The main problem concerning perimeter protection is edge or boundary detection. In this paper, two boundary detection algorithms have been proposed that use convex hull techniques to find the boundary of a static and dynamic wireless sensor network (WSN). Whenever a boundary node on a static WSN has to be replaced, our method chooses a new neighbor such that the overall area covered by the boundary is maximized. In the dynamic case, we demonstrate that the boundary of a dynamic WSN can be maintained in O(lig2n) time, where n is the number of sensor nodes in the network, maximizing the coverage area of the network at all times.","PeriodicalId":318478,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE Calcutta Conference (CALCON)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128091173","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The 3DBF can steer the main-lobe towards the desired direction and place null towards the undesired directions. The incorporation of the SLL suppression technique makes 3DBF algorithm less vulnerable to unforeseen and undesired signals in comparison with conventional 3DBF strategies having significant SLL. Accordingly, the proposed method is more suitable for 5G applications in terms of user tracking. In this work, a conventional beamforming strategy is employed firstly to evaluate the appropriate antenna weights for directing the main lobe towards the Desired Signal (DS) and nulls in the direction of the Undesired Signals (UDSs) followed by an algorithm that invokes SLL suppression. The proposed SLL suppression procedure exploits independent and individual low-pass filter based Kaiser windowing technique in the vertical and horizontal axes of the Rx antenna for minimizing the vertical and horizontal side lobes of the Radiation Pattern (RP) separately. This SLL suppression technique re-evaluates the antenna weights in such a manner that it can jointly form the desired 3D beam with suppressed SLL without changing the direction of the main beam. The elevation, azimuth, and 3D RPs have been generated to test the performance of the proposed algorithm in terms of SLL reduction and robustness. Approximately 72% improvement has been observed in the first SLL of the RP. This 3DBF algorithm based on SLL reduction methodology is much faster than any evolutionary optimization algorithm which needs an iterative technique for SLL suppression.","PeriodicalId":318478,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE Calcutta Conference (CALCON)","volume":"118 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134027823","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is less harmful compared to RF wave and it fulfils both illumination and data transmission at a time being used for indoors. OWC experiences many schemes starting from Amplitude modulation to Sub Carrier Index Modulation Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (SIM-OFDM) technique and improvements are still going on for achieving more secured communication system with higher data rate (in Gigabit Class). Here, an audio transmission system in OWC using Pulse Density Modulation (PDM) has been demonstrated. Experiments have been performed using 18W Warm White LED (Correlated Color temperature 2800K) as downlink maintaining the proper light level in the working plane and 850 nm IR LED as uplink for bidirectional communication. The numerical investigation depicts that a wide bandwidth ranging from 2.2 GHz–10 GHz is achieved using the intended layout. Owning a large impedance bandwidth, the antenna covers both, 2.4 GHz wireless local area network (WLAN) as well as 3.1-10 GHz ultra-wideband (UWB) spectrum. The proposed antenna exploits fractal star shaped monopoles for providing wideband isolation as well as impedance matching. High isolation (>15 dB) in the proposed diversity system is attained by using two rectangular defects in the shared ground plane and an inverted T-shaped stub. A high isolation of -29.4 dB for the 2.4 GHz (WLAN) band and >15 dB for the UWB band are attained respectively. The numerical analysis of the diversity parameters shows that the envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) is well below the practical verge of 0.5. The maximum realized gain of the proposed antenna is found to be 2.86 dBi. The consistency among distinct numerical outcomes strengthens the candidature of the proposed antenna for multifunction wideband diversity applications.","PeriodicalId":318478,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE Calcutta Conference (CALCON)","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134575525","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hence, an additional low-pass filter is required at the output side of the inverter in order to eliminate the harmonics and to supply sinusoidal fundamental voltage only to the load. The filters are often bulky to mitigate the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of the inverter voltage waveform to acceptable limits. Alternatively, special Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) techniques are used to obtain low voltage harmonics at the cost of low fundamental output voltage and high switching loss. This paper applies the technique of Natural Compensation of Harmonic voltages through active compensation to reduce the filter requirement of a three phase inverter and increase its DC bus utilization. The DC bus voltage of the compensator is inherently lower than the input DC bus due to the stepped load waveform used, permitting use of low voltage, higher switching frequency devices with lower switching loss. Since the main inverter is switched at low frequency, the total system loss is at moderate value.","PeriodicalId":318478,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE Calcutta Conference (CALCON)","volume":"90 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133104700","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed method applies the concept of mean filter and uses only the terminal pixels within a window along a specific axis to predict the value of the central noisy pixel. The ABMF considers a fixed window size of 3×3. If the central pixel of the window is noisy, it tries to identify a straight line (referred to as axis) within the window passing through the central pixel such that the pixels on either side of the line are non-noisy. If such an axis is found, the noisy pixel is replaced by the mean of the pixels on either end of the axis. However, if such a line does not exist, the noisy pixel is replaced by the mean of all the non-noisy pixels within the window. Experimental results over a set of 34 images exhibit that the proposed ABMF outperforms the existing algorithms by 58% and 29% in terms of mean SSIM and mean PSNR respectively for noise-intensities ranging from 10%-90%.","PeriodicalId":318478,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE Calcutta Conference (CALCON)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131874319","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, a methodology for estimation of alternator rotor angle by using empirical modelled reactance, voltage and current phasors measured from phasor measurement units (PMUs) is presented. The empirical model for computation of synchronous reactance of slack and generator bus is proposed which is free from machine parameters. The effectiveness of proposed rotor angle approach is validated on IEEE 9-bus test system under various dynamic scenarios such as alternator bus and remote line to ground (LG) faults. The simulation results reveal that the proposed rotor angle estimation methodology has effectively computed the rotor angle of all interconnected alternator during various dynamic events. Thus, the proposed alternator rotor angle approach based on synchronized PMU measurements and empirical reactance can suite for online monitoring of rotor angle stability in complex and highly dynamic modern power system.","PeriodicalId":318478,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE Calcutta Conference (CALCON)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117152181","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this article, we introduce an efficient channel allocation scheme for different scalable video applications, especially for downlink video streaming, based on the content-driven proportionate channel allocation strategy which considers fairness and application requirements simultaneously. The aim of this channel allocation strategy is to improve the overall satisfaction of the SUs especially for rapid motion (RM) type of video users. RM type generally experiences poor network performance due to the highest motion content and in this article, we have addressed this issue. The CRN base station (CRNBS) gather all content information of the SU’s and perform channel allocation efficiently. In the simulation, we demonstrate that the proposed scheme performs better than the conventional throughput-based rate allocation strategy with proportional fairness in terms of RM user satisfaction.","PeriodicalId":318478,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE Calcutta Conference (CALCON)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124965643","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For having a gross view of crime rates, online newspapers can be used as a useful resource for such tasks. Since all types of crimes are not reported to the police department and the reported crime data may not be easily accessible by the common people, the crime location information can be extracted from online local newspapers and/or national newspapers and the extracted information can be used for counting crime incidents for a location or an area. But, processing the huge collection of newspapers and extracting crime locations from them is not a trivial task. This task can be roughly divided into two main parts, the first part is to filter the crime news articles from the automatically downloaded news collection and the second part is the crime location extraction from each news article. Our proposed system does this task automatically through mining the collection of newspapers written in the Bengali language. To get the picture of high crime prone locations in a state, the proposed system visualizes the crime count per district in a state. Our system is tested on data related to the state of West Bengal. To generate the location wise crime histogram, this system can be used as a tool.","PeriodicalId":318478,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE Calcutta Conference (CALCON)","volume":"203 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129703452","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Large power systems have multiple transmission lines and crucial parameters on each line to be monitored in real-time which is very complicated, considering the number of parameters to be monitored on each line. After any contingency the power system could transit from normal state to the emergency state within a matter of seconds. These transitions of states could be unprecedented or unexpected at times, and in such a scenario, deciding which lines should be highly ranked in the new steady state, for operator decisions, can be very complicated at times. In this paper, extensive load flow studies have been studied, considering N-1 contingencies. Then for each scenario the power flow on the lines remaining in service have been recorded. Using these recorded data, the power system operation has been classified in the 5 different states, namely, normal, alert, emergency, extreme emergency and restorative states. These data are then used to train a multi-dimensional feed-forward neural network to identify the states in real-time in Software-InLoop (SIL). This paper proposes a multi-dimensional neural network with as many numbers of input nodes as the number of lines and 5 output nodes for the 5 state classifications. This type of ANN could help the Power System Engineer (PSE) to take crucial decisions in the event of severe contingencies in the power network.","PeriodicalId":318478,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE Calcutta Conference (CALCON)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130170340","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
