Our information community system is designed to provide appropriate services to users depending on their needs, thus, we applied a user model-based application, which can help select and filter user information, to our system for providing appropriate services to users. For achieving the design goal, we first collected motion logs. We collected the motion data from motion sensing input device. Life logs can then be created from these motion logs. We discuss different service modes of our information community system. The research shows how to determine different user models from motion data, and apply these models and log data to support not only individuals but also families and communities. Especially for the community, we develop three applications. These are the application using gesture recognition, the application using conversation with a user, and the application using pass-by wireless communication.","PeriodicalId":301286,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Biometrics and Kansei Engineering","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114597567","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, because the testing environment is dramatically different from the traditional one, new technologies are required to prevent cheating. Many studies have addressed testing environments where a keyboard and mouse are used as input devices, but few have focused on an environment using tablet computers, which are widespread nowadays. The aim of our study is to develop a method of detecting impersonation using touch gestures on a tablet computer. We verified that tap gestures performed by different people on a tablet computer can be distinguished by extracting some features from finger tapping images. An experiment using 30 subjects was conducted for verification.","PeriodicalId":301286,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Biometrics and Kansei Engineering","volume":"103 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124177475","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The presented method is based on the analysis and comparison of the features extracted from lip print images. These features are the sections that represent the lines located on the lips. Sections were extracted using the Hough transform and an algorithm for searching for the sections lying on straight lines. The coefficient of similarity of average differences was used as the measure of the similarity between the sections. This coefficient was modified to take account of section features such as: the length, the angle of inclination in relation to the X axis, and the location of the midpoint of the section. The effect of the length of the analysed sections on the results of the classification was also determined during the studies.","PeriodicalId":301286,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Biometrics and Kansei Engineering","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123480777","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to contribute to meet this challenge, this study conducted two experimental studies focusing mainly on one perceptual feature, website color, while solving the problem structured on its proposed case scenario: a brick and mortar sportswear company expanding overseas, targeting Japan or Mexico, will migrate online and wishes to utilize its e-store interface colors to be appealing and influence customers' arousal levels. Therefore, this researched took the aim to identify the most influential emotional and aesthetic Kansei factors for Japanese and Mexican young adults when evaluating sports-wear e-store interfaces and their color preferences, while correlating Kansei factors to individual colors. Results showed that the Japanese population was more critical depending on the level of emotional arousal experienced on emotions such as, cheerfulness and excitement, while seeking the novel aesthetics of consistency, dynamicity and modernity. However, only the role and impact of gender of an interface was effectively measured on the Mexican population. Colors preference similarities, with their individual Kansei interpretations, were successfully mapped for male's and female's e-store interfaces. The main originality of these studies lay in the adoption of Kansei Engineering on the e-Commerce context as a systematic method to engineer consumers' emotional and affective responses and incorporate them into new guidelines of web design.","PeriodicalId":301286,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Biometrics and Kansei Engineering","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130285265","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We executed POMS (Profile of Mood States) before and after sleep, and investigated the change in subjects' moods according to sleep. We prepared bed mattresses that have different elasticity moduli for each body region respectively and 2 bed mattresses. All mattresses are composed of the pocket coil system. We measured the PSG and Actigraph of subjects while sleeping in each bed mattress so that the quality of sleep can be estimated. The PSG is a comprehensive recording of the biophysiological changes that occur during sleep. The Actigraph is a comprehensive recording of the body movements that occur during sleep. As a result, the sleep depth on a bed mattress with high degree of elasticity became deep as shown by the evaluation using PSG and Actigraph. We concluded that there is a posture suitable for sleeping from this experiment.","PeriodicalId":301286,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Biometrics and Kansei Engineering","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131782721","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Constant spread of Internet makes efficient remote authentication a pressing issue with remote interaction providing additional difficulties. Authentication methods based on most biometrics techniques mostly require dedicated hardware that is unhandy for remote applications. Keystroke dynamics however requires uniquely dedicated software and no indispensable dedicated hardware. The approach proposed by the authors in this paper is aimed at efficient user authentication with keystroke dynamics using non-fixed text of various size. We have tested the approach on a small group of individuals, with data gathered in various ways: over Internet using browser-based WWW application and on local machines using dedicated applications. The obtained results cans be used as indication for future keystrokes database creation.","PeriodicalId":301286,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Biometrics and Kansei Engineering","volume":"64 8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132185155","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

After acquiring the characteristic points, describing eyes, nose, lips and the shape of the face, the density function is estimated from them. When the function is known, its values are calculated in the characteristic points. These values are used to compose the feature vector for person description. This vector is then used for classification using Euclidean norm. Both methods gave satisfactory results and the second one even gave less Error Rate. Authors propose a solution to minimize False Acceptance Rate to the level where the algorithm may be applied in human identification and verification solutions where this factor is more important than the reduction of False Rejection Rate.","PeriodicalId":301286,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Biometrics and Kansei Engineering","volume":"126 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131951364","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus user can perform personal authentication by speaking in lip-sync in front of camera. Time series data is obtained by movement of lip. DP(Dynamic Programming) matching is used in personal authentication. Evaluation experiments were carried out in 43 person subjects. The system performance showed that false rejection rate(FRR) is 3.0%, false acceptance rate(FAR) is 14.5% in the case of using same words, 0.0% in the case of using different words, respectively.
