For static conductivity the results show that the use of an interpolation function grid of 1 mm and a normal mesh are suitable for further more complex models. On the other hand an iterative increasing conductivity behavior describes better the increasing conductivity phenomenon reported to be caused by electroporation. The results reported in this work could be useful in further modeling of breast tumors and development of treatment planning for electrochemotherapy based on invasive ductal carcinoma.","PeriodicalId":311444,"journal":{"name":"2017 Global Medical Engineering Physics Exchanges/Pan American Health Care Exchanges (GMEPE/PAHCE)","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115259833","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our GA uses the best chromosome (member) in a generation to produce new ones. The probabilities of crossover and mutation have not fixed values, instead they depend on the evaluation of the chromosomes involved in the generation of new ones. The GA determines the best components that must be used in prognosis by the kNN method. This method for the UCI breast cancer data usually gives a 76% average accuracy, but we have found a combination of only sixteen components that rises the average accuracy of kNN to 79%.","PeriodicalId":311444,"journal":{"name":"2017 Global Medical Engineering Physics Exchanges/Pan American Health Care Exchanges (GMEPE/PAHCE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129935782","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nevertheless, the conventional echographic equipment gives a poor spatial resolution (several hundreds of micron), clearly insufficient to study the arterial elastic properties. In this paper, the possibility of performing a spectral study of ultrasonic echoes coming from arterial walls, is analyzed, with the aim of seeing viability of achieving a much better estimation of the arterial elasticity, respecting to previous ultrasonic tools proposed with this aim. A comparison will be made between preliminary results obtained with our new proposal and with the better classical procedure for elastic measurements: the cross-correlation based techniques. Results suggest that our hypothesis can constitute a promising via to attain a non-invasive diagnostic of the arterial state with high resolution, by the measurement of its Young's elastic modulus.","PeriodicalId":311444,"journal":{"name":"2017 Global Medical Engineering Physics Exchanges/Pan American Health Care Exchanges (GMEPE/PAHCE)","volume":"120 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128918715","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Detected by the analytical methods, in spite of their high sensitivity, these methods are not suitable for analysis in-situ. Hence, this work consists to develop a low cost and portable system to quantify the concentrations of OTA through ownership of fluorescence. That occurs when it is excited with ultraviolet light (UV) at 375nm. First, an UV emitter and a silicon photodiodes were used; the limit of detection (LOD) was 250 ng/mL, a battery as source and an acquisition system with LabVIEW to process the information in a computer. To detect lower levels, a camera and red, blue and green (RGB) components were employed. The LOD was 5 µg/L. The camera detected the fluorescence in the sample when this was excited with UV light, the variation in the intensity of the color is measured and it has relation with the concentration of the sample.","PeriodicalId":311444,"journal":{"name":"2017 Global Medical Engineering Physics Exchanges/Pan American Health Care Exchanges (GMEPE/PAHCE)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129223014","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The communication system is based on the Metro-Ethernet networks available in most of the medical assistance centers. The work proposes the design of the frame with the necessary information to transmit after each radiological exposition. From this frame, the first estimation of the communications traffic associated with the ‘National Bank of Patient Doses’ has been done for Castilla-La Mancha region. The influence of this new traffic has been evaluated in both the transmitters and in the final receptor ‘National Bank of patient doses’. The results obtained from this experience are going to be the extended to the other regions of Spain.","PeriodicalId":311444,"journal":{"name":"2017 Global Medical Engineering Physics Exchanges/Pan American Health Care Exchanges (GMEPE/PAHCE)","volume":"120 21","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113935092","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Surgical options include closed reduction and percutaneous fixation, open reduction and internal fixation and prosthetic arthroplasty [1]. Recent studies have shown high failure rates after fixation of proximal humerus fractures with a range of 8.6% to 22%. Accordingly, loss of reduction and screw cut-out are the most common reasons for a revision or reoperation surgery [2]. Is thought that the above can occur due to the great rigidity of the implant, which could increases the stress between the implant-bone interfaces leading to the screw cut-out. However, excessively elastic implants lead to premature failure [3]. This study aims to examine 3 main properties (and interactions) in the locking plates design, allowing to estimate the optimal scenarios using the finite element method (FEM) and design of experiments (DOE).","PeriodicalId":311444,"journal":{"name":"2017 Global Medical Engineering Physics Exchanges/Pan American Health Care Exchanges (GMEPE/PAHCE)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132253822","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This disease is more visible in the hands due to the number of joints they have. Often, traditional detection methods have a high economic cost, are inaccessible and in some cases subjective. In this paper, a computer system to help in the diagnosis of RA, by means of process variables, is presented. Results show that our system is able to classify between data from people diagnosed with RA, and the healthy ones.","PeriodicalId":311444,"journal":{"name":"2017 Global Medical Engineering Physics Exchanges/Pan American Health Care Exchanges (GMEPE/PAHCE)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115056570","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Tools currently employed in the clinical field can only compute injury volumes with qualitative and manual methods. The present work proposes a semiautomatic computational method for calculating these volumes. Users of the method are only required to select a single point comprising the injury from one of the slides of a series of medical images. This seed point is used by the proposed algorithm to compute the average and standard deviation of the gray scale magnitude of adjacent pixels which comprise the injury. The method was tested using magnetic resonance images and compared with the volume manually computed by experts using a medical image viewer software. The proposed method showed an absolute error of 7.8%, compared with the averaged volume computed by the experts. Therefore, it is possible to estimate volumes of brain injuries with the proposed semi-automatic algorithm. This method could help decrease the time invested by clinical personnel in computing brain lesions' volumes.","PeriodicalId":311444,"journal":{"name":"2017 Global Medical Engineering Physics Exchanges/Pan American Health Care Exchanges (GMEPE/PAHCE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122563262","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a comparison, the task were also performed in silence and listening to noise. Music prove to be an enhancer, increasing the mean amplitude and energy of the EEG (p<0.001), as well as facilitating the left/right discrimination, albeit with modified target frequencies band. This was caused by the synchronisation of EEG signals with the music played.","PeriodicalId":311444,"journal":{"name":"2017 Global Medical Engineering Physics Exchanges/Pan American Health Care Exchanges (GMEPE/PAHCE)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127945232","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
