Nearly in 100% of these cases umbilical cord entanglement was diagnosed.2 umbilical cord strangulation may leads to more than 50% of fetal death rate, its precise evaluation and treatment are very essential to enhance favorable outcomes.3 because of dividing membranes in monochorionic diamniotic pregnancies, cord strangulation which is a leading cause of fetal mortality in monoamniotic pregnancies is not a complication.4 In spite of this complication can be diagnosed by a variety of methods include color Doppler, 3D U/S and pulsed Doppler sonography; no method provides diagnosis with high certainty, making the diagnosis uncertain in some cases.2 In this case, we report unexpected fetal demise of the normal co-twin at 35 weeks gestation, after the death of the first co-twin and now we report it with short review.","PeriodicalId":300833,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Pregnancy & Child Birth","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129985391","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research aims at studying Atosiban efficacy in terms of prolongation of pregnancy taking the initial cervical dilation (upon admission) is the principle factor.","PeriodicalId":300833,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Pregnancy & Child Birth","volume":"150 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116369016","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Patients and methods: Pregnant women at early third trimester (28-32 weeks) attending for antenatal care unit were evaluated by history, examinations, and ultrasound for fetal assessment. Vaginal swabs were taken from posterior fornix for bacteriological and parasitological examination to determine nature and type of vaginitis. Patients either with evident vaginitis (Group I) or without vaginitis (Group II) were followed up till delivery. Neonatal problems were also assessed. Results: The incidence of vaginitis at Tanta University hospitals was 51.57%. The incidence is more in patients with low education, non-occupied and those from rural areas. Bacterial vaginitis was the most common type (30.63%). Preterm labour occurred in 33 (16.75%) in vaginitis group compared to 10 (11.76%) in no vaginitis group. PROM occurred 60 (30.46%) in vaginitis group while occurred in 15 (17.67%) in no vaginitis group. Conclusion: Vaginitis has a greater incidence in pregnant women attending antenatal care at Tanta University hospitals and is linked to some undesired outcomes. Treatment of vaginitis in pregnancy should be advice to reduce these poor outcomes.","PeriodicalId":300833,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Pregnancy & Child Birth","volume":"153 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123597739","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Meconium peritonitis is a rare prenatal disease with an increased rate of morbidity and mortality in the neonatal period. Neonatal studies suggest a prevalence of 1 in 35,000 live births.1 Meconium peritonitis (MP) can be diagnosed if a hyperecogenic area is found in the stomach of the fetus in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy. The etiology of MP is hought to be the result of a sterile chemical reaction resulting from bowel (ileum) perforation in utero. There is usually an intense inflammation from meconium peritonitis, which may incite calcification along the surface of bowel or peritoneum. In time the inflammatory response may seal the perforation or alternatively may form a pseudocyst or wall of meconium. This pseudocyst has a thin and often calcified wall. The other respons of inflamatory response are ascites and fibrosis. The end result of this process is three types of meconium peritonitis: fibroadhesif, cystic, diffuse and healing.","PeriodicalId":300833,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Pregnancy & Child Birth","volume":"1220 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116484750","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

So there is need of skilled assistance during labour is the very important and key service to reduce the rates of maternal mortality and morbidity rates. The partograph (sometimes known as partogram) is usually a pre-printed paper form on which labour observation are recorded. The aim of partograph is to provide a pictorial overview of labour, to alert midwives and obstetricians to deviations in maternal or fetal wellbeing and labour progress. The objective of the study was to assess the knowledge regarding partograph among staff nurses. Material & Methods: The study was conducted in tertiary care Medical institute of Amritsar. Total 40 Staff Nurses were selected by convenience sampling technique those were working in obstetric & gynaecological ward of SGRD hospital, vallah, Amritsar. A self structured questionnaire was used to assess the knowledge of staff nurses regarding Partograph. The data was gathered and analysed by calculating the frequency, percentage, mean, mean percentage, standard deviation and chi square. Results: The study concluded that 57.5% of staff nurses having average knowledge, 25% staff nurses having good knowledge and remaining, 17.5 % staff nurses having poor knowledge regarding partograph. Conclusion: The partograph is considered a valuable tool in the improvement of maternity service by allowing midwives and obstetrician to display intrapartum details in a pictorial manner. was socio demographic variables among staff nurses non parametric chi-square test was at p value<0.05.","PeriodicalId":300833,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Pregnancy & Child Birth","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126753184","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
