These different systems compose a heterogeneous, distributed system with high complexity. Thus interoperability of medical information systems is one of the main challenges of the IT society. Semantic interoperability in healthcare is especially important when all the varying types of data need to interact. A lot of works tried to solve even partially this problem of interoperability. This paper highlights the most relevant of them and presents a comparative study between new technologies and research trends to resolve heterogeneity issues of medical information systems.","PeriodicalId":324583,"journal":{"name":"The 2014 International Symposium on Networks, Computers and Communications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-06-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129099150","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Changes may lead to potential configuration errors, policy violations, inefficiencies, vulnerable states, and security threats that are “allowed in” through faulty or non-compliant configurations. The current Network Management landscape is in dire need for an automated process to prioritize and manage risks, audit configurations against internal policies or external best practices, and provide centralized reporting for monitoring and regulatory purposes in real time. Our proposed Policy Compliance and Change Detection System is implemented using two modules: The Runtime Compliance Manager (RCM), and the Common Policy Language (CPL). The CPL is used to express device and organizational policies, and was detailed. It describes the set of products in an SPL in terms of their features and the relationships among them. A feature is an externally desired service by the system. While features concern functional aspects, non-functional features must also be considered which have impact on the quality of the SPL derived systems. For this purpose, Extended feature models are proposed in the literature. In order to verify the consistency of such models, several techniques are proposed. We adopt a formal approach that represents Extended Feature Models and reason about them for proving consistency and other operations. In this paper, we show the impact of non-functional attributes on the analysis operations of feature models. In this work, we have resumed analysis operations of feature models listed in the literature. Moreover, we studied the effect of adding the non-functional attributes on these operations by giving examples. So this has enabled us to emphasize the presence of three types of constraints namely: constraint value, constraint attribute-attribute and constraint feature-attribute.","PeriodicalId":324583,"journal":{"name":"The 2014 International Symposium on Networks, Computers and Communications","volume":"64 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-06-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130947854","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nevertheless, FBMC signals suffer from the high Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR). This leads nonlinear devices such as Power Amplifiers, when used, to operate in their saturation region which may severely impair system performance. In this paper, we propose a PAPR reduction technique based on the combination of Hadamard transform with the exponential companding transform. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can offer better PAPR reduction than exponential companding and Hadamard transforms when used separately.","PeriodicalId":324583,"journal":{"name":"The 2014 International Symposium on Networks, Computers and Communications","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-06-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127107448","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, ensuring security is not trivial in WSNs because of the limited resources of the sensor nodes. This has led a lot of researchers to focus on a symmetric key cryptography which is computationally lightweight, but requires a shared key between the sensor nodes. Public key cryptography (PKC) not only solves this problem gracefully, but also provides enhanced security services such as non-repudiation and digital signatures. To take advantage of PKC, each node must have a public key of the corresponding node via an authenticated method. The most widely used way is to use digital signatures signed by a certificate authority which is a part of a public key infrastructure (PKI). Since traditional PKI requires a huge amount of computations and communications, it can be heavy burden to WSNs. In this paper, we propose our own energy efficient and scalable PKI for WSNs. This is accomplished by taking advantage of heterogeneous sensor networks and elliptic curve cryptography. Our proposed PKI is analyzed in terms of security, energy efficiency, and scalability. As you will see later, our PKI is secure, energy efficient, and scalable.","PeriodicalId":324583,"journal":{"name":"The 2014 International Symposium on Networks, Computers and Communications","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-06-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127622414","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With any technology, it presents both benefits and challenges; the virtualization is not an exception to this rule. In this context, the Cloud infrastructure can be used as a springboard for the generation of new types of attacks. The coexistence of different RATs requires a need for Common Radio Resource Management (CRRM) to support the provision of QoS and the efficient utilization of radio resources. RAT selection algorithms are part of the Joint RRM algorithms. Simply, their role is to decide which of the available RATs is most suitable to fit the user to the best connection. Guaranteeing the requirements of QoS and most efficient utilization of the available radio resources are the goals of the RAT selection algorithms. Therefore, there is a need to develop such algorithms for the heterogeneous wireless networks. Often times, scheduled and ad-hoc configuration changes lead to potential configuration errors, policy violations, inefficiencies, and vulnerable states. The current network management landscape offers a variety of configuration auditing tools to reduce risks and achieve compliance. However; they mostly operate in an offline fashion and lack real time reporting capabilities. In our previous work, we proposed an Automated Policy Compliance and Change Detection System capable of audit configurations against internal policies or external best practices and provide centralized reporting for monitoring and regulatory purposes in real time. One of the core requirements for our proposed system is a common policy language for expressing device and organizational policies. This paper defines some of the building blocks of the proposed policy language. A common policy language that will ease the enforcement of policies to all components of the network. Furthermore, the proposed common policy language will bring numerous practical advantages, such as lowering implementation overhead, as well as the possibility to use the same or at least similar tools to maintain the policies.","PeriodicalId":324583,"journal":{"name":"The 2014 International Symposium on Networks, Computers and Communications","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-06-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134291607","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, due to the unpredictability of M2M network mobility, connection and disconnection, a lot of problems can attend services availability and cause path loss or change service selection parameters, making services discovery more difficult than ever. In this paper, we present an approach based on knowledge for ensuring discovery and invocation of available services. The approach firstly leverages semantic data from user regularity of movement by extracting knowledge jointly from the mobility data and underlying geographic domain information. Then, it analyzes those data in order to prepare a pre-planned list of available services ranked not only according to their relevance but also according to their degree of availability. To illustrate the feasibility of our approach, we adopt an illustrative scenario highlighting the importance of exploiting the daily life of a mobile user for service discovery enhancements.","PeriodicalId":324583,"journal":{"name":"The 2014 International Symposium on Networks, Computers and Communications","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-06-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124649296","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
