It can be difficult to understand and recognise this group of students, and because of that it can be challenging to support them in classrooms and schools. Twiceexceptional students are vulnerable to social and emotional difficulties and under-achievement, and due to their unique combinations of giftedness and challenges they need careful support. There are some clear recommendations and strategies for how to approach meeting the complex needs of this group of students that emerge from current theory and practice.","PeriodicalId":316316,"journal":{"name":"Handbook for Counselors Serving Students With Gifts & Talents","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124616750","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They play the game and avert exposure. The rules are “never reveal anything that will make readers stand out, \" “act like everybody else, \" and “do not draw attention to themself.” School counselors must deal with the increasing mental health concerns of all students, including the gifted. Students experienced trauma during the COVID-19 pandemic and witnessed police brutality that reignited the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020 that will affect them for decades. A cross-cultural study of the social experience of gifted students confirmed the universality of Coleman’s Stigma of Giftedness Paradigm. Gifted children and adolescents were interviewed in the United Kingdom, South Korea, Ireland, France, and culturally diverse schools in the United States. Child-centered, rather than achievement-oriented, the construct of asynchrony has a strong theoretical foundation, deeply rooted in the field of psychology. © 2021 by Taylor & Francis Group.","PeriodicalId":316316,"journal":{"name":"Handbook for Counselors Serving Students With Gifts & Talents","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-09-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130980466","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
