It can be specified that this work was written in the direction of Ahl as-Sunna, that is Maturidiyya or Ash’ariyya. It can be distinguished mainly by some of the characteristics that exist between the Maturidiyya and the Ash’ariyya. Although some sources describe these differences in different ways, from three to sixty, most researchers know that they are word-related differences. More than ten separate papers were also written explaining the differences. The article notes that the development of Kalam during the Timurid period was relatively stable and without abrupt changes and that 23 scholars of Mawarannahr were engaged in Kalam. They wrote works on Kalam, which consisted mainly of commentaries. It was a characteristic feature of this period.","PeriodicalId":315975,"journal":{"name":"The Maturidiyya","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121963429","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The information and examples presented in the paper are important for modern studies of the Quran. Because, at the present this area is practically not found in the contemporary literature on the sciences of the Qur’an. The article provides information about the history of the region «wujuh and nazair», its development, scholars who worked in this field, the features and significance of this area, works related to this area, and research being conducted today. It also reveals the essence of research in the field of «wujuh and nazair», some examples from works related to this area, the importance of «wujuh and nazair», and samples that can be called «wujuh». In addition, a special place is given to the analysis of the terms «nazair» and «wujuh». For example, commentators draw attention pointing out the use of a single word in the Qur’an in the plural when mentioning a useful natural phenomenon that benefits people and animals, and the use of singular form when referring to destructive and deadly phenomenon, explaining harmful circumstances. It has been shown that if some words are used in the plural, then they have the meaning of blessing, while in singular, it means destructing and depressing the house and the crop. In «Tahsil Nazair al-Quran» by Hakim Tirmidhi, the sides related to the area of «wujuh and nazair» were also briefly highlighted. The article extensively uses the heritage of classical thinkers such as Muqatil ibn Sulaiman, Jalaluddin Suyuti, Badruddin Zarkashi, Khalil Ahmad Farahidi, Yahya Nawawi. Southeast Asia, especially Indonesia, did not remain aloof from these processes. The penetration and spread of Islam in the Indonesian archipelago dates back to the 9th-16th centuries. We can say that merchants, tourists, mystics, military men, and scientists also contributed to these historical processes. Indonesia is the most populous Muslim country in Southeast Asia. Indigenous peoples in this area practiced mainly Buddhism, Hinduism, Confucianism, and numerous other local polytheistic religions before Islam. The entry of Islam into the Indonesian archipelago and its transformation into one of the region’s major religions continued for several years. After the arrival of Islam in the region, the locals warmly welcomed the religion, seeing the culture and attitudes of Muslims towards other religions. Scholars have put forward several theories regarding the entry of Islam into the region. The article discusses in detail these theories and the views of their supporters. The most common of these theories is that Islam came to Indonesia through India, Arab traders, and China. Each of the above theories about the entry of Islam into the archipelago has its own evidence and historical sources. These views are also explored in the article. Scholars from Samarkand also played an important role in the spread of Islam in Indonesia. The article also examines the activities of these scholars.","PeriodicalId":315975,"journal":{"name":"The Maturidiyya","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132749499","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It tells about the scholar’s life, his scientific travels, fields of activity, his writings, and his respect in the eyes of scientists. The content, structure, narrations, modern editions of “at-Tabaqat al-Kubra” and, most importantly, its role in the study of Islamic history are also presented. “at-Tabaqat al-Kubra” is one of the oldest works written in its direction and has reached us. In the first two volumes of this book, Ibn Sa’d wrote a biography of the companions, then the followers, and then the scholars who lived up to his time, after covering the biographies of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Describing the biographies of thousands of individuals, this book spread widely in the Islamic world and became the most important and widely used source in Islamic history. Today, several modern research is being carried out on the work, which has been published in modern editions. After all, “Tabaqat” objectively covers the first three centuries of Islamic history, narrates the personalities of this period, important historical events, social life, and scientific environment uniquely. There are many aspects of Ibn Sa’d and “at-Tabaqat al-Kubra” that still need to be studied. The article identifies the book based on written sources. The article answers the doubts of orientalists A.J. Wensinck, Givony Joseph, Joseph Schacht, Brannon M. Wheeler, Ulrich Rudolph, and others that al-Fiqh al-Akbar was written after the time of Abu Hanifa. Muslim scholars such as Shibli Nu’mani and Mufti Azizurrahman have also confirmed these doubts. The article also proves that it is a mistake to think that Muhammad ibn Yusuf al-Bukhari, the second Abu Hanifa, is the real author of al-Fiqh al-Akbar. The article also mentions a series (sanad) of narrations (rivayah) from al-Fiqh al-Akbar to the author. In general, the article reveals based on evidence that the issues discussed in the science of kalam (theology) and the aqeedah during the time of Abu Hanifa were included in al-Fiqh al-Akbar, and that the doubts in this regard were unfounded. It has been clarified that al-Fiqh al-Akbar is indeed a work by Abu Hanifa.","PeriodicalId":315975,"journal":{"name":"The Maturidiyya","volume":"126 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128025735","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
