Therefore, Hybrid In-Band On-Channel (HIBOC) broadcasting system has been proposed as a composite solution to transmit digital and analog amplitude modulation (AM) signals in the conventional AM band. This system has been adopted by US as a digital radio broadcasting standard, and the specification is named as HD Radio AM. Although the modulation scheme in this standard is the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) which has been widely applied to various digital communication systems, the receiver architecture could not be the same as the conventional OFDM receiver design owing to the overlapping spectrum between the analog and digital signals. In this paper, a high-pass filter is employed to improve the performance of the symbol timing detection. In a fading channel, the channel response must be estimated before canceling the interference of the analog AM signals. Besides, when implementing the system on the FPGA based hardware platform, both the theoretical and the practical aspects have been considered to reach the available hardware resource. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can keep good system performance.","PeriodicalId":301015,"journal":{"name":"International Symposium on Wireless and pervasive Computing (ISWPC)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130009427","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The goal of LTE is to provide high data transmission rate, scalable bandwidth, low latency, and high-mobility. LTE employs Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and Single Carrier - Frequency Division Multiple Access (SC-FDMA) for downlink and uplink data transmission, respectively. As to SC-FDMA, there are two constraints in resource allocation. First, the allocated resource blocks (RB) should be contiguous. Second, these allocated resource blocks are forced to use the same modulation technique. This paper focuses on the resource allocation problem of LTE SC-FDMA system. The aim of this paper is to propose a QoS-constraint resource allocation scheduling to enhance data transmission on uplink SC-FDMA. The proposed scheduling is a three-stage approach. In the first stage, it uses a time domain scheduler to differentiate UE services according to different QoS service requirements. In the second stage, it uses a frequency domain scheduler to prioritize UE services based on channel quality. In the third stage, it limits the times of modulation downgrade in RBs allocation to enhance system throughput. In the simulations, the proposed method is compared to fixed sub-carrier dynamic resource allocation algorithm and adaptive dynamic sub-carrier resource allocation algorithm. Simulation results show that our method outperforms the other two methods in terms of throughput, transmission delay, packet loss ratio, and RB utilization.","PeriodicalId":301015,"journal":{"name":"International Symposium on Wireless and pervasive Computing (ISWPC)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124001315","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to the prevailing of smartphones and 3G networks, more and more mobile hotspots acting as dynamic access points in public places have hindered the effectiveness of the learning and recognition of POIs. How to effectively eliminate those casually appeared mobile hotspots to improve the accuracy of place finding has recently drawn a lot of research attentions. In this paper, we propose the self-adjustment places of interest finding (SAPFI) to deal with the aforementioned problem. By weighted merging of WiFi beacons in the fingerprints of two similar places, the SAPFI is more robust than the existing place finding approaches such as BeaconPrint, PlaceSence, and SensLoc, especially in detecting public places where mobile hotspots are highly likely presented. The experiment results showed that compared to the existing place finding approaches, the SAPFI has the highest precision of 0.94 and the highest recall of 0.8 in POI discovering. In addition, the SAPFI with the highest F1 score of 0.86 also shows its superiority in place learning and recognition.","PeriodicalId":301015,"journal":{"name":"International Symposium on Wireless and pervasive Computing (ISWPC)","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121217475","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We investigate how to make RSM able to deal with different interference scenarios. The interference at the receiver side is considered as a vector-valued stochastic process characterized by a covariance matrix which is to be estimated and used subsequently for defining the retransmission subspace identifier to be fed back to the transmitter. We consider both the sample covariance matrix (SCM) estimator and an empirical Bayesian (EB) scheme as well as different probability distribution functions and correlation properties of the interference vectors. It turns out that the proposed RSM modification substantially improves the bit-error rate performance in the presence of interference where EB and SCM perform comparably due to the conditions for the covariance matrix estimation in RSM with limited frame length. Moreover, adaptive RSM leads to a performance being independent of the correlation coefficient of the interference vector.","PeriodicalId":301015,"journal":{"name":"International Symposium on Wireless and pervasive Computing (ISWPC)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122270360","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Automation applications cover a broad domain from industrial automation, home automation to automation in body area networks and have specific real-time requirements differing from each other depending on the criticality of the application. Given the complex nature of WSAN, efficient techniques are required to obtain error-free protocol designs. Formal specification languages like Coloured Petri Nets assist designers to capture this complexity. GinMAC is a Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol that aims at satisfying the real-time requirements laid down by the Wireless Sensor Actuator Networks applications. In this article, we provide a formal executable specification for the GinMAC protocol. With this formal executable model, we precisely capture the abstract features of this protocol and analyze it. Our formal executable model is platform independent and can be used as a basis for further analysis of the protocol or any protocol extensions that are made to this protocol. The platform independence allows us to convert this model to various other analysis tools including model checkers, network simulators, and hardware emulators.","PeriodicalId":301015,"journal":{"name":"International Symposium on Wireless and pervasive Computing (ISWPC)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124133761","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This increased the complexity of UE (user equipment) and eNBs (evolved Node B) structures, but with simplified core networks. A more flat architecture is achieved to raise data rate and low system latency that are appreciated by users using real-time or high throughput applications such as MAR (mobile augmented reality) or video game applications. The work introduces indoor and outdoor LTE (Long Term Evolution) testbeds for UE performance evaluation via IOT (interoperability) tests and field trials. Throughput for distinct UL-DL (uplink-downlink) configurations were measured to evaluate devices' performance.","PeriodicalId":301015,"journal":{"name":"International Symposium on Wireless and pervasive Computing (ISWPC)","volume":"31 9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127646090","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
