the basic feature of today's modern economy is the penetration of mathematical methods into the essence of all economic research. In this context, the main aim of this paper is to point out the growing importance of the application of mathematical techniques, methods and models in economics as a science, as their proper application in economics can reduce many ambiguities in economic theory and practice.","PeriodicalId":32530,"journal":{"name":"Ekonomija teorija i praksa","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71219482","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Modern organizations are faced with the challenge of rethinking not only the established work patterns and employee relations, but also examining ways to transform the existing organizational cultures that are no longer sufficient to create sustainable value in the digital world. This paper presents the key elements of the digital organizational culture, the characteristics of the digital workplace and environment, as well as the specifics of the working population that belongs to the digital culture, the so-called \"digital\" or \"Z\" generation. New forms of work in modern business such as hybrid work, telecommuting and remote work are also analyzed. Considering that the traditional organizational culture was conceived in the analogue age and was not developed so that it can be easily adapted to the digital and hybrid form of work and organizations, its evolution and transformation in the direction of the needs of modern man are necessary. It can be concluded that a digital organizational culture should encourage the development of a collaborative work environment, creativity and innovation, and lead to permanent business improvement through a unique digital strategy.","PeriodicalId":32530,"journal":{"name":"Ekonomija teorija i praksa","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71219518","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The market value of most companies in most developed countries is based on intangible assets such as intellectual property, knowledge, innovation, etc. Financial analysts and investors increasingly recognize intellectual property as a key determinant of enterprise value and indicators of innovation - technical competence in the new era of economy based on knowledge. Intellectual property rights provide companies with the opportunity to differentiate their products through exclusivity, positioning in the existing markets or creating new ones, preventing competition from prevailing in a particular market and the reduction of risks and uncertainties relating to the introduction of new or improvement of existing products on the market. Intellectual property is a core of competitive advantage and business performance of the company. This understanding of intellectual property requires the efficient creation portfolio of intellectual property and the profitable use of one or more primary forms of intellectual property. By analyzing the data on the number of applications for the recognition of industrial property rights, we tried to make an assessment of the situation in the Republic of Serbia and determine the prevalence of certain forms of industrial property that have been registered in the last five years. The conclusion highlights recommendations for economic policies that promote the development and exploitation of intellectual property, contributing to the improvement of the competitiveness of companies and the entire economy.","PeriodicalId":32530,"journal":{"name":"Ekonomija teorija i praksa","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135612306","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, and Montenegro, 505 consumers were surveyed using a structured questionnaire and checklist regarding their awareness of water quality and safety issues. A total of 18.4% of the consumers were not aware of the adverse effects of antimicrobial residues in water, while 8.1% of them were buying antibiotics without a medical prescription. The awareness was significantly influenced (P<0.05) by the consumer's educational level and topographical location. The findings revealed that the majority of the respondents are consuming tap water (52.3%), followed by bottled water (43%) and water from natural sources (4.8%), respectively. The results also revealed that the sources of information regarding antibiotics' effects come mostly from medical doctors (43%) and pharmacologists (10.5%), while around 41% of all information regarding antibiotics comes from scientific literature and social media. Around 50% of the respondents have revealed that in their own country it is very easy to get the antibiotics and other drugs without a medical prescription, even if 47.5% of the respondents indicated that during the COVID-19 pandemic a doctor was available to prescribe therapy to a patient.","PeriodicalId":32530,"journal":{"name":"Ekonomija teorija i praksa","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71219413","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Attitudes, as well as the local population involvement in a certain area, largely predetermine the development of tourism. The aim of the paper is to perceive the attitudes of local population about the impact of tourism on the economic development of rural areas in the Republic of Serbia, because it has been proven in previous research that it can have a significant impact on the development of this strategically important activity. The paper also examines the influence of demographic characteristics on the attitudes of the local population about the impact of tourism on the economic development of rural areas of the Republic of Serbia. The research sample included 340 respondents, who live in rural areas of the Republic of Serbia. Descriptive statistical analysis, independent samples t-test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used to process the collected data. The research results suggest that the impact of tourism on income, the creation of new business opportunities and the increase in demand for local products are rated as the most important by the rural population of the Republic of Serbia. It was also determined that of all other demographic characteristics, education partially affects the differences that exist in the attitudes of the local population regarding the impact of tourism on the economic development of rural areas of the Republic of Serbia. The differences shown are related to the tourism impact on increasing the number of jobs, incomes, demand for local products and on the rural economy diversification. The obtained results can contribute to the defining of the tourism development strategy for the rural areas of the Republic of Serbia with the aim of improving the quality of life of the local community and diversifying the rural economy with the development of this activity.","PeriodicalId":32530,"journal":{"name":"Ekonomija teorija i praksa","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71219462","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to achieve them, it is necessary for employees to develop an adequate service orientation, which would also contribute to job satisfaction. Consequently, in addition to theoretical examination of domestic and foreign scientific literature, the aim of this work is to examine the service orientation and satisfaction of guests within the first hotel chain on the territory of the Republic of Serbia. Well-known survey guidelines were used, which have also been recognized in foreign scientific literature. Based on previous research, and according to the results of this study, three factors within the service orientation of employees were singled out, while the scale of job satisfaction was expected to be one-dimensional. As part of the conclusion, some basic guidelines have been offered, which represent the backbone of the obtained statistical results.","PeriodicalId":32530,"journal":{"name":"Ekonomija teorija i praksa","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71219530","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Rapid and extensive changes in all domains of business require companies to be flexible and ready to respond to given changes in accordance with the specificity of the concrete situation. In such conditions, companies must create their own knowledge base and have valuable and competent employees who should be properly managed. Human resources who possess adequate knowledge, who have mastered specific skills and competencies, who are dedicated to teamwork, innovation and permanent improvement form the base of intellectual capital. The aim of the paper is to enrich the previous research model in order to analyse the interconnection of intellectual capital components and business performance of Serbian companies in the ICT sector.","PeriodicalId":32530,"journal":{"name":"Ekonomija teorija i praksa","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71219642","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using panel regression analysis, the influence of various microeconomic and macroeconomic determinants on profitability, measured by the rate of return on assets, was examined. The following indicators were observed as microeconomic determinants of profitability: liquidity, financial leverage, indebtedness, asset structure indicator, total business asset turnover ratio, fixed asset turnover ratio, current asset turnover ratio, inventory turnover ratio, trade receivables turnover ratio and sales rate. Indicators of the growth rate of the gross domestic product and inflation were observed as macroeconomic determinants of profitability. Based on the results of the panel regression analysis, it was determined that the turnover ratio of total business assets, the turnover ratio of current assets and the growth rate of the gross domestic product have a positive and statistically significant influence on the profitability of the observed companies. Indebtedness, an indicator of asset structure and the turnover ratio of fixed assets have a negative and statistically significant impact on the profitability of the observed companies. It is expected that the obtained results will be useful to all interested parties in agribusiness, primarily in the context of the analysis of factors that have been determined to have a negative impact on the profitability of the observed companies.","PeriodicalId":32530,"journal":{"name":"Ekonomija teorija i praksa","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71219791","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
