The study focuses on the Triple Border region between Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. One of the challenges for social policy is to transcend the national sphere to act on a transnational scale, necessary to account for the reality of the population in a deeply interlinked region. On the other hand, social policy is still anchored in a welfare perspective that considers persons as recipients of state aid, and not as subjects with agency. Finally, we address the indifference towards the subjectivity of children, which prevents the implemented actions from reversing the situation of vulnerability that made them necessary at first.","PeriodicalId":30041,"journal":{"name":"Sociologia Revista da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto","volume":"39 1","pages":"39-55"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44038812","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to demonstrate both dynamics, the text brings into focus a case study: the Brazilian military dictatorship period (1964 -1985) and the State-market-artists triangle forged at the time.","PeriodicalId":30041,"journal":{"name":"Sociologia Revista da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto","volume":"39 1","pages":"19-38"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48250180","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But if the achievements in terms of years of life are, themselves, positive, they are accompanied by a set of prejudices associated with age. Thus, ageism has become a present reality, both in speeches and in practices. Gerontologists, as professionals with theoretical and practical knowledge on aging have an ethical and moral duty to fight ageism. This is intended to be accounted for in this article.","PeriodicalId":30041,"journal":{"name":"Sociologia Revista da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto","volume":"39 1","pages":"5-18"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49272641","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Environmentalism is a central element of 21st century identity and, however, the literature fails in environmentalist typologies that allow reflection and positions on the topic. The methodology followed in this work implied a historical analysis of environmentalism. Such analysis resulted in 8 subscales that are aggregated in a single methodological instrument: the Environmentalist Identity Scale (EIA). The main contribution is to provide a simple instrument that allows a reflexive approach of each subject to a set of ideal types of environmentalist identities, supporting active intervention methodologies.","PeriodicalId":30041,"journal":{"name":"Sociologia Revista da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto","volume":"39 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77901609","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This article is the result of an autonomous research, framed in visual sociology and sociology of walking. “Walking” is assumed here as a form of immersion, exploration and decoding of the city. In nine months, we collected a hundred visual displays, scattered throughout the territory. The gathered images translate a polyphonic discourse, underlying several agents, receivers and demands. Although all of them express a common critique regarding the direction that the city has been taking in the urban, social and political aspects.","PeriodicalId":30041,"journal":{"name":"Sociologia Revista da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41766483","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Here we are interested in observing how “Sex” reifies contemporary hedonism, and for this we resort to the concept of fetish in Freud and Marx to analyze discourses of power in their dialectical relationship with the ethos of the system. “Sex” translates the needs of fugitive sensory experiences into a society hungry for the eccentric and superficial, being interpreted as an expression of a time.","PeriodicalId":30041,"journal":{"name":"Sociologia Revista da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46288234","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

He assesses some basic fields of social policy and workers’ rights applicable in the area of labour mobility (free movement, posting of workers, coordination of social security) to demonstrate the disparity between the 'spirit of the law’ and the practical application of the legislation. This gap is often stemming from contradictions that are the result of the subordination of social rights to the economic freedoms.","PeriodicalId":30041,"journal":{"name":"Sociologia Revista da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45592697","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
