Hospital discharge planning requires collaboration amongst nurses and a range of other healthcare professionals. Aim of the study: To assess nurses' role regarding application of discharge plan for neonates from the Neonatal Intensive Care Units. Design: A descriptive design was used in this study. Setting: This study was carried out in intensive care units at Menouf General Hospital and Al-Shohdaa Central Hospital in Menofyia. Subjects of the study: A convenient sample included all available nurses (90) nurses at the NICUs of the mentioned settings and all available neonates. Tools of data collection: I pre designed questionnaire sheet used to assess demographic data about nurses, demographic data about neonates and nurses’ knowledge related to discharge plan for neonates from NICU, II observational checklist sheet used to assess nursing practices during discharge of neonates and III attitude assessment questionnaire used to assess nurses attitude related to application of discharge plan for neonates from NICU. Results of the study: Represents that more than one third of studied nurses had satisfactory total knowledge, while less than quarter of them had average total knowledge and less than half of studied nurses had unsatisfactory total knowledge about discharge plan. More than one third of studied nurses were competent in their practice, while the rest less than two third of them were incompetent in their practice. Less than half of studied nurses had positive attitude regarding discharge of neonates from NICU and more than half of them had negative attitude regarding discharge of neonates from NICU. Results: 0.3% and 1.2% of study and control groups respectively had good knowledge level at pre QR code training that were highly significantly improved among study group to 86.6% compared to 9.4% of control group post QR code training. Also; there were significant improvement of the mean scores of perception and clinical competency level of vital signs among study group compared to control group post QR code training. Conclusion: there was a significant improvement of knowledge level about QR code learning, students' perception of using QR Code in their studying activities and they had more competent performance after QR code training. Over 90% of women undergoing childbirth experience symptoms of tension-anxiety-pain syndrome. Virtual reality (VR) is a non-pharmacological approach utilized to alleviate pain. Aim of the study : to evaluate the effect of virtual reality on labor pain intensity, duration of the first stage, anxiety, and satisfaction levels among primigravidae. Design: A quasi-experimental design. Setting: This study was conducted at the labor and delivery unit of Sherbin Central Hospital, Dakahlia Governorate, Egypt. Sample : A convenient sample of 112 laboring women. Tools : Data was collected through four tools, A structured Interview Schedule, A Numerical Pain Rating Scale (NPRS), A partograph, a State-Anxiety scale (STAI Form Y-1), and a Virtual Reality Satisfaction questionnaire . Results : This study found no statistically significant difference regarding labor pain intensity and anxiety level before intervention among the virtual reality (VR) and the control group, while there was a highly statistically significant difference regarding labor pain intensity & anxiety level after the first intervention on (4-5cm cervical dilation) and the second intervention on (6-7cm cervical dilation) between the former and the latter group P ≤0.05. In addition, No statistically significant difference was found between the two groups in relation to the duration of the active phase of the first stage of labor after intervention (P= 0.064 ), but this value in the VR group was lower than that of the control group. Moreover, laboring women in the intervention group (VR) were more satisfied by using virtual reality. Conclusion : This study concluded that virtual reality application during the active phase of the first stage of labor significantly reduced labor pain intensity and anxiety level as well as decreased duration of the active phase of the first stage of labor. It also achieved satisfaction of laboring women with using it. Recommendations : Trials for including virtual reality as a one of routine hospital care during childbirth to improve the childbirth experience.","PeriodicalId":311996,"journal":{"name":"Egyptian Journal of Health Care","volume":" May","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138610968","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Breathing exercises, such as alternate nostril breathing and diaphragmatic breathing have gained popularity as complementary approaches to managing these symptoms. Aim: To evaluate the effect of alternate nostril breathing exercise versus diaphragmatic breathing exercise on dyspnea and fatigue among asthmatic patients. Design: A quasi-experimental research design with pre-and post-test was employed for this study. Setting: The study was conducted at the chest inpatient department and outpatient clinic of Cairo University Hospital. Sampling: A purposive sample of 60 participants with severe asthma, were randomly assigned to either group (1) that received alternate nostril breathing exercise or group (2) that received diaphragmatic breathing exercise. Tools : Three tools were used: (1)Participants' socio-demographic and medical related data, (II)Arabic version of the dyspnea-12 questionnaire, and (III)Arabic version of the brief fatigue inventory scale. Results : Post intervention, the total mean score of dyspnea in group 1and group 2 significantly decreased to(22.7±4.8;20.4±5.3)respectively compared to (33.0±3.3;33.9±4.7)respectively pre intervention. There was statistically significant difference in total mean score of fatigue(p=0.000**)pre and post intervention for both studied groups. Moreover, post intervention, there was no statistically significant difference between group 1 and group 2in dyspnea total mean score (p=0.090), while there was statistically significant difference between group 1 and group 2 in fatigue total mean score (p=0.005*). Conclusion: Both alternate nostril breathing and diaphragmatic breathing exercises can effectively improve dyspnea and fatigue among asthmatic participants, while, diaphragmatic breathing exercise demonstrated a superior effect on reducing fatigue compared to alternate nostril breathing exercise. Recommendations: Incorporating breathing exercises into the management of asthma could offer a non-pharmacological approach to alleviate dyspnea and fatigue, moreover, enhance participants' quality of life.","PeriodicalId":311996,"journal":{"name":"Egyptian Journal of Health Care","volume":" 18","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138617848","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
