Firstly, modeling phase begins with a derivation of suitable mathematical model to describe the lateral directional motion of an aircraft. Then, the Linear Quadratic Controller (LQR) and Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) are developed for controlling the roll angle of an aircraft system. Simulation results of roll controllers are presented in time domain and the results obtained with LQR control are compared with the results of FLC. Finally, the performances of roll control systems are analyzed in order to decide which control method gives better performance with respect to the desired roll angle. According to simulation results, it is showed that LQR controller deliver the best performance than fuzzy logic controller.","PeriodicalId":301397,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent Systems and Applications","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115616162","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The motivation for association mining is to use the rules obtained from historical data to influence future transactions. However, associations in transactional processes change significantly over time, implying that rules extracted for a given time interval may not be applicable for a later time interval. Hence, an analysis framework is necessary to identify how associations change over time. This paper presents such a framework, reports the implementation of the framework as a tool, and demonstrates the applicability of and the necessity for the framework through a case study in the domain of finance.","PeriodicalId":301397,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent Systems and Applications","volume":"6 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120903631","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper introduces a method for an efficient color detection in RGB space using an ensemble of experts in hierarchical structure. In this structure, a set of experts is assigned to evaluate R, G, B components of a pixel and then constructs a degree of membership to the set of predefined class of colors for the given pixel. Then a master neural network constructs its final decision based on the membership probabilities provided by the set of experts. Qualitative and quantitative evaluations of the results show that the proposed hierarchical structure of neural networks is superior over the conventional neural network classifier in color detection.","PeriodicalId":301397,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent Systems and Applications","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124638013","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this study is to classify snore related sounds into snore/non-snore episodes using adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system (ANFIS). Time-domain features which are entropy, energy and zero crossing rates were used and applied to data for ANFIS classifier model. At first, apnea and normal snore related sounds obtained from different patients are segmented. After segmentation, energy, entropy and zero crossing rates are calculated. Unlike the previous studies, entropy information was firstly used for snoring classification. Then, ANFIS was used to classify episodes as snore/non-snore. Experimental results have shown that ANFIS is able to classify snore segments with accuracy rate 97.08%. In conclusion, the results prove that ANFIS has good performance for classifying snore related sounds.","PeriodicalId":301397,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent Systems and Applications","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125944072","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An appropriate countermeasure is required if any qualitative and quantitative analysis is going to be implemented based on these responses. Here, a novel compensation method based on the fuzzy modeling of the sensor behavior is presented. Gas sensor is treated as a nonlinear system that is affected simultaneously by three inputs, the partial pressure of the target gas, the humidity, and the temperature of the surrounding atmosphere. The single output of this system is the sensor's resistance that is referred to as the sensor response. A large database was created out of the experimental results, i.e. the inputs and outputs of the system in different conditions. It was shown that an appropriate recursive least squares (RLS) fuzzy model can be employed for modeling of the system and a quantitative analysis of the responses in different conditions. The results of the analysis were employed for the partial compensation of the drift caused errors. The method reduced the humidity and temperature variation caused errors by a factor of 5 in the laboratory tests conducted.","PeriodicalId":301397,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent Systems and Applications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130202992","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Artificial immune based classifiers have two important challenges: (1) the recognition distance threshold which choosing an appropriate recognition distance threshold is a difficult task because it necessitates the understanding of the data set in detail, (2) A detector generation algorithm that all classifiers used randomized algorithm to generate memory cell. In this paper for resolve above problems a deterministic algorithm is used to generate memory cell and an adaptive method is used for calculation the recognition distance threshold. Therefore the generated detectors have a good quality of the distribution and on the other hand, NSSAC can be adapted automatically to each data set. The classifier was tested on three benchmark data sets and the results show that our algorithm is useful for classification problems.","PeriodicalId":301397,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent Systems and Applications","volume":"208 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133068916","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The goal is to control the robot so that it can move with only two wheels. This paper elaborates the design and evaluation of its chassis. The chassis is constructed with Lego Mindstorm NXT and controlled by the AVR ATMega16 microcontroller. The system uses MX2125 accelerometer sensor from Parallax to evaluate the robot chassis. Two chassis design, i.e. model A and B are developed. From the experiments, it is shown that robot chassis design must address the mechanically stable issue. Therefore chassis model A is discarded. PD controller is recommended for this chassis model B. The chassis also considers the flexibility to mount such a load. Mounting load under the axis helps to stabilize the chassis. This makes the controller design easier. The load position opens the further research topic. Using Lego Mindstorm is very helpful in design and evaluation of mechatronics set up.","PeriodicalId":301397,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent Systems and Applications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128700606","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
