The device is constructed as a soft structure consisting of six actuators. Therefore it can be attached to slightly curved areas of human body and Each actuator has a pneumatic balloon type actuator for force actuation and a permanent magnet and electromagnetic coil for vibration generation. The module is developed in a modular fashion so that the modules can be easily combined to have a larger tactile display or replace if damaged. Each actuator can be independently actuated by means of pneumatic valves for balloon actuation, and voltage direction supply for voice coil actuation. This device is meant to be used in teleoperation and prosthetic device manufacture where it could be used to deliver object texture information and slipping information by combining both force and vibration modalities.","PeriodicalId":309023,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/SICE International Symposium on System Integration (SII)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115712226","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The modulator is implemented by using the fully differential switched-capacitor circuit to compose a discrete-time system. The cascade of integrators with feedforward summation architecture is used to reduce the performance of the amplifier, so the amplifier is enabled to decrease the power dissipation. By considering the characteristics of the modulator, an operational amplifier is designed with low-quiescent current. The chip is implemented in a standard 0.18-μm CMOS process with the area of 0.24-mm2.","PeriodicalId":309023,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/SICE International Symposium on System Integration (SII)","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124563076","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, inspection and repair of the leading-edge part of the blades is severely required, and the number is also high. Inspection and repair work is dangerous and costly. Therefore, we propose a novel robot that can move in a vertical direction by using the blade as a guide while touching the leading-edge of the wind turbine blade. This method involves ensuring that the size of the robot is sufficiently small to be transported by humans, and the robot is controlled in a simple way by only using existing facilities, and thus, it is possible to perform contact work.","PeriodicalId":309023,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/SICE International Symposium on System Integration (SII)","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114577935","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research focuses on an unknown environment especially soft terrain. The proposed control method has two controllers. One is to control the robot balance by controlling the position of center of gravity (COG). The other is to control the position of swing leg. The COG position controller calculates force reference that is generated by the robot pushing the ground using the support leg. Then the ground reaction force is controlled to at the tip of the support leg with force controller without any environmental stiffness information. Bipedal robot walking simulations on the hard and soft grounds are also presented to show validity of the proposed controllers.","PeriodicalId":309023,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/SICE International Symposium on System Integration (SII)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114894572","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the timing of applying the electrical stimulation is performed by manual control or physical contact. It is necessary to detect accurate timing of eating and drinking actions for automated supporting for taste sense. The automated detection of eating and drinking action reduces user's load. In this paper, we propose a new method for automatically detection of drinking action by measuring the ingestion and swallowing. The proposed method utilizes an intra-oral temperature change and movement of tongue during drinking. We experimented the measurement of temperatures at the three points in intra-oral area, and discovered features of temperature change for detecting the ingestion and swallowing actions. Finally, we implemented automatic drinking detection method to the intraoral interface, and evaluated the effectiveness of the proposed method through the experiments.","PeriodicalId":309023,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/SICE International Symposium on System Integration (SII)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123586705","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In casting industry, the manipulatable poring machine is often used for improving the working environment. However, it is difficult to pour molten metal precisely by operating a tilting-ladle-type pouring machine because of pouring flow rate varied by tilting angle of the ladle. In particular, workers should be skilled to operate the pouring machine for pouring molten metal as steady flow. In order to solve this problem, we have developed the control system with manipulatable flow rate in conventional studies. This approach makes workers be able to manipulate the pouring flow rate directly and pour molten metal as steady flow. On the other hand, the trajectory of outflow molten metal is varied by varying the pouring flow rate and it causes spilling of molten metal. So in this study, we propose the manipulation system to pour the molten metal precisely into sprue by integrating the flow rate manipulation system and the falling position control of outflow molten metal. The effectiveness of the proposed system is verified by the laboratory-type pouring machine.","PeriodicalId":309023,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/SICE International Symposium on System Integration (SII)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129484120","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The major muscles control the wrist and finger movements reside in the forearm. The surface EMG of the forearm muscles indicates the movement of wrist and fingers and leads to many applications, such as intelligent prostheses and exoskeletons. Wireless acquisition system has been recently used to collect the sEMG signal from the subject's forearm. In this study, raw EMG data is processed by a Time-Domain Auto-Regressive (TD-AR) model to extract its spatial features. We apply the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) method to reduce the dimensionality and then normalize the feature matrix. A Probabilistic Neural Network (PNN) model has been utilized to train the hand gesture predictor. Total 8 gestures from 5 subjects were selected to train and evaluate the model. The proposed identification model uses 6 channels and achieves stable recognition accuracy, including finger swinging motion. The average success rate of hand gestures identification is 92.2%. In order to visualize the experiment and simulate the control system, a finite state machine is built, which can be used to drive virtual hand or intelligent prostheses for future studies.","PeriodicalId":309023,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE/SICE International Symposium on System Integration (SII)","volume":"173 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122997870","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
