It is found that building a model checker directly for a Z specification will take considerable effort and time due to an abstraction of the language. Translating a specification input on the Z language into a specification with language that an existing model checker tool accepts is an alternative method. Researchers at the University of Sheffield implemented a translation tool, which they called Z2SAL that took a Z specification and translated it into the input for Symbolic Analysis Laboratory (SAL), which is a framework for combining different tools for abstraction, program analysis, theorem proving and model checking. This paper discusses support for model checking Z specifications, in which the capability of Z2SAL is extended. This support includes a translation of a generic constant and a schema calculus. Instead of translating these aspects of the Z language into the SAL language as Z2SAL does, a Z specification containing these two notations will be pre-processed, in which a generic constant definition will be redefined to an equivalent axiomatic definition and a schema calculus definition will be expanded to a new schema definition. As a result, a redefined or expanded Z specification is generated, in which case a redefinition or an expansion can be performed, otherwise the Z specification input is returned. This paper discusses these supports.","PeriodicalId":319129,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 17th International Conference on Information Reuse and Integration (IRI)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133179523","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, due to the possible content of sensitive information, this data must be anonymized, which can reduce its usefulness for secondary uses. One of the most used techniques to anonymize data is generalization. However, its effectiveness can be hampered by the Value Generalization Hierarchies (VGHs) used to dictate the anonymization of data, as poorly-specified VGHs can reduce the usefulness of the resulting data. To tackle this problem, we propose a metric for evaluating the quality of textual VGHs used in anonymization. Our evaluation approach considers the semantic properties of VGHs and exploits information from the input datasets to predict with higher accuracy (compared to existing approaches) the potential effectiveness of VGHs for anonymizing data. As a consequence, the utility of the resulting datasets is improved without sacrificing the privacy goal. We also introduce a novel rating scale to classify the quality of the VGHs into categories to facilitate the interpretation of our quality metric for practitioners.","PeriodicalId":319129,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 17th International Conference on Information Reuse and Integration (IRI)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125639063","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

PNs can be used to show the logic behind a system or to create a visual representation of the steps a system will take. Although this alone can be useful, there are some areas in which normal PNs fail, in these cases introducing time into the nets can open the modeling possibilities. Time can be used to literally represent the duration of an event or can be used to implement probability into a system. In this paper, Time Petri nets (TPNs) are used to model soccer playing robots whose movements are based on the proposed algorithm, which serves to guide the robots to the safest path to the goal. After modeling and testing, it was shown that the proposed algorithm, Optimal Path for Ball Movement, outperformed both random prioritization and the Rapidly-exploring Random Tree algorithm by about 43% and 37%, respectively.","PeriodicalId":319129,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 17th International Conference on Information Reuse and Integration (IRI)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116180569","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The process of environment mapping requires standby time and processing time. The robot remains stationary and surveys the surroundings, then constructs an environmental representation and determines the appropriate path of travel. This process diminishes the fluidity of robot locomotion, resulting in limited applications. Through the application of fuzzy Petri nets (FPNs) with embedded memory module, an enhanced mapping method was proposed to overcome such a limitation. With the storage and reuse of key information, such as past calculations and decisions made by the robot, time spent in survey and analysis is reduced. Since this approach requires less processing time, the proposed method can be executed while the robot is in motion, continuously looping at frequent intervals. The proposed method brings the benefits of greater movement fluidity while also introducing the ability to navigate in a dynamic environment with less erratic decision making. The modeling and simulation results demonstrated an 8% increase in efficiency.","PeriodicalId":319129,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 17th International Conference on Information Reuse and Integration (IRI)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115496697","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we outline the design of a system modeling language called DS2, and point out how its primitives are well matched with concerns that naturally arise during distributed system design. We present an operational semantics for DS2 as well as results from an ongoing Scala-based implementation slated to support a variety of state-space exploration techniques. The driving goals of this project are to: (1) provide a prototyping framework within which complex distributed system protocols can be stated and modeled without breaking the primitives down to low level ones, and (2) drive the development of interesting and distributed system-relevant property checking methods (e.g., linearizability).","PeriodicalId":319129,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 17th International Conference on Information Reuse and Integration (IRI)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130763129","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

CPSs sometimes include wireless networks that incur delay and errors. In this paper, we have developed an integrated design approach to combine control system and fault-tolerant wireless network design for an advanced, high-temperature, small, modular nuclear reactor (SMR). Our design approach is composed of two sub-problems: extracting network requirements from control systems and designing networks to meet such requirements. Focused on SMRs, our contributions are as follows: (1) we show how to derive a two-dimensional network performance requirement region in terms of network delay and error, (2) we propose a computation model to determine the network topology to meet network requirements with minimum energy consumption, (3) we conduct a case study with 12-hop and up to 78 nodes wireless sensor network to control a heat exchanger system in an SMR. The average difference between computation model results and simulation results is 4.1%, which confirms our computation model is accurate enough for such systems.","PeriodicalId":319129,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 17th International Conference on Information Reuse and Integration (IRI)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129101079","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, many previous works have used bagging only with a single arbitrary number of iterations. In this study, we raise the question of what is the impact of altering the number of iterations/ensembles on the classification performance of bagging classifiers? To answer this question, we conducted an empirical study using four different choices of number of iterations (10, 20, 50, and 100) within the bagging algorithm, across 15 different imbalanced bioinformatics datasets. Our results indicate that the choice of 50 iterations performs slightly better than all others without any exception, but the difference in performance is statistically insignificant. Thus, we recommend bagging with 10 iterations because, it achieves quality classification results, additional iterations do not significantly improve performance, and, a smaller number of iterations would be computationally less costly. The unique contribution of this work is to examine the effects of the number of iterations on the classification performance of bagging classifiers in the context of imbalanced datasets in the bioinformatics field.","PeriodicalId":319129,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE 17th International Conference on Information Reuse and Integration (IRI)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116576735","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
