Therefore  health status of common palm civet is very important to be considered because force feeding of coffee can turn to stress condition. Glucose level, leukocyte profile and ratio N/L were often used as stress indicator. This study was aimed to determine glucose levels from blood of common palm civet, determine leukocyte profile and its deffirentiation also to calculate neutrophyl/limpocyte ratio from six common palm civet there were three group of observation, there were common palm civet coffe eaters and not coffe eaters. Blood samples were taken intracardially for further analyzed using manual blood method. Glucose levels of coffee eaters common palm civet was higher than common palm civet that was not coffee eaters. Stress index of coffee eaters common palm civet (0,516) was higher than not coffee eaters (0,463), but it was still in the normal range. Common palm civet that eat coffee continuosly can lead to oxidative stress condition. ","PeriodicalId":308493,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Riset Veteriner Indonesia (Journal of The Indonesian Veterinary Research)","volume":"186 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122104362","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of the study was to identify anthrax in endemic areas in South Sulawesi Province. Soil samples obtained from Gowa and Pinrang regency were examined by bacterial culture test and then positive results from bacterial culture followed by multiplex PCR. Based on the results of the isolation of 52 soil samples show 35 samples from Pinrang regency show all negative anthrax, while from 17 soil samples from Gowa regency show 2 positive samples of anthrax. Positive samples of anthrax were from Timbuseng village, Patallasang district, Gowa regency. The results continued with PCR technique using Bacillus anthracis colonies derived from positive soil samples. It showed the virulent strain of Bacillus anthracis. A virulent strain is indicated by a DNA fragment of a pXO1 plasmid encoding a toxin lethal factor (Lef) of 385 bp and a DNA fragment of a pXO2 plasmid encoding a capsule of anthrax (Cap) of 264 bp and also common bacterial markers of the Bacillus genome chromosome (Ba183) of 152 bp.","PeriodicalId":308493,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Riset Veteriner Indonesia (Journal of The Indonesian Veterinary Research)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115493943","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this study was to identify the presence of Salmonella sp. in cockroach bodies on cargo and passenger ships. This research was conducted at Baubau Port from October to December 2017. A total of 24 ships were examined consisting of 12 passenger ships and 12 cargo ships. Cockroaches were collected from rooms inside each ship namely galley, bridge, deck and bathroom. A total of 3 196 cockroaches caught consisting of Periplaneta americana (69.50%), Blattella germanica (29.60%), Periplaneta brunnea (0.66%), Pseudophorapsis sp. (0.03%), Pycnoscelus surinamensis (0.03%), Periplaneta australasiae (0.03%), and Neuphoeta cinerea (0.03%). The presence of Salmonella sp. were examined for cockroach species with a large number of population, namely Periplaneta americana and Blattella germanica. A total of 95.3% of the 42 cockroaches examined in the laboratory contained Salmonella sp.. Based on this research it can be concluded that the cockroaches collected from the ships leaning at Baubau Port can serve as a vector of salmonellosis for both ship crew and passengers. Keywords: Cockroaches, Ships, Salmonella sp, Salmonellosis","PeriodicalId":308493,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Riset Veteriner Indonesia (Journal of The Indonesian Veterinary Research)","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114997997","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sunda porcupine (Hystrix javanica) is one of the rodents in Indonesia with quill as its spesific skin characteristic. The porcupine quill are distributed in various shapes and sizes in body parts, while dorsal regions and the tail is the body part that has the most developed quill form. This study aimed to measure alpha tocopherol content in the dorsal region skin of male and female Sunda porcupine. The study used skin samples of thoracodorsal and lumbosacral regions of 6 adult Sunda porcupine (3 males and 3 females) and 2 frozen specimens (1 male and 1 female). Samples were prepared and processed for analysis through high performance liquid chromatography. The results showed that the level of tocopherol in the dorsal thoracic region of males and females was much higher than that of the lumbosacral region. The results of this study indicate the characteristics of the skin region affect the levels of alpha tocopherol in the region.","PeriodicalId":308493,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Riset Veteriner Indonesia (Journal of The Indonesian Veterinary Research)","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116812649","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Regular intake of consuming Cd leads to physiological disorders in poultry animal as well as humans as one who consume it. The aim of this study was to analyze the profile of Cd content in environmental samples (poultry feed and water) and it correlated with the degree of contamination in broiler tissues. In this study, 30 samples of feeds and water samples along with 60 samples of liver and muscle have been examined. The results showed that the feed was indicated to Cd between 0.009-0.202 mg / kg and in the water between 0.0068-0.0096 mg / l. Cd in the livers and muscles was then positively contaminated by Cd between 0.438-0.565 mg / kg and the levels was significantly different (p <0.05) among organs. A strong positive correlation was found between Cd and water levels in liver (r = 0.896). In contrast, a weaker positive correlation (r = 0.596) was found in the water and muscle. In conclusion, Cd contamination in feed and water correlated positively with the increasing amount of the cadmium level in organs.","PeriodicalId":308493,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Riset Veteriner Indonesia (Journal of The Indonesian Veterinary Research)","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124844826","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
