This paper presents a TCM based pulse measurement system which is comprised of a strain gauge based pulse force sensing unit, a varying depth mechanism, signal processing circuits, a data acquisition system and a user interface. The acquired pulse data are recorded for real-time pulse signal display and post-processing. To avoid subjective errors, this paper adopts an average waveform calculation technique to construct a representative single pulse waveform for pulse diagnosis. With the measured pressing depth and force information, the study particularly considers the effects of pulse impedance and takes it as an auxiliary performance index to enhance evaluation of pulse waveform from a TCM perspective. The experiments of measuring a normal Ping Mai pulse waveform demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed system.","PeriodicalId":309023,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/SICE International Symposium on System Integration (SII)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132186269","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Loop closing is the most important step in large-scale mappings and many previous methods rely on image-based feature matching. Such methods are, however, usually costly and tend to sensitive to illumination variations and the robot heading. We therefore propose a new loop closure detection method using WiFi fingerprints. Since WiFi signals are sometimes quite uncertain, we do matching not a pair of poses but a pair of pose sequences for improving the loop closing performance. We then use the WiFi-recorded map to localizing a person with a smartphone. We develop a particle filter-based method and apply it to a robot call system. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed methods.","PeriodicalId":309023,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/SICE International Symposium on System Integration (SII)","volume":"68 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113959340","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When there is a change in the position of the viewpoint, different objects in the scene undergo different displacements, depending on their depth. This is known as ‘Motion Parallax’ and is important for depth perception. It is easy to implement for computer-generated scenes. Spherical cameras like the Ricoh Theta S can capture an all-round view of the environment in a single image, making VR possible for real-world scenes as well. Spherical images contain information from all directions and allow all possible viewpoint orientations. However, implementing motion parallax for real-world scenes is tedious as accurate depth information is required, which is difficult to obtain. In this research, we propose a novel method to easily implement motion parallax for real world scenes by automatically estimating allround depth from two arbitrary spherical images. The proposed method estimates dense optical flow between two images and decomposes it to the depth map. The depth map can be used to reproject the scene accurately to any desired position and orientation, allowing motion parallax.","PeriodicalId":309023,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/SICE International Symposium on System Integration (SII)","volume":"113 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114508456","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of meta-learning purposes is to select the best base learners for certain kind of data set to support future learning process. Comparing average out-of-sample predictability with data bootstrapping is one of popular meta-learning algorithms to measure the performance of each base learner for time series data. The challenge is that it is a very time-consuming for data analytics, such as quantitative investment time series modeling. In order to complete the meta-learning process on time before new time-series data arrive, we need to optimally allocate the limited computation budget to each learner. In this paper, we propose the Asymptotic Meta Learning (AML) to data bootstrapping process during Meta learning, which is one of asymptotic ordinal optimization algorithm for mean measure of designs with random outputs. The numerical experiments are conducted to illustrate its efficiency.","PeriodicalId":309023,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/SICE International Symposium on System Integration (SII)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116316752","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This robotic arm is actuated by gravitational and inertia torque of the counterweights. To date, the control law which achieves the angle control of the robot has been proposed. However, in the research, only 1 DOF robot is discussed. Moreover, the stability analysis of the dynamics hasn't been shown. The new control method proposed in this paper achieves the angle control of 2 DOFs, and we can prove the dynamic stability. In this paper, we show the convergence of the dynamics considering the method. Also we conduct numerical simulations for position control of 2 DOFs robotic arm. Verifying the angles of the robotic arm converge to its desired angles, the utility of the method is demonstrated.","PeriodicalId":309023,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/SICE International Symposium on System Integration (SII)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116688014","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This may be e.g. the electrocardiogram (ECG) to derive the cardiac activity of a human. A great advantage of these methods is that they are widely accepted and clinically recognized and that they provide very good measurement-and diagnostic-results. A major disadvantage of these methods is often the complex measurement setup, e.g. by means of special electrodes attached to the skin or the need of a trained specialist. This is, of course, irrelevant in the field of emergency medicine, but if the general state of a person is to be monitored over a longer period of time e.g. to detect possible negative changes in the patient's condition at an early stage, such methods are rather unsuitable. Furthermore, a measurement setup used in clinical settings often puts the patient into a mode of discomfort. To avoid these disadvantages and to be able to perform a long-term monitoring, the measurement should be preparation free by using e.g. functionalized furniture. Within the scope of the paper, a prototype of a preparation-free measurement setup based on a nursing bed is presented that is functionalized with load cell seat occupancy sensors from the automotive sector. Furthermore, the work carried out so far on the basis of the prototype is presented and discussed as an overview of our research activities in recent years.","PeriodicalId":309023,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/SICE International Symposium on System Integration (SII)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134133204","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among the moving detection algorithms, a Dense SIFT-Flow algorithm is recently introduced. In the conventional Dense SIFT-Flow, a SIFT descriptor and an energy function are employed to make the flow vectors containing the movement information of each pixel at entire image. The matching process in the conventional SIFT-Flow algorithm uses descriptor information and a message-passing method in a coarse-to-fine scheme. Although the matching performance of the Dense SIFT-Flow is good for detecting the movement of each pixel, large computational time is needed. To reduce the complexity of the description part, the proposed method employs a binary descriptor. The process of the binary descriptor is simple enough to reduce the complexity. In addition, the energy function in the conventional Dense Flow-Field must be modified for the binary descriptor as replacing the unfair displacement term of the conventional energy function with a fair displacement term. From the experimental results, we can know that the proposed method is faster than the conventional method with respect to making flow field and more robust with respect to diagonal movements.","PeriodicalId":309023,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/SICE International Symposium on System Integration (SII)","volume":"275 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134362970","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since the wearable robot is in direct contact with the user, safety control is important. In order to improve safety, robot is desirable to be able to be controlled based on contact force: the force applied to the human body by the robot. A control system that feeds back joint torque as contact force has been proposed. However, since the joint torque is the resultant force of the contact force, there is a possibility that the dangerous contact force can not be detected directly. In this paper, the authors propose a new control system based on contact force distribution. The contact force distribution is sensed as pressure distribution by the tactile sensors attached to the robot surface. Impedance control in manipulator was expanded and applied to contact force distribution feedback control. The proposed method is compared with the control based on joint torque and the effectiveness of our method is verified.","PeriodicalId":309023,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/SICE International Symposium on System Integration (SII)","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130582368","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Predicting user interests from their physical movement has a lot of important applications in contextual computing. We have critically reviewed the iBeacon technology and argued for its unique affordance in addressing human factor challenges in indoor contextual computing. We successfully applied iBeacon to model user's spots of interest inside a physical building. In particular, we have developed an iBeacon-based mobile app to capture user's indoor physical movement and collect their temporal feedback for comparison. We evaluated our prediction method by comparing the spatial behavioral data against user explicit responses and had achieved an appreciable precision. We hope to solicit timely feedback from the research community in realizing our ultimate goal of developing indoor navigation aids for users with special needs in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Game.","PeriodicalId":309023,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/SICE International Symposium on System Integration (SII)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132403170","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
