This paper proposes a technique for standardizing digital drawing with a CAD system for road design. The technique uses CAD and compatibility of data in Japan; layer information, line styles, color and figure drawing operations, are standardized. Moreover, a field experiment was carried out to confirm the technique's applicability to designing and usefulness for drawing. In this study, a computer aided design system is developed for the purpose of utilizing in some courses on the design practice of steel girder bridges in colleges. With the rapid development of information networks and their browsers, structural engineers and researchers are able to access various types of test data.
