Modern technology for fastenings is getting more applied worldwide. Fastenings must be designed in such a way that they do the job for which they are intended, are durable, robust and exposed to external loads. This study deals with the identification of chemical anchors embedded in reinforced concrete slab under tension load. The anchors are embedded according to rules and recommendations given from anchor manufacturer. The axial load capacity and the failure mode are observed for each test. Results from conducted tests are given in form of load – displacement diagram curves which defines the type of anchor failure. Conducted tests in this paper are basis for further experimental researches for chemical anchors under tension load while changing the parameters of concrete, reinforcement, edge and axis distances, embedment depth and other parameters that define the behavior of chemical anchors and ultimate failure loads.","PeriodicalId":30755,"journal":{"name":"Selected Scientific Papers Journal of Civil Engineering","volume":"31 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91276089","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

According to the Eurocode 3, the minimum load amplifier of the design loads and the minimum amplifier for the in plane design loads to reach the elastic critical load with regards to lateral or lateral torsional buckling are determined with the linear buckling analysis and the geometrically and materially nonlinear analysis using finite element method. The results show that shell models can create arbitrarily complex crosssections and obtain more accurate results comparing to beam elements. Finally, the practical implementation of the reinforcement of steel frame is shown.","PeriodicalId":30755,"journal":{"name":"Selected Scientific Papers Journal of Civil Engineering","volume":"131 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80435575","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They are rather irregular, i.e. their shape in the plan can be approximated with different bend radii. Since the bulk of previous research is concerned with simple bends, this paper aims at studying the effect of variable bend curvature on flow in an irregular bend with two bend radii. The effect is studied numerically, using a 3D finite volume based model SSIIM1, which solves Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations with two-equation turbulence model closure. After successful calibration against experimental data from the simple 180° bend, the model is used to simulate flow in 180° variable curvature bends with the following combinations of relative curvature: mild-mild, mild-sharp and sharp-mild. Results have shown that: (1) The maximum spanwise water surface slope always develops at the entrance to the sharp bend, (2) the greatest slope develops in the sharpmild layout, (3) the location where the maximum velocity path cuts the bend centerline does not change with the bend layout (simple or variable curvature), (4) the bend curvature sequence affects lateral velocity distributions of the streamwise velocity only in the middle of the bend, (5) the relative curvature sequence has an adverse effect on the size of two regions with maximum bed shear stress – one around the curvature inflection point and the other close to the bend exit.","PeriodicalId":30755,"journal":{"name":"Selected Scientific Papers Journal of Civil Engineering","volume":"236 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76837100","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Utilizing nonlinear analysis, engineers can directly determine inelastic deformations of elements (e.g. rotation), as well as deformations of the structure (inter-storey drift). In addition, nonlinear analysis can be used to check the bearing capacity of the elements that should remain in elastic region of deformations in order to prevent brittle failure. Subject of this paper is comparison of the results obtained from linear and non-linear seismic analysis of concrete frame structure designed and detailed according to principles of Eurocode 8 and capacity design method. Linear-elastic seismic analysis of multi-story frame structure was performed, with design and detailing of critical regions according to results and relevant requirements of Eurocode 8. Seismic analysis was performed for seismic zone which corresponds to PGA=0.36g (peak ground acceleration) according to EC8, and for ground type C. Assessment of structure performance during strong ground motions was performed with non-linear time history (dynamic) analysis using software PERFORM 3D (Nonlinear Analysis and Performance Assessment of 3D Structures). Non-linear dynamic analysis was performed for four groups of seven ground motion records that were chosen in order to comply with spectrum defined by Eurocode 8 for analyzed frame structure. Comparison of characteristic results is presented at the end of paper, with conclusions, recommendations and critical assessment of regulation.","PeriodicalId":30755,"journal":{"name":"Selected Scientific Papers Journal of Civil Engineering","volume":"42 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86939458","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since failures in rock masses due to loads caused by civil structure and/or civil works occur mainly by exceeding their shear strength, the shear strength of rock joints has huge practical significance in rock engineering. For this reason, in this paper it was decided to analyse one of the factors which have very important influence on the shear strength of rock joints. Namely, natural rock joints are often filled with soft soil material and this infill material may have a significant and often decisive influence on the shear strength of rock joints. As a basis for the conducted analyses were used the results of direct shear tests under constant normal stress which was performed on natural or artificial specimens with horizontal infilled joints by various researchers around the word. Analyses have shown that some basic principles of mechanical behaviour of infilled rock joints during shearing can be reached. The thickness t and mechanical characteristic of the infill material have decisive influence on the peak and residual shear strength of infilled rock joints.","PeriodicalId":30755,"journal":{"name":"Selected Scientific Papers Journal of Civil Engineering","volume":"10 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80842728","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Regular maintenance, especially of historic buildings, is essential in terms of preserving the historic architectural heritage. Research was focused on selected parts of the basement of the historical construction with a special regard to the effect of humidity, salinity and carbonation of masonry structures. Samples were collected in the building basement and subsequently analysed in the laboratory. Chemical analysis of materials was performed by X–ray fluorescence analysis and the soluble salts were investigated by colorimetry. In addition, the content of sulphates was confirmed by infrared spectroscopy. Humidity of individual samples ranged from very low to very high, the highest values were measured around the perimeter of the room (positioning to the outside terrain). The carbonation ranged from grade III to IV, sulphates were detected in practically all samples. The results of study can help to design corrective measures.","PeriodicalId":30755,"journal":{"name":"Selected Scientific Papers Journal of Civil Engineering","volume":"103 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73941226","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Analysis of the environmental impact of particular structures may be helpful for selecting building materials, with regard to the environmental performance of buildings in the early project phase. The aim of this paper is presentation of an environmental evaluation of the rarely assessed particular structures – building foundations and the analysis of the share of the building foundations to the overall environmental impact of building as well. The obtained data point to the need to include the environmental impacts of foundations when assessing the buildings, because of it is a necessary part of any type of family house. One kilogram of built-in foundations materials was responsible for emissions of 0.092 kg of greenhouse gases expressed by carbon dioxide (CO2). Embodied energy was calculated as equal to 1.14 MJ per 1kg of foundations materials and 832.2 MJ/m2 per building floor area.
