MCPS is a low power MAC protocol operating on multichannel using carrier sensing for collision avoidance. Specifically, MCPS exploits all the non-overlapping channels provided by IEEE 802.15.4 physical layer. Basically, MCPS uses one dedicated common control channel to wakeup an intended receiver using a preamble sampling technique. However, data transmission takes place in a dedicated data channel. In fact, MCPS allows each sensor node to dynamically adjust its transmission power when sending strobed preamble or periodically generated data. Indeed, for each possible distance separating a pair of communicating nodes, MCPS adapts the appropriate transmission power and selects the appropriate data channel. By using multiple channels, MCPS allows multiple simultaneous communications reducing hence the end-to-end delay and improving the throughput. MCPS has been implemented using OMNET++ simulator under INET framework, on top of the IEEE 802.15.4 physical layer, which it was improved to support the multi channel communication. Simulation results show that MCPS can greatly improve the network performance especially in terms of throughput and end-to-end delay.","PeriodicalId":322481,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Conference on Wireless Sensors (ICWiSe)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126842724","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is because it is a concealed leak which is hard to detect and thus led to water wastage. Therefore, the home underground pipeline leakage alert system must be developed to lessen wastage of water and money. This research proposes a conceptual framework with two main stages consists of (1) monitoring water pressure inside the pipeline and (2) send alert notification if the water pressure drop below 2.7 KPa. Therefore, by having a home underground pipeline leakage alert system, immediate action can be carried out in order to reduce wastage of water and minimize the maintenance cost once leakage is detected. The novelty of this research mainly to develop a prototype application for the proposed home underground pipeline leakage alert system.","PeriodicalId":322481,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Conference on Wireless Sensors (ICWiSe)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125869259","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mosquitoes are harmful insects that carry diseases, which sometimes dangerous and can kill human lives. It is very important to be able to trap and also analyze the quantity of mosquitoes in order to determine the step that should be taken to prevent the transmission of diseases. Besides that, a mosquito trap that is implemented with remote transmittance of data could be extremely useful, as it would not only reduce the amount of diseases but also provide real-time data of the trapped mosquitoes. The current mosquitoes trap in the market does not integrate the Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities. The developed prototype trap was designed with the novel capability of sensing the nearby mosquitoes and transmitted the collected real-time data of the average number of trapped mosquitoes to the Favoriot IoT cloud platform for remote monitoring. Performance evaluation of the prototype was carried out on the university campus for 24 hours. The result shows that the prototype has successfully trapped a lot of mosquitoes and provided the real-time analytics data of the number of trapped mosquitoes.","PeriodicalId":322481,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Conference on Wireless Sensors (ICWiSe)","volume":"07 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127230516","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, when it comes to these networks, the communication protocol having the ability of minimizing the consumption of the mentioned items becomes of great importance. Among communication protocols for wireless sensor networks, leach protocol is prominent due to its specific characteristics of cluster formation. The random nature of the selection properties like cluster nodes with supervision features, adaptive nature of cluster head selection, its self-configuration property together with its non-interference when it comes to external factors play an essential role in network load sharing. This paper provides an improvement to leach protocol using a fair share of the load transfer between cluster head. For this purpose, the space containing the distributed sensors is divided into three areas according to the distance between the furthest sensor and the base station. Then the total number of cluster heads together with the number of cluster head for each area, are determined to demonstrate the achieved improvement.","PeriodicalId":322481,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Conference on Wireless Sensors (ICWiSe)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124550081","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since Global Positioning system (GPS) relies on line of sight communications with a satellite transceiver, it does not work within buildings. To overcome this challenge, IPS technology could use RF based communication and locate humans and objects indoors. The key advantage of RF based communication is its high coverage range and non-line of sight communications. Wi-Fi finger printing is an efficient RF based technique for IPS which utilizes signal strength of wireless LAN to identify different indoor locations. In this paper, we develop an experimental testbed to implement Wi-Fi fingerprinting based IPS. We analyse the performance of Wi-Fi fingerprinting based IPS for three different indoor scenarios. Results show that Wi-Fi finger printing based IPS accurately predicts user location when the multi-path fading is low and access points are closer to the user.","PeriodicalId":322481,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Conference on Wireless Sensors (ICWiSe)","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127121437","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Teenagers are missing due to many reasons which some of it are because of peer pressure, social problems and abduction. The technologies that are used are a geofencing technique that allows remote monitoring of a predefined area that is surrounded by a virtual boundary. If the targeted user exit or enter the boundary, a notification or alert will be triggered. Through this, parents can monitor their children's location and be alerted if their children are out of the assigned area. Going outside of the assigned area within the time allocated would means that might be an unwanted activity done by the child that could lead to a possible dangerous thing to happen. UAT is used to validate the proposed prototype. This mobile application is aiming to aid in preventing the teenager from went missing and to locate them using geofencing.","PeriodicalId":322481,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Conference on Wireless Sensors (ICWiSe)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131308324","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
