The proposed technique mathematically modify the zero-manifold-only time-delay beamformer transfer function by introducing complex pole-manifolds at guaranteed stability. A continuous-time domain 2-D IIR filter is employed as a pre-filtering stage to an existing time-delay beamformer to achieve reduced side-lobe level for the same array size. Improved side lobe performance is verified in terms of frequency response, array pattern, and signal to interference ratio (SIR) simulations. For a 64 element array an SIR improvement of better than 2 dB is verified for varying main beam direction from 0° to 80°.","PeriodicalId":306938,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Radio and Wireless Symposium (RWS)","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126688569","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Each BS has its own RF front-end including the local oscillator, filters, mixers, amplifiers, etc. Consequently, a precise estimation of time delays is not possible. Therefore, a technique to fully synchronize the BSs should be implemented. Using external reference to provide the clock frequency and sample time is not enough for a perfectly synchronized network. The phase uncertainties should be aligned by calibrating the estimated TDOAs. The software defined radio (SDR) modules are used to build a real system to measure the performance of the proposed wireless indoor positioning system using IEEE 802.11ac system parameters. Results show that an accuracy in the range of 3 cm can be achieved for 2 D wireless indoor positioning by using 20 MHz bandwidth.","PeriodicalId":306938,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Radio and Wireless Symposium (RWS)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126880267","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the stability of these circuits is a key issue for their design. In this paper we introduce a three-step scheme to systematically stabilize a non-Foster circuit (NFC) topology that can be used in numerous applications. To demonstrate the stabilization procedure, a NFC to match electrically small antenna is examined. The circuit is stabilized using conventional controllers. In this paper, we investigate the possibility of power synthesis at low-THz frequencies based on discrete THz sources. We show that by applying precision digital phase control, such a power synthesis can be achieved, overcoming the difficulty of phase alignment at these frequencies. For demonstration, we implement a 0.11-THz prototype system based on state of the art F-PLLs and IMPATT diodes. Experimental results validate the proposed approach. With increased wide digital bit width, our method can be effectively used at all sub- and low-THz frequencies in the THz gap, providing an alternative thought to achieve high-power THz waves.","PeriodicalId":306938,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Radio and Wireless Symposium (RWS)","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133308524","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Microstrip capacitive patch is used to provide virtual ground and replace the via in the conventional CRLH TL. Via fabrication complexity can be avoided for large-scale and cost-effective production by using microstrip patch. By cascading the interdigital coupled line with a low-pass filter (LPF) based on symmetrical split ring resonator (SSRR) defected ground structure (DGS), an UWB frequency response is achieved. SSRR DGS was used to obtain wider upper-stopband and sharp roll-off rate. The filter has compact size (15.6 × 13 mm2) and exhibits a rejection level greater than 20 dB at both upper and lower stopband. The filter has an insertion loss of 0.9 dB, a return loss better than 14 dB, and a fractional bandwidth of more than 100% at center frequency of 6.8 GHz.","PeriodicalId":306938,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Radio and Wireless Symposium (RWS)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114605011","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Detection probabilities are derived and investigated for both low and high SNR cases considering different threshold values. Moreover, numerical results show interesting improvements in spectrum sensing systems with the proposed double threshold scheme.
