Experiments have been carried out using this proposed feature set, Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC), and their score-level fusion. Classification was primarily performed using a discriminatively-trained 2nd order polynomial classifier on a subset of the MEEI database for a feature dimension of 12. The equal error rate (EER) on fusion was reduced by 3.2% than MFCC alone which was used as the baseline. The classification accuracy was analyzed for different dimensions of feature vector. Furthermore, results obtained for the2nd order classifier were compared with the results obtained from the 3rd order polynomial classifier for different feature dimensions. In addition, the effectiveness of dynamic features, in particular, delta, delta-delta, and shifted delta cepstral features have been investigated for this particular problem. It has been observed that the score-level fusion (with equal weights) of proposed feature set and state-of-the-art MFCC gave better classification performance than MFCC alone for various evaluation factors considered in this paper.","PeriodicalId":319233,"journal":{"name":"2019 27th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129679015","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Envelope detection, inherently robust to this impairment, is hence considered for the design of sub-THz systems. This paper proposes an algebraic framework for envelope modulation. In the first place, we introduce a Hilbert space to represent waveforms with non-negative real values. This space is defined by transport of structure of the usual signal-space L2. So, existing schemes developed for real-valued signals can be exploited upon envelope modulation. In the second place, it is shown that the proposed framework provides powerful tools to design new envelope modulation schemes. To do so, we present the transmission of an Inphase Quadrature signal upon an envelope modulation to prevent the impact of phase noise on communication performance. We also demonstrate that constraints on embedded analog-to-digital converters can be relaxed with the use of orthogonal non-negative waveforms.","PeriodicalId":319233,"journal":{"name":"2019 27th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129696240","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed architecture relies on the properties of the adaptive combination of filters which exploits the capabilities of different constituents, thus adaptively providing at least the behavior of the best performing filter. The nonlinear functions involved in the adaptation process are based on spline function interpolation and their shapes can be modified during learning using gradient-based techniques. In addition, we derive a simple form of the adaptation algorithm and present some experimental results that demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":319233,"journal":{"name":"2019 27th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126843653","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But, to the best of our knowledge, none is specifically adapted to Level-Crossing Analog-to-Digital Converters (LC-ADC). We propose in this article a reconstruction algorithm that takes advantage of the intrinsic quantification of the LC-ADC samples amplitudes to dramatically minimize the stability requirements of the analog levels and improve the converter global accuracy and resolution. We show in particular that spectral analysis is possible even if the levels amplitudes are unknown: they can be blindly estimated, jointly with the signal spectrum, up to harmless indeterminations of scale and offset. Simulations on synthetic signals demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms the existing techniques.","PeriodicalId":319233,"journal":{"name":"2019 27th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126974337","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we present an investigation into polynomial kernels for the SVM. We show that the models learned by these machines are constructed from terms related to the statistical moments of the support vectors. This allows us to deepen our understanding of the internal workings of these models and, for example, gauge the importance of combinations of features. We also discuss how the SVM with a quadratic kernel is related to the likelihood-ratio test for normally distributed populations.","PeriodicalId":319233,"journal":{"name":"2019 27th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123374423","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper proposes a graph filter optimization method with an exact control of the ripple on the passband and the stopband of the filter. It has been proven that the parameters of the LMS filter converge to the optimum (Wiener) solution. Unfortunately, this is only possible if the adaptation steps are infinitely small. Small steps, however, result in slow convergence. The challenge is to vary the step size such that they are large, when the LMS filter coefficients are far from their optimal values and to lower the step size, when the adaptive system is approaching the optimum. State-of-the-art approaches to variable-step-size determination take estimates of the measurement noise into account for optimal performance. This paper proposes a new technique for the estimation of the measurement-noise variance, which also can deal with sudden changes of the unknown system. Based on investigations with a broad range of experimental conditions in terms of test signals and different measurement-noise levels, it is shown that the proposed estimation technique is robust to changes of the unknown system and outperforms other methods.","PeriodicalId":319233,"journal":{"name":"2019 27th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"96 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121632034","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Three different spatial domain algorithms: derivative approach, energy detector and baseline method are compared with three different peak detection algorithms based on machine learning: linear and nonlinear support vector machines and artificial neural networks. Performance of the peak detection algorithms are tested on both synthetic and real data. Experimental results indicate superiority of machine learning algorithms over the other three algorithms which are widely used in practice. Due to Gaussianity assumption in the signal model, a linear support vector machine is found to be as good as other machine learning schemes.","PeriodicalId":319233,"journal":{"name":"2019 27th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114026221","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main idea is to model the relationships within each dimension (time, space, feature space) with different graphs and to merge these structures. A new technique based on tensor formalism is provided, which aims to identify the frequency support of the graph signal in order to preserve its content after subsampling. Results are provided on real EEG data for data interpolation and reconstruction.","PeriodicalId":319233,"journal":{"name":"2019 27th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114702963","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
