This study aims to reflect on the transformation of the tattoo community, giving voice to tattoo artists themselves in order to reveal their practices within the digital spaces they operate in, and on this basis, to undertake a broader reflection on users’ expectations towards social media in their current form and in the future. In order to achieve this premise, a grounded theory methodology was applied. The results of the study suggest that forms of resistance to plat- form hegemony, such as alternative social media, would not necessarily address the real needs of tattoo artists and their clients. Tattoo artists, by inventing various tactics of poaching in the polymedia environment, can reap unexpected benefits from the aspects of the platforms that are often perceived as limiting and potentially harmful – such as content selection algorithms.","PeriodicalId":30309,"journal":{"name":"Studia Humanistyczne AGH","volume":"8 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84211357","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The context of the 2020 presidential elections in Belarus and the resulting boom of participation in the local and national political agendas is taken here as a particular configuration of the mentioned interplay and its outcomes. The first part of the paper focuses on the role of digital platforms in the studied boom of participation in 2020, the second documents the urban policy developments in Belarus during the period of 20152020, and the third reflects on the compatibility of the Belarusian case with wider discussions on the political impact that the spread of digital platforms has on urbanism. It is argued that the repressive state, the gradual marketization of urban development and the accompanying strengthening of urban dwellers economic autonomy, and the proliferation of commercial digital platforms and civic tech are the factors that have defined the studied politicization and the boom of participation in Belarus. The examined case shows the contours of emerging politics in non-democracies under conditions of ubiquitous digitalization and the pressure on the states redistributive capacities.","PeriodicalId":30309,"journal":{"name":"Studia Humanistyczne AGH","volume":"65 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91234703","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Jaką rolę mogą jednak odgrywać w ponowoczesnych społeczeństwach zachodnich aplikacje mobilne promujące ideę niemarnowania jedzenia, nawiązując w ten sposób do kwestii ochrony środowiska przyrodniczego będącego wspólnym dobrem ludzkości? Artykuł eksploruje możliwości wykształcenia się więzi społecznych w obszarze ochrony środowiska dzięki aplikacjom Too Good To Go i Foodsi oraz grupom w mediach społecznościowych zrzeszającym ich użytkowników. Opierając się na wynikach badania ilościowego poprzedzonego analizą treści w grupach użytkowników na portalu Facebook, autorka odpowiada na pytanie, czy aplikacje mobilne mogą stać się podstawą więzi społecznych. Traditionally, a Soviet residential yard is presented in urban studies as the sphere of a neighbors active participation. The post-Soviet changes have significantly weakened the activities of neighbor communities; however, the spread of digital communication tools (social networks and messengers) has led to an increase in civic engagement in cities (new forms of neighboring communities are created, traditions of spending time together with neighbors revived, and individuals are actively involving in the struggle for their place in the city). Jego celem jest przedstawienie, jak tragiczne, choć nieprzeżyte osobiście wydarzenia wpływają na życie kolejnego po bezpośrednio doświadczającym traumy pokolenia. Matka autorki, będąc dzieckiem, jako jedna z nielicznych przeżyła wojenną masakrę we wsi Sochy na Zamojszczyźnie i całe życie zmaga się z zapamiętanym okrucieństwem tamtych wydarzeń. Jej córka zna wojnę tylko z opowieści matki, przez międzypokoleniowy przekaz pamięci, ale doświadcza podobnych do matki syndromów. Narracja literacka okazuje się remedium na doznaną traumę obu pokoleń - doświadczonego bezpośrednio wojną i pokolenia postpamięci. Relacjonując losy matki, Janko stawia się w pozycji potomka ocalałych, ale też ofiary, która musi zmierzyć się z tą odziedziczoną traumą. Ponadto, jako że pamięć społeczna o wojnie jest obecnie zdominowana przez inne narracje, książkaAnny Janko wyprowadza wspomniane wojenne wydarzenia z marginesu pamięci społecznej.","PeriodicalId":30309,"journal":{"name":"Studia Humanistyczne AGH","volume":"89 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84423562","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
