The text is an attempt to conduct a comparative analysis of the position of the Czech government and the part of society that has been opposing the government's policy towards Ukraine for some time. The author presented the main consequences of the Czech government's support for Ukraine, which are related to the post-pandemic crisis. These include, above all, problems with the supply of oil, natural gas and nuclear fuel for Czech nuclear power plants. Social problems include high inflation, rising interest rates and rising prices ofbasic commodities. In the summary, synthetic conclusions were drawn that confirm the discrepancies between the government's policy and the position of that part of society.","PeriodicalId":325249,"journal":{"name":"On-line Journal Modelling the New Europe","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134219735","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The asymmetric distribution of power deters each player from pursuing its interests, and therefore power asymmetry will act as factor of systemic rupture. The links between asymmetric interdependence, conflict and mediation remained the subject of little systematic scrutiny. Discord, disputes and crises among Member States due to increased asymmetric interdependence could lead to distrust and eventual fractures in allied states. Greater attention, therefore, need to be focused on specifying the causal mechanisms and the implications of this relationship. Managing asymmetries is a core issue of the politics of interdependence and it is also a complex undertaking. It can represent the most important tool for producing the necessary equilibrium between the interests of states through adequate institutional development.","PeriodicalId":325249,"journal":{"name":"On-line Journal Modelling the New Europe","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124318803","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
{"title":"ASSESSING THE RESILIENCE OF UK’S ECONOMY AFTER THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC AND BREXIT","authors":"Pierre Rostan, Alexandra Rostan","doi":"10.24193/ojmne.2022.40.03","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.24193/ojmne.2022.40.03","url":null,"abstract":"The objective of the paper is to assess the resilience of UKs economy towards two economic shocks: the Covid-19pandemic that hit the global economy in Q4 2019, in years 2020,2021 and2022 and the Brexit following the withdrawal ofUKfrom the European Union on 31 January 2020. To assess the resilience ofUK s economy, two sets of forecasts are generated: forecasts using historical data including the pandemic and the Brexit (from Q11998 to Q4 2021) and not including the pandemic and the Brexit (from Q1 1998 to Q3 2019). The computation of the difference of their averages is an indicator of the resilience of the economy during the pandemic, the greater the difference the greater the resilience. Eurozone is used as benchmark. By subtracting the average forecasted 20222050 Eurozone quarterly GDP growth rate (annualized) obtained with the Q1 1998-Q4 2021 data, +2.93%, by the one obtained with the Q11998-Q3 2019 data, +1.59% the difference is + 1.33%, whereas with UK the difference is -2.33% [-0.24% - (-2.09%)]. Thus, Eurozone shows a greater resilience (+1.33%) than the UK (-2.33%) based on 2022-2050forecasts. In addition, the authors pointed out that the average ofthe 2022-2050 quarterly (annualized) growth rate forecasts ofthe Eurozone is expected to be +2.93% with the 1998-2021 data whereas it is expected to be only -2.09%for UK The Eurozone economy shows better prospects than the UK economy.","PeriodicalId":325249,"journal":{"name":"On-line Journal Modelling the New Europe","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117277886","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
