This results in limited understanding of the work experiences of older workers – especially women. In the few studies that have focused on older women, the women who were interviewed disclosed consistent pressure to look young as well as feeling overlooked at work resulting in perceptions of diminished opportunities. This article concludes with recommendations for practice.","PeriodicalId":318494,"journal":{"name":"MOJ Gerontology & Geriatrics","volume":"39 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141815080","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Pandemic made us see that even doctors preferred to put all resources at the service of young people, and abandon the elderly. On the other hand, abuse towards the elderly is also reflected in the difficulties that may be encountered when having to carry out management using new technologies or some bureaucratic activity that requires the use of a computer or smartphone. Add to this the unwanted loneliness, contempt and lack of respect of a society that opts for the new and discards the old and used.","PeriodicalId":318494,"journal":{"name":"MOJ Gerontology & Geriatrics","volume":" 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141832325","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this reason, the new negative pressure therapy has been chosen, which involves an increase in granulation tissue, leading to complete healing in a minimum time, highlighting the few complications derived from said therapy. Objective: To demonstrate the effectiveness of negative pressure therapy in patients with diabetic foot. Methodology: A narrative review was carried out between December 2022 and November 2023 in the databases of Pubmed, Dialnet, Google Scholar, WOS, Scopus and Cochrane, following a search string, which combines keywords derived from the thesauri “Health Sciences Descriptors” (DeCS) and “Medical Subject Headings” (MeSH), being combined with the Boolean operators “NOT”, “OR” and “AND”. Results: Negative pressure therapy offers a number of significant benefits for adult patients with diabetic foot, improving wound healing, reducing the risk of serious complications and contributing to a better quality of life. It is important to highlight that the implementation of this therapy must be guided by health professionals and adapted to the specific needs of each patient. Conclusion: After comparing the different selected articles, it was determined that the application of negative pressure therapy in diabetic foot ulcers is beneficial in relation to the reduction in healing time compared to conventional wound healing dressings. The associated complications being minimal. Furthermore, treatment with this therapy turns out to be cost-effective by reducing patients' hospital stays, leading to an increase in quality of life.","PeriodicalId":318494,"journal":{"name":"MOJ Gerontology & Geriatrics","volume":"72 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139855484","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When presenting asymptomatically, it leads to diagnosis in terminal stages, with high treatment costs and loss of quality of life in the elderly; however, an adequate educational intervention can reduce the incidence in cases of chronic kidney disease. In some cases, the disease is due to a lack of knowledge about prevention measures, which is why the educational intervention arises: renal health for all, which is developed in the primary care clinic of a town in Michoacán, Mexico. Older adults come with their families once a week to receive training, being of vital importance to work together with their primary caregivers and thus strengthen the intervention when it is delivered to other age groups. Among the activities carried out, the active participation of older adults stands out by sharing their ideas, experiences and work done with other people, which keeps them active, happy and makes them feel important and useful. In a first evaluation, it was possible to identify that the intervention generated a significant impact on the change of behavior of healthy lifestyles, 34 older adults changed the consumption of sweet drinks for the consumption of simple water, 35 modified their diet, and they attend the physical activity session without missing. At the moment, it has been possible to verify the change in attitude, the increase in self-esteem, and the motivation to adopt nephroprotective measures.","PeriodicalId":318494,"journal":{"name":"MOJ Gerontology & Geriatrics","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116406071","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a gradual and adaptive process of a biological, psychological and social type, produced as a consequence of genetically programmed changes, history, lifestyles, environment and social conditions in which the elderly live. On the other hand, old age is a stage of life whose beginning is established by society, which is why the United Nations Organization agreed that, in developing countries, people aged 60 and over are classified as older adults. Within the present work, it is intended to obtain a diagnosis on the prevalence of falls in which the current situation of patients in a permanent geriatric stay located in Irapuato, Guanajuato is shown. This is considered important because during aging structural and functional changes occur in different organs and systems. For this reason, as health professionals, we must know the normal morphological and functional changes of physiological aging, and thus guide the elderly to adapt and improve their lifestyle.","PeriodicalId":318494,"journal":{"name":"MOJ Gerontology & Geriatrics","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114999404","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Choir singing has always brought benefits, but active choral singing, including movement and body expression, as well as instrumental practice, can increase a healthy physical and mental life. Music for life is a project that takes place in an association of pensioners and retirees in a small town, in Spain. Participants go once a week to sing, actively learn music, but what they really do is work the laterality of the cerebral hemispheres, boost memory, improve self-esteem, and connect with people of similar characteristics and situations. One of the most important parts of the project is public auditions in homes for the elderly or similar, as part of musical learning, self-esteem and social responsibility. The idea of being able to show other people their musical work, and offer a few hours of joy to older people, makes them feel important and necessary. The research part consists of checking whether these connected activities (singing, corporal expression and memorization), favor the prevention of dementias such as Alzheimer’s; improve psychomotor skills and the quality of life of people. At the moment, we have only been able to verify the increase in self-esteem, and the implication involved in participating in a research project.","PeriodicalId":318494,"journal":{"name":"MOJ Gerontology & Geriatrics","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124104664","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A brief review was made to find out if the universities had specific programs to serve the elderly with SEN who access the university. In addition, a didactic proposal is proposed, based on musical education, to attend to SEN, inclusion and attention to diversity in the elderly. On the other hand, the need for more rigorous musical training and education for future teachers is highlighted. In conclusion, it is recognized that there are no specific programs for SEN related to older people who access university. On the other hand, the training of future teachers regarding musical education and SEN is valued.","PeriodicalId":318494,"journal":{"name":"MOJ Gerontology & Geriatrics","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114899276","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Method: This is a bibliographical review article carried out through an electronic search in two online databases: Scientific Electronic Library Online (Sistema Scielo) and Lilacs. For this, the following Health Sciences Descriptors were used (DeCS): Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis AND HIV AND Health of the Elderly AND Nursing. Results and Discussion: In these bases, 10 articles were found and none responded to the objectives. The analysis showed that it is necessary for the elderly to know about pre-exposure prophylaxis to HIV, as this age group is also part of a key population vulnerable to infection. The analysis showed that in the next 20 years, Brazil will be the sixth largest population of elderly people in the world, it is important to emphasize that with the passage of time the number of people infected by the AIDS virus has only been increasing and in this it has shown a new facet of the epidemic in the age group. age 59 years of age or older. Conclusion: It was observed that there is a need to create preventive and normative resources regarding the use of PreP in the elderly, as well as therapy, adherence, availability and purpose of the medication, in order to involve these individuals in the knowledge process.","PeriodicalId":318494,"journal":{"name":"MOJ Gerontology & Geriatrics","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131394260","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
