It provides also an efficient and accurate access to medical data for health professionals. In this paper, first we investigate the security of Zhao's protocol, which has been recently proposed as a secure RFID authentication protocol for healthcare environments. We show that the proposed enhancements, to overcome the key compromise problem in Liao and Hsiao protocol, remains vulnerable to tracking attack. Therefore, with the aim of increasing patient safety, we propose a new authentication scheme based on elliptic curve digital signature algorithm (ECDSA) combined with a recursive hash function. The security analysis shows that the suggested scheme could solve security weaknesses of Zhao's protocol and some previously proposed protocols. In addition, the proposed scheme is more efficient in terms of communication and computational cost compared to that of the related protocols.","PeriodicalId":313846,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Networks, Computers and Communications (ISNCC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122613434","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The OFDM modulation divides the total frequency band into several narrow band sub-channels, so that the system gets more immune to extremely hostile multipath channels. The conventional OFDM uses Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) to provide orthogonality between sub-channels, but Wavelet Packet Transform (WPT) is also proposed by different authors as an alternative orthogonalization method in recent years. In this paper, after comparing structures and features of FFT-OFDM and WPT-OFDM, we present their BER performance simulated by MATLAB over 6 tap Rural Area (RA6) channel which is defined by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) for Long Term Evolution transmission systems in 3GPP standard. In order to achieve deeper insight into WPT-OFDM performance, Haar, Daubechies5, Symlet5 and Coiflet4 are used as wavelet families in the simulations. At the receiver side, we use frequency domain equalizer (FEQ) for FFT-OFDM and overlap FEQ equalizer for WPT-OFDM to mitigate the fading effects of multipath channel on the received signals. Simulation results show that the performance of OFDM will be improved by using WPT, and since it does not need to use (Cyclic Prefix) CP in WPT-OFDM scheme, this method is more efficient from power and bandwidth points of view with respect to the commonly used FFT-OFDM.","PeriodicalId":313846,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Networks, Computers and Communications (ISNCC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124923534","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Multicarrier NOMA (MC-NOMA) is a kind of hybrid NOMA, where, Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) may be employed to achieve higher capacity. However, MC-NOMA scheme based on OFDMA face the problem of higher Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR). The high PAPR reduces both energy and spectral efficiency of the MC-NOMA scheme. Therefore, in this paper, a new Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filtering based Zadoff-Chu Matrix Transform (ZCMT) precoded uplink MC-NOMA scheme is presented to reduce higher PAPR. MATLAB® simulations demonstrate that, the proposed filter based ZCMT precoded uplink MC-NOMA scheme outperform the ZCMT precoded uplink MC-NOMA schemes without filtering, uplink Single Carrier NOMA (SC-NOMA) schemes and conventional uplink MC-NOMA schemes available in the literature.","PeriodicalId":313846,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Networks, Computers and Communications (ISNCC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124957847","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The near-field millimeter-wave dual differential probe detection system is used to detect corrosion precursor pittings and cracks. To enhance the detection of these pittings and cracks from the images, a WL-SAR technique that uses the Green's function for layered structures and a Weiner Filter-based deconvolution is applied. The effects of a horizontal and vertical direction of the scans on the resulting images were also studied. This system is capable of detecting cracks of less than 1mm and pittings of 0.5mm. Our results show the feasibility of employing a millimeter-wave system in the field of aviation maintenance and checks.","PeriodicalId":313846,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Networks, Computers and Communications (ISNCC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128560123","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The impulse noises originating from primary disturbers, i.e., electrical and electronic appliances, reach the modem through different paths (channels) and hence pluralities of such noises increase. Diverse topologies of household electrical wiring introduce different types of time and frequency domain ambiguities in impulse noise characteristics before the noises reach the receiver. Hence, we propose that, if impulse noises are being observed at receiver and not directly at source, then time domain characterization should be done only after minimizing the effects of the channels from the observed noise recordings. In this paper we have demonstrated that time-domain pre-processing such as deconvolution is necessary to achieve reliable time-domain characterization if impulse noises are being observed at receiver.","PeriodicalId":313846,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Networks, Computers and Communications (ISNCC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124541364","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, depending on a stale/invalid route to recover from a broken link could increase the delay to recover from the broken link and degrade the network performance. In this paper, we propose a new MAC protocol (RIVC-MB) to enhance communication reliability in the multipath multichannel routing protocol. The reliability of transmitting/re-routing the data packet in multipath multichannel routing protocol is improved by providing early route invalidity detection and early switchover. Waiting time to access the medium is also improved, when a node is attempting to access a busy medium, by re-routing the data packet via the alternative route. The RIVC-MB protocol uses the cross-layer interaction between MAC and routing protocols to achieve these goals. The proposed protocol is implemented and extensively evaluated using the NS-2 simulator. Simulation results show that the new proposed protocol reduces the end-to-end delay, and reduces both the number of route error control packets and the number of dropped data packets in the routing layer. It also reduces the collision rate in the MAC layer in a dense network.","PeriodicalId":313846,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Networks, Computers and Communications (ISNCC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124161514","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The degree of complexity greatly increases when the network is composed of several segments adopting different technologies and standards, as well as the sharing of common resources. Development of suitable models of networking and their implementation using simulation and emulation tools are of paramount importance to address such a complexity in a laboratory-controlled environment. To tackle different aspects of satellite and terrestrial integrated networks, which cover different protocol layers and technology standards, different simulative or emulative approaches are possible. A presentation and selection of simulation and emulation tools is presented in this paper, followed by the description of results obtainable with the selected tools in some explicative study-cases.","PeriodicalId":313846,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Networks, Computers and Communications (ISNCC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133494939","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among several institutions across Europe, Budapest University of Technology and Economics is also taking part in the propagation experiment. The measurement site is located at the university, continuously recording the unmodulated carrier levels of 39.402 GHz and 19.701 GHz along with the main meteorological parameters. The most important phenomenon that causes attenuation is the rain, considering the millimetre wave propagation. Rain intensity is usually measured by different kind of weather sensors, like tipping-bucket, drop-counter type rain gauges or disdrometers. Nevertheless, a point rainfall rate measurement e.g. at the location of the terrestrial endpoint of the radio link usually not correctly represents the rain distribution along the radio path, especially in case of long terrestrial or satellite connections. This paper evaluates the relationship between rain attenuation and rainfall intensity by using the experimental data of Ka/Q band. We extract the rain intensity information by using the measured attenuation on the radio path. For this purpose we process both the Ka and Q-band beacon signals that are transmitted by the Alphasat Aldo Paraboni payload. The dual-frequency approach allows the comparison of the results that may lead to a more accurate attenuation to rain intensity calculation method in the future.","PeriodicalId":313846,"journal":{"name":"2018 International Symposium on Networks, Computers and Communications (ISNCC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133707326","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
