The analysis includes the identification of relevant and negotiable privacy dimensions for different usage domains. Based on a formalization of the user's privacy revelation problem, we model the negotiation process as a Bayesian game where the service provider faces different types of users. Finally an extension to P3P is proposed that allows a simple expression and implementation of negotiation processes.","PeriodicalId":312957,"journal":{"name":"Seventh IEEE International Conference on E-Commerce Technology (CEC'05)","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-07-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114183808","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are structure and semantic differences between services information stored in information sources. Traditional ontology pattern-matching can solve some structure difference problem. But in order to solve semantic difference problem, we propose an architecture for context-based information integration. Within the domain of numerical information integration, we define some novel modeling primitives of translation ontology and propose an algorithm for translation. At last, we give an example of currency translation, and we show how to integrate numerical information using the methodology we proposed.","PeriodicalId":312957,"journal":{"name":"Seventh IEEE International Conference on E-Commerce Technology (CEC'05)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-07-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114325824","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To guard against users being tricked into using fraudulent services, we propose a technical improvement of today's Internet services which makes it impossible for service-offering systems to secretly insert malicious services. Our solution, persistent service links, is based on the trusted platform module (TPM) which was developed by the trusted computing group (TCG) and helps to prevent, for example, fraudulent use of personal user and/or bank account data in e-commerce. By linking the TCG's attestation process to the actual communication, fraudulent services can be expelled while still allowing the user to choose between different services.","PeriodicalId":312957,"journal":{"name":"Seventh IEEE International Conference on E-Commerce Technology (CEC'05)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-07-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128048370","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently, eCare (electronic care) has been an important issue of health care that utilizes the Web technologies to improve the quality of health care. However, existing aging services (health care or eCare) are mostly oriented to clinical gerontology or neurophysiology of aging. This paper devises a novel notion called iCare (intelligent care) which extends eCare (electronic care) technologies to a domain of ambient e-services that meet the desired quality elements. The objective of iCare is to provide quality e-services to the elderly people anywhere and anytime. We also present the iCare e-services framework that comprises an iCare e-service ontology and an e-service provision quality model. This framework also implies a future roadmap of quality-aging e-services that can be particularly accounted as affectionate technologies.","PeriodicalId":312957,"journal":{"name":"Seventh IEEE International Conference on E-Commerce Technology (CEC'05)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-07-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126865068","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such auctions are commonly used for the allocation of spectrum licenses and electricity generation contracts. Our system can simulate the SAA under a variety of assumptions on the participating bidders and market conditions while it comprises a multitude of innovative features: i) a formal definition of bidding strategies for the user to choose from, including an original strategy that we propose; ii) means of incorporating a bidder's prior knowledge about market demand; iii) functionality for introducing beliefs about rival bidders' strategies; and iv) provision of on-line recommendation about the bids to be placed in a SAA in progress. We also present a set of experiments that corroborate the usefulness of our system.","PeriodicalId":312957,"journal":{"name":"Seventh IEEE International Conference on E-Commerce Technology (CEC'05)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-07-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129185915","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we propose a lightweight approach for evolving business models that allows for a quick evaluation of alternatives, while preserving investments in existing business processes. The approach is based on the user requirements notation (URN) for modeling and analysis of early requirements in the form of goals and scenarios. URN models help us model the strategic options available to a business for evolving its business model, and determine when the right moment to apply them has come. We illustrate the systematic and incremental evolution of business model alternatives for an e-business case study.","PeriodicalId":312957,"journal":{"name":"Seventh IEEE International Conference on E-Commerce Technology (CEC'05)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-07-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132429963","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many trust models have been developed, but most are subjective and did not take into account the vagueness and ambiguity of the domain and the specificity of customers. We have developed a model that attempts to identify the information customers expect to find on a vendors website to increase their trust and hence the likelihood of a transaction to take place. In this paper, we present a method based on fuzzy logic to evaluate trust in e-commerce. We argue that fuzzy logic is suitable for trust evaluation as it takes into account the uncertainties within e-commerce data and like human relationships, trust is often expressed by linguistics terms rather then numerical values. We validated the system using two case studies.","PeriodicalId":312957,"journal":{"name":"Seventh IEEE International Conference on E-Commerce Technology (CEC'05)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-07-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131917492","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These challenges include difficulties to extend those tools according to the business requirements and lack of flexibility to customize information presentation according to users' profile. We argue that these issues are due to the lack of integration of business' semantics into the foundations of analytical tools. In this paper, we describe how semantic Web technologies and business semantics were applied on the conception of an architecture for analytical tools. Our ultimate goals are to contribute to the resolution of the above issues and support decision makers from the investigation of their business to the implementation of actions according to insights obtained in their investigations. Such decisions and actions are captured to form a knowledge repository for supporting future decisions.","PeriodicalId":312957,"journal":{"name":"Seventh IEEE International Conference on E-Commerce Technology (CEC'05)","volume":"100 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-07-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114600182","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Customers can differ greatly in their expertise and level of knowledge w.r.t. such product assortments. Consequently, intelligent sales assistance systems are required which support customers with intuitive and personalized dialogs. Knowledge-based recommender systems meet these requirements by allowing a flexible mapping of product, marketing and sales knowledge to the formal representation of a knowledge base. This paper presents the domain-independent knowledge-based recommender system Koba4MS which assists customers and sales representatives by guaranteeing the consistency and appropriateness of proposed solutions, identifying additional selling opportunities and by providing intelligent explanations for identified results. Using examples from the financial services domain we show how constraint satisfaction, model-based diagnosis, personalization and intuitive knowledge acquisition techniques support the effective implementation of customer-oriented sales dialogs. Finally, we present experiences gained from commercial projects.","PeriodicalId":312957,"journal":{"name":"Seventh IEEE International Conference on E-Commerce Technology (CEC'05)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-07-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122684266","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to intense competition for profit opportunities, trading costs can represent a significant portion of overall return. They must be taken into account both when a specific trade is being executed, and when a general investment strategy is being designed. We empirically demonstrate that by combining market orders (which offer immediate execution regardless of price) and limit orders (which offer uncertain execution at a specified price), we are able to obtain a superior average price than by using market orders only. Our analysis highlights the trade-off between expected price improvement from limit orders and the risk of non-execution. We show how to determine the optimal limit order price in a simplified setting and suggest how this approach can be generalized to a complete solution. All of our experimental results are obtained on an extensive collection of NASDAQ limit order data.","PeriodicalId":312957,"journal":{"name":"Seventh IEEE International Conference on E-Commerce Technology (CEC'05)","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-07-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124184955","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
