Les conséquences inhérentes sont multiples : grossesses inopportunes, recours accentué aux contraceptifs d’urgence et avortements, dépression.... Malgré ces effets importants, les femmes qui en sont victimes éprouvent souvent de la difficulté à reconnaitre leur expérience comme telle, ce qui contribue à limiter leur recherche de soutien. À travers la théorie du parcours de vie, cette analyse qualitative réalisée auprès de 13 femmes ayant vécu de la coercition reproductive présente comment la reconnaissance d'une telle expérience se déploie à l'intersection de diverses trajectoires de vie. Nos résultats suggèrent que le processus de reconnaissance est intrinsèquement paradoxal, et revêt un caractère à la fois subjectif, intersubjectif, sociohistorique et évolutif. Contrastant nos résultats avec la reconnaissance honnéthienne, des pistes critiques sont formulées en ce qui concerne notamment le déficit de ressources herméneutiques.","PeriodicalId":30068,"journal":{"name":"Aporia","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48944864","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A process considered procedurally just increases adherence to treatment, increases compliance with judicial decisions and allows efficient community reintegration. Yet, little is known about how procedural justice is carried out and the role of professionals in its implementation. Stemming from the results of a critical ethnography of the Ontario Review Board, in this article we examine how procedural justice materializes during Review Board hearings and the role of nurses in this materialization. We do so by leveraging Goffman’s work on total institutions and institutional ceremonies. Our findings suggest that nurses participate in activities that provide a perception of procedural justice, rather than serve their patients’ right to true procedural justice. We conclude by recommending that nurses engage in reflections about the distal effects of their clinical practice to broaden the possibilities for resistance within the forensic psychiatric system.","PeriodicalId":30068,"journal":{"name":"Aporia","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43565496","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our review indicates that benefits were seldom the focus of the literature and were mostly integrated within documents pertaining to the negative aspects of caring for these patients. In such a context, this research identified self-enhancement benefits in three domains (work benefits, work attributes, and work ethos), and self-actualization benefits in three domains (relationships, transformation, and humanity). During the COVID-19 pandemic, researchers are once again enticed to write scientific literature about the impact of caring in a “war zone”. Using the underpinning concepts identified through the benefit-finding research in the context of the HIV/AIDS pandemic, researchers could identify the many perceived benefits nurses derive from caring for infected patients during this pandemic.","PeriodicalId":30068,"journal":{"name":"Aporia","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42811572","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nous constatons la manifestation de ce même phénomène pendant la pandémie de COVID-19, pendant laquelle le personnel infirmier et les enjeux liés aux soins infirmiers sont le sujet d’une forte couverture médiatique au Canada et à l’international. Pour mieux comprendre cette couverture médiatique, nous avons analysé le contenu d’articles de presse canadiens publiés en anglais et en français au cours des cinq premiers mois de la pandémie de COVID-19. Le présent article présente les résultats de notre analyse et identifie les grandes leçons tirées de celle-ci. Ces résultats représentent selon nous un important point de départ pour mieux comprendre l’agentivité du personnel infirmier et le savoir-faire démontré par ce dernier pendant les premiers mois de la pandémie.","PeriodicalId":30068,"journal":{"name":"Aporia","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43717786","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During a pandemic, rapid communication of critical information is essential to identify and solve problems. In times of crisis, however, this kind of communication is difficult. In the province of Quebec, Canada, testimonies from nurses, licensed practical nurses (LPNs), and other health professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic indicate that the province’s health care settings have met whistleblowers’ concerns with insufficient corrective measures and, in some cases, retaliation against whistleblowers themselves. This crisis led a union to create an online platform to collect testimonials from the public and quickly make them available to the public and the media. By presenting a content analysis of testimonials submitted by nurses and LPNs, this article aims, on one hand, to identify the issues raised and, on the other, to examine the role and usefulness of this kind of platform for nurses who engage in acts of whistleblowing.","PeriodicalId":30068,"journal":{"name":"Aporia","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45063908","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

L’OMS en 1948 franchit une étape importante en définissant la santé comme un état de complet bien-être. Toutefois sa dimension statique lui valut de multiples critiques. Une définition plus dynamique a été proposée, soit la santé comme capacité de s’adapter et s’autogérer. De manière analogue, en ce qui concerne la santé mentale une nouvelle définition est proposée, à savoir la santé mentale comme état dynamique d’équilibre interne qui permet aux individus d’utiliser leurs capacités en harmonie avec les valeurs universelles de la société. Cela n’est pas sans importance vu que la compréhension qu’une société peut avoir du concept de santé affecte les politiques de santé, l’organisation sanitaire, les actions de santé publique et la prise en charge des individus en termes de santé et de maladie.","PeriodicalId":30068,"journal":{"name":"Aporia","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47579137","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In fact, we identified a false sense of security among American ASO staff stemming from their belief that the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) would protect them from having to disclose their charting notes. \u0000Conclusions: We suggest that training and educational opportunities for both professionalized and peer ASO staff are needed to sensitize them to the implications of record-keeping on the prosecution of HIV nondisclosure.","PeriodicalId":30068,"journal":{"name":"Aporia","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42417799","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Celles qui œuvrent en santé sexuelle semblent avoir été cantonnées dans une pratique biomédicale hétéronormative. L’objectif de l’étude était de faire ressortir les limites de ce nouveau rôle relativement à la médicalisation et l’homogénéisation de leur pratique jugée hétéronormative. Le cadre théorique et conceptuel de la santé sexuelle repose sur le biopouvoir et l’hétéronormativité. Cette recherche qualitative utilisant une approche en phénoménologie herméneutique a été réalisée à l’aide d’entrevues semi-dirigées auprès de neuf (N=9) infirmières prescriptrices de la région des Laurentides au Québec. Les résultats montrent bien que la quête d’une approche biomédicale pour assurer la pratique s’avère liée à l’expression d’un biopouvoir et que le travail auprès de populations symptomatiques, plus complexe et laissé aux médecins, accentue l’homogénéisation de la patientèle (jeune, blanche, hétérosexuelle) révélant une certaine hétéronormativité de la pratique infirmière.","PeriodicalId":30068,"journal":{"name":"Aporia","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46210403","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
