El filósofo las aprovecha para exponer sus teorías estoicas sobre la irreversibilidad de la muerte y la inutilidad del lamento. Con tres destinatarios diferentes, pero con argumentos, estructura y estilo semejantes, las Consolaciones nos permiten ahondar en el pensamiento senequiano. La victoire sur les ennemis aura l'approbation divine, tandis que les vertus de chaque monarque sont surveillées d'une certaine manière par Dieu lui-même. Esto le supuso la cárcel, además de otras dificultades personales. El presente ensayo se acerca a sus escritos mostrando cómo el elemento que sostiene su pensamiento en todo momento es la predicación. Y, al mismo tiempo, la conciencia que él tiene de dicho ministerio. Esto se prueba a partir de documentos de época ya conocidos y, también, de otros inéditos. En estas notas, el autor trata de analizar la figura del fundador del islam y demostrar su origen impío y, en consecuencia, el de su doctrina. Asimismo, analizamos, en primer lugar, la transmisión y la recepción textual del historiador latino en España durante el siglo XVII, pero también durante la Edad Media y el Prerrenacimiento para establecer si los hermanos Coello y Rojas pudieron tener acceso a ella. Por otra parte, desgranamos la vida de Rómulo en una serie de mitemas y comparamos los que aparecen en la comedia áurea con los de Ab urbe condita.
