If the problems of source separation and dereverberation are treated separately, performance degradation may result. It is well-known that the performance of blind source separation (BSS) algorithms degrades in the presence of reverberation, unless reverberation effects are properly addressed (leading to the so-called convolutive BSS algorithms). Similarly, the performance of common dereverberation algorithms will severely degrade if an interference signal is also captured by the same microphone array. The aim of the proposed method is to jointly separate and dereverberate the two speech sources, by extending the Kalman expectation-maximization for dereverberation (KEMD) algorithm, previously proposed by the authors. A statistical model is attributed to this scenario, using the convolutive transfer function (CTF) approximation, and the expectation-maximization (EM) scheme is applied to obtain a maximum likelihood (ML) estimate of the parameters. In the expectation step, the separated clean signals are extracted from the observed data by the application of a Kalman Filter, utilizing the parameters that were estimated in the previous iteration. The maximization step updates the parameters estimation according to the Estep output. Simulation results shows that the proposed method improves both the separation of the signals and their overall quality.","PeriodicalId":319233,"journal":{"name":"2019 27th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122215823","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These vehicles are coupled in certain groups and drive simultaneously to enhance the road capacity and energy efficiency. The estimation of formation, i.e. the position of each individual vehicle w.r.t. the group, from the 5G signal is precise enough, so that the antennas deployed on multiple vehicles can be collectively considered as a distributed virtual antenna array. Non-cooperative entities, e.g. 5G incompatible vehicles, pedestrians or other road users, with radio transmissions according to a previous standard, can be precisely localized relative to the formation by distributed near-field array processing. By jointly locating the targets, the formation estimate of the 5G enabled vehicles is further improved.","PeriodicalId":319233,"journal":{"name":"2019 27th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114239645","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As previously shown, a linear least squares direction estimate can be obtained by minimizing the difference of expected and observed inter-microphone phase differences. In this work, it is shown that phase wrapping induces severe estimation errors especially at frequencies just below spatial aliasing frequencies and in low signal-to-noise ratios. A cost function to mitigate the influence of phase wrapping errors on the DOA estimation is proposed. Even though the proposed cost function is nonlinear, it is shown that one iteration of a gradient descent method with proper initialization provides a large improvement when compared to the linear least squares solution.","PeriodicalId":319233,"journal":{"name":"2019 27th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"42 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120904028","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is crucial that the input-decimation technique is presented to decrease the number of input sequences for the recursive filter so that the computation cycle of RIDFT can be shortened to meet the computing time requirement (3.6 μs). Therefore, the input-decimation RIDFT algorithm is able to carry out at least 55.5% reduction of the total computation cycles compared with the considered algorithms. Holding the advantages of input-decimation technique, the computational complexities of the real-multiplication and -addition are reduced to 41.3% and 22.2%, respectively. Finally, the physical implementation results show that the core area is 0.37× 0.37mm2 with 0.18 μm CMOS process. The power consumption is 5.16 mW with the supply voltage of 1.8 V and the operating clock of 40 MHz. The proposed design can achieve 258 million of computational efficiency per unit area (CEUA) and really outperform the previous works.","PeriodicalId":319233,"journal":{"name":"2019 27th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"224 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115650514","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Typically these MWF quantities can be estimated by considering pre-whitened correlation matrices with a dimension equal to the number of microphones in the system. By following another procedure involving a pre-whitening-transformation operation, it will be demonstrated that when a priori knowledge of the relative transfer function (RTF) vector pertaining to only the LMA is available and when the reverberant component of the signals received by the LMA is uncorrelated with that of the XM, the MWF quantities may be alternatively estimated from a 2 × 2 matrix. Simulations confirm that using such an estimate results in a similar performance to that obtained by using the higher-dimensional correlation matrix.","PeriodicalId":319233,"journal":{"name":"2019 27th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124985108","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
