It is also renowned for its rich nature, cultural diversity and harmony. Satun geopark has a high potential to be further developed for world tourism. However, the geopark green card is validated only for 4 years. Thailand must ensure a delicate balance between local community development and geopark tourism. The goal of this study is to review existing literature on Satun Geopark's destination image, visitor expectations, and intended travel dates. It also aims to develop a conceptual framework for evaluating the importance of Satun Geopark's destination image and visitor expectations. According to the literature, it is clear that tourist expectations and internal motivation have an impact on affective destination image, while external motivation and word of mouth have an impact on cognitive destination image. Cognitive destination image also acts as a mediating factor between external motivation and word of mouth. The results of this study can be used to modify the tourism and information package to maximize tourists' satisfaction and loyalty. It will also guide the Satun geopark in terms of marketing and providing information to the tourists.\u0000 ","PeriodicalId":304737,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Event, Tourism and Hospitality Studies","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130816696","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It investigated perceived sonic characteristics as well as the spatial noise variations across Agodi Park and Gardens in the city of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. Integration of noise mapping and soundscape methods was used to understand the nature of noise being generated in this outdoor setting. Sound Pressure Level (SPL) was used to obtain data from nine major locations within the park. Using a non-probabilistic method of sampling, fifty respondents were selected incidentally to participate in this study. With the aid of an instrument consisting structured questionnaires and observation checklist, information on respondents’ demographic characteristics, their perceptions of the recreational noise, and desirability levels of soundscape in the park was obtained. Recreational noise data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Test of Difference (T-test) to investigate time-based variations in the level of noise (morning and evening periods). Although most respondents were oblivious of the noise exposure, findings show that the average sound level in the park was 77 dBA which exceeded the recommended noise limit of 60 dBA expected in recreational parks. The study recommends that soundscape characters should be considered in the design of future urban parks as they would go a long way in improving and enhancing the quality of perceived user’s comfort.","PeriodicalId":304737,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Event, Tourism and Hospitality Studies","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123904004","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Village Fund is one of the fiscal development instruments aimed at accelerating the distribution of welfare for the villages especially for tourism villages. Data used in this study includes the realization of the Village Fund in 2018 and 2019 from the Fiscal Policy Agency (BKF), Ministry of Finance. Data on the realization of the Village Fund are categorised into output codes in the form of numbers. For achieving the research objectives, the analytical tool used is Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) to measure the efficiency level of a DMU (Decision Making Unit). The lack of efficiency in utilizing the Village Fund is influenced by several factors, including the lack of knowledge and capabilities of village officials, the lack of data base common platform, the lack of technical capability in managing administrative aspects, and the misalignment of Village Fund expenditures and the village needs or targets. The study concluded that there is a need for more substantial synergies and coordination between the central and regional governments on the common platform village fund data base to minimize the deficiencies to overcome these obstacles.","PeriodicalId":304737,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Event, Tourism and Hospitality Studies","volume":"105 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127157720","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A case study has been used as a research method in both countries, focusing on wine tourism and cultural tourism. The information for this study was gathered through secondary research, a study visit, and teaching at Waterloo University in Canada. In Slovakia, both primary and secondary research results were gathered. Organizing events in tourist destinations can increase the destination’s significance and improve the competitiveness of tourism destinations. It is important to mention that during this event periods, the consumers' preferences change and it may influence their choice of destinations and tourism products. The ageing population and their interest in travel destinations that offer wine tasting, culinary products, and culture are other factors contributing to the growth of wine tourism and cultural tourism. It also affects where marketing and branding ideas are placed in tourist destinations.\u0000 ","PeriodicalId":304737,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Event, Tourism and Hospitality Studies","volume":"516 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116567693","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One way to ensure that safety and security are satisfactorily provided is to regularly assess and seek the perceptions of stakeholders. Studies that make such an attempt, particularly in a Nigerian Geopark are relatively underrepresented in the literature. This study therefore evaluates safety and security situations at a large geopark and one of the most visited tourist destinations in Nigeria. Through direct observation, an on-site assessment of safety and security measures was undertaken by experts. The assessment instrument was designed using an empirical adaptation of standards which have been suggested in the literature. In addition, members of the site management were interviewed on various outcomes of the field study. Generally, the safety and security architecture in the study area appeared to be insufficient as the management seemed restrained to be too proactive for fear of scaring wildlife and visitors. Besides, the management did not consider the site to be under any serious threat as no major accident and/or crime has been recorded in the last decade. The study concludes that safety and security approaches in the study area do not reflect standard measures but rather cautious approach and an overly dependence on a supposed good past record. The result of this study can facilitate standard practice for safety and security in tourist destinations. This study fills the knowledge gap by providing information on the Nigerian experience regarding safety and security of Geopark in the Global South.","PeriodicalId":304737,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Event, Tourism and Hospitality Studies","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132875144","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As one of the most resilient industries, the hospitality sector is the focus of this research, particularlythe hotel lodging industry in the Bucharest metropolitan area (Romania’s capital city) as it relates to passenger traffic at two important international transportation hubs: the international airport and railway station. The site selection, or selection of an appropriate location for lodging, is astrategic choice. The distinction between success and failure is also determined by other external factors as well as internal company factors. There is a wealth of literature on business location, and the main approaches are highlighted in the section onliterature reviews. Future research will need to address the issue of business location in relation to transportation hubs that can attract potential customers. There are two specific questions to reach the research objective: to find out if the traffic from the transit terminals influences the number of accommodation facilities and if there is a specific pattern for choosing the location of tourist accommodation facilities (hotels) in the studied area. The investigation methodology consists of both secondary sources and primary research, respectively: national statistics as well as international databases such as Google Maps and OpenStreetMap, extensively use the geographic information system (GIS) database and software tools (QGIS 3.22 and Google Earth Pro 7.3.4.8573). The intent is to find whether there is a relationship between the two databases studied. It can be concluded that the number of tourist accommodation facilities and its locations are related to the main passenger traffic flows from/to the Bucharest “Henry Coanda” International Airport OTP and Bucharest North Railway station. The results, which are presented in both tabular and dynamic graphical formats, are beneficial for scholars and mostly for practitioners and businesspeople. Besides, the findings from this study is valuable for policymakers and strategists at a macroeconomic level, as well as for tourism and hospitality entrepreneurs and managers. The implications are highlighted, and recommendations are presented in this paper.","PeriodicalId":304737,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Event, Tourism and Hospitality Studies","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130417185","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to investigate tourists’ expectations of information provided by QR codes and to study tourists’ satisfaction with QR codes on Street Art in Songkhla old town, Thailand. Quantitative research design was employed in this study. 100 Thai and non-Thai respondents from each of the two phases of data collection answered each set of two questionnaires. Majority of the tourists responded for the need of QR codes to represent Street Art paintings in Songkhla old town as they would like to know the meaning of the paintings in more detail. The language used in QR codes should be English and Thai. The majority of the tourists showed satisfaction with QR code as information sources for Street Art paintings in terms of design, codes’ easy usage, and its accessibility which is not complicated. The results of this study can facilitate travelers’ rapid and easy access to tourism information. The QR codes can improve tourists’ experience by giving background information behind each painting related to history, culture and local ways of life. It helps both tourists and locals to discover more information about the cultural heritage they inherited and to enhance their awareness of heritage preservation. Tourism stakeholders and policy makers also benefit from this study as the information can be used to develop the QR codes for other tourist destinations. Additionally, street art plays an important role in creating creativity in the city and contributes in promoting Songkhla Old Town. It is considered as a tool to drive the local economy.
