One of the most promising methods is the Particle Swarm Optimization; however, it needs a long time to find solutions for large scale problems (large swarm populations). This paper presents the implementation and the evaluation of a parallel approach using graphics accelerators. This GPU implementation is about three times faster than the original CPU based method.","PeriodicalId":312683,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE 10th Jubilee International Symposium on Applied Computational Intelligence and Informatics","volume":"121 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134450891","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Highly-secured environments like critical infrastructures have to count less significant but more effective risks, which may lead to a fatal effect in the society. More stringent regulations involve more reliable access systems, which use mostly multimodal biometrical identification. Soft-computing techniques, especially fuzzy logic is suitable as a controller algorithm in a multimodal biometrical identification system. To highlight the advantages of this method, I modeled a comparison between the statistical mean value calculation and the fuzzy logic adapted controller.","PeriodicalId":312683,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE 10th Jubilee International Symposium on Applied Computational Intelligence and Informatics","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116024953","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to be competitive with respect to fossil fuel-based power systems, investment and O&M costs have to drop. We propose an economic assessment of two thermal solar systems designed for operation in the western part of Romania. We show that deployment of a large number of solar systems is conditioned by further technological advancement and massification of production of equipment. Our study is destined to policy makers and potential small investors in solar energy.","PeriodicalId":312683,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE 10th Jubilee International Symposium on Applied Computational Intelligence and Informatics","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129323735","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Substitution system need to have sufficient tolerant ability i.e. robustness to be able to maintain the operation safety of the organisation in case of absence. One of the factors that determine robustness of the substitution system is to what extents of differences are between professional competences of the substituted person and the substitutive person. The focus of my research was to discover anomalies of the substitution network of a middle-sized company using network theory methods. During the research I mapped four different ways the substitution network of the organisation and I investigated the differences and sameness of the particular networks. The differences and sameness that were discovered during the analysis show those latent anomalies of the substitution network, which could significantly influence the operation safety of the organization.","PeriodicalId":312683,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE 10th Jubilee International Symposium on Applied Computational Intelligence and Informatics","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129080232","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The scoliosis is an affection that deviates in a three dimensional plan the patient's spinal cord. Today the severity of the scoliosis is determined by the Cobb angles on the x-ray. Our method uses the Kinect sensor that can capture in a 3 dimensional plane the joints of the human body. Using the joint's position in the 3D plane, the relative angles of key joints to a predetermined point is measured. Using these angles the system calculates the severity of the scoliosis. On the same principle we suggest a system that can monitor the patient's exercises during the treatment.","PeriodicalId":312683,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE 10th Jubilee International Symposium on Applied Computational Intelligence and Informatics","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123504423","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The OpenRISC processing core is flexible in that it allows different hardware configurations, and provides full support on the tool-chain side. In addition to this, it gives full hardware design access, and it is used by a well-established community. This paper has taken advantage of these features in order to study how different processing core's architecture configurations and compiler parameters influence the processing core's performance. Furthermore, an energy consumption model based on performance counters values correlated by physical measurements has been proposed.","PeriodicalId":312683,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE 10th Jubilee International Symposium on Applied Computational Intelligence and Informatics","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114585224","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The flyback bidirectional converter generates a rectified sinusoidal voltage waveform across the output capacitor. The full bridge transistors switch two times in one AC period in order to transform the output capacitor voltage in an AC waveform. The converter ensures also galvanic insulation between input and output, and a possible high conversion voltage ratio given by transformer. A state-space averaging model for the proposed converter was used for stability analysis and to design a tracking controller for output capacitor voltage. Digital simulations validate inverter proper operations and a low output voltage THD value.","PeriodicalId":312683,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE 10th Jubilee International Symposium on Applied Computational Intelligence and Informatics","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129789695","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
