This research aims at exploring the major reasons related to the difference of tolerance levels of students learned from Madrassa and University. Secondly it sorts out the core differences and address them equally to find a way for their resolution through casual comparative research design. Data were collected conveniently from 300 respondents having ages ranged from 24 to 30 years from both disciplines (Madrassa & University) through five point likert scale questionnaire comprising of 29 items. For checking the reliability of the scale, a pilot study was conducted and .674 Cronbach’s Alpha was found. Data were analyzed on independent sample t-test through SPSS. The study found a significant difference between the tolerance level of students learned from Madrassa and University. The tolerance level of students learned from Madrassa was very low.","PeriodicalId":302819,"journal":{"name":"Vol. 2 No. 1 (2022): WINTER (January-March)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134086858","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When calamities occur in a place where people are not ready to respond, the subsequent damage can lead to mortality, loss, and suffering. The school is an example of such communities where many vulnerable children are susceptible to the negative impact of natural or manmade hazards. This study aimed to determine the disaster-related knowledge, adaptation, preparedness and readiness, risk perception, and awareness of 503 students from the senior high school department of Eastern Samar State University, Philippines. Students' understanding of disaster risk reduction knowledge was gathered using an adapted questionnaire and analyzed with descriptive statistics and non-parametric tests. Survey results revealed that despite the school is situated in a rural area, senior high school students are ready, aware adapted, and prepared from the risks inflicted by disasters. Moreover, the sex of the respondents has significant differences with disaster preparedness and readiness, adaptation, and disaster-related knowledge. Likewise, the respondents' grade level, only the disaster-related knowledge, showed a significant difference among all categories. Also, all of the categories of disaster risk reduction have a significant difference with the respondents' academic strands. However, the family monthly income shows no differences in all categories of their perceptions of disaster risk reduction. Furthermore, disaster risk reduction education and initiatives in schools should be enhanced to reduce student's susceptibility to disasters.","PeriodicalId":302819,"journal":{"name":"Vol. 2 No. 1 (2022): WINTER (January-March)","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128222157","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A qualitative approach was adopted to study the textbook with gender perspectives. Gender presentation in school textbooks is a newly emerging field of study in academia. The ministry of education clearly states that \"efforts will be made to eliminate gender bias in textbooks and curriculum\" (Ministry of Education 2003b, 22). There is still a lack of practical application for gender equity in schooling tackling the obstacles in the way of such goals (Khalid and Khan 2006; Khan 2007). This study used the two main themes 1. Nature of narrations and 2. Sensitivity of illustrations. Nine steps were taken in this research process. All the themes and sub-themes have a male dominancy though the 1973 Constitution of Pakistan has claimed to remove the gender disparities. , it is clear that schools textbooks promote the gender biased approach because men are shown in powerful, prestigious, well reputed and respectable jobs and women are shown in less visible and less valued positions. It was suggested that to improve feminine visibility, the government, the textbooks boards, and the directorate of the curriculum should assure the equal distribution of contents between the genders in Pakistan.","PeriodicalId":302819,"journal":{"name":"Vol. 2 No. 1 (2022): WINTER (January-March)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130847244","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
